WATCH: Nick Saban departs Mal Moore practice facility for the final time as head coach

Nick Saban leaves Mal Moore practice facility for the final time as head coach of Alabama

It’s a somber evening in Tuscaloosa, as legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban shockingly stepped away from the game and announced his retirement.

On Wednesday morning, coach Saban was interviewing potential coaching candidates and doing recruiting due diligence. Then late in the afternoon he shockingly dropped the bombshell to the team that his time was done.

It’s heartbreaking news for Alabama fans nationwide, but a day that was eventually going to come. Going out with an SEC Championship and Rose Bowl (college playoff) berth is nothing to be ashamed of either.

There is no assessing the impact Saban has had on thousands upon thousands of people ranging from former coaches, players, citizens of Tuscaloosa, University of Alabama students and so many more. There will never be another Nick Saban and nobody will ever replicate what he did. But, man, were we lucky to be along for the ride. Nine SEC Championships, six national titles and four Heisman Trophies are just the beginning of the laundry list of accolades he brought to the university.

Students outside of the Mal Moore practice facility waived goodbye to the legendary head coach as he departed for the final time as head coach of the Crimson Tide. College football will go on and Alabama is already well into their hiring process, but this one hurts.

Everything Nick Saban said following Alabama’s fifth spring practice

“I’m not pleased with where we are. I’m not disappointed in where we are,” says Nick Saban following Alabama’s fifth spring practice!

The Alabama football team wrapped up its fifth spring practice on Thursday afternoon on the Thomas-Drew Fields. The practice would complete week two of spring football for the Tide and now we are only just three weeks away from the annual A-Day Game from Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Following Thursday’s two-hour practice, Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] would make his way to the podium to speak to members of the media about how the spring festivities are going.

Coach Saban would speak on the progress his team is making as well as honor the late Mal Moore who passed away ten years ago on Thursday.

Here is everything coach Saban had to say!

LOOK: Sneak peak at the new Alabama football locker room

Part of the Crimson Standard includes the renovation of locker room with new lockers and a revised configuration, adding lounge space, & more

The Crimson Standard, is a 10-year, $600 million fundraising initiative to enhance athletics facilities on the UA campus including Bryant-Denny Stadium, Rhoads Stadium, Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility, and more.

The Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility is the home of Alabama Football. It includes a new athletic dining facility as well as training facilities. One of the major updates to the facility will be the renovation of the locker room, and as you can see in this picture, the Alabama football locker room looks incredible, and quite comfortable as well.

I mean for real, how nice is this?

The chair, the LED lights, and the custom player picture and information?

Incredible.

There’s no doubt that when all of the construction is all said and done, Alabama will have one of, if not the nicest, stadiums and training facilities in the country.

Bryant-Denny Stadium’s renovation is scheduled to be completed by Alabama’s first home game of the 2020 season.

The goals of the renovation of the stadium are to have more luxury seating options, several features designed to enhance the fan experience, larger corner scoreboards, adding a student concourse at the southeast ground level entrance, and more.
