2024 NFL draft: PFF identifies perfect prospect for Chargers

The Chargers are lacking an explosive playmaker.

The 2023 regular season is winding down for the Chargers, and all the attention will shift to the offseason, where they will look to revamp their roster under the new general manager and head coach.

Pro Football Focus recently identified the perfect 2024 NFL draft prospect for every team in the league, and for Los Angeles, it is LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.

The Chargers just drafted a first-round receiver in Quentin Johnston last offseason, but he has struggled mightily to show he could have the caliber of a WR1 for that team. I don’t think his presence keeps the Chargers from getting a talent like Nabers, especially with a new regime that didn’t draft Johnston coming in.

Nabers is coming off his most productive season, as he finished with 89 receptions for 1,569 yards (17.6 yards per catch) and 14 touchdowns.

Nabers, the 6-foot and 200-pound wideout, is a dynamic playmaker whose release, play speed and run-after-catch ability make him a home-run threat each time he touches the ball.

Currently slated to pick No. 6 overall, with the potential to end up with the fifth selection, L.A. will have a good shot of having Nabers on the board when they’re on the clock.

Even though they drafted Quentin Johnston this past year, Los Angeles still lacks an explosive element in the offense. Furthermore, Mike Williams and Keenan Allen’s future with the team remains to be seen.

Insert Nabers into the offense and he and Justin Herbert would do wonders together.
