Cardinals trolled 2023 opponents: What about the Commanders?

The Cardinals used songs to reveal their 2023 schedule. Poor Major Tuddy.

While fans and the media may be indifferent to the NFL’s annual schedule release, the teams are not. Sure, coaches and quarterbacks aren’t anxiously refreshing Twitter to see the new schedule, but social media teams from all 32 NFL teams, well, this is like their Super Bowl.

There were some excellent schedule release videos Thursday. The Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and, yes, even the Washington Commanders had some good, creative content ready for the 8:00 p.m. ET release.

Another one of those teams with a creative way to reveal the new schedule was the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals used songs to reveal each opponent on their schedule. And there were some excellent choices. Arizona’s Week 1 opponent, the Commanders, used their mascot, a pig named Major Tuddy, to help reveal their schedule.

The Cardinals had some fun with Major Tuddy. Arizona’s song for Washington: “It’s Peppa Pig.”

Yes, that’s right, the long-running children’s show has a theme song. Check it out.

Pretty creative.

Let’s just say I didn’t think I’d be talking about Peppa the Pig and the NFL.

Congratulations, Cardinals. Well done.

WATCH: Commanders use mascot to reveal schedule

The Commanders used Major Tuddy to reveal 2023 schedule.

The next big day on the NFL calendar after the NFL draft is now schedule release day. While some fans don’t care, others do, and teams are following suit to take advantage of those who do care.

The new annual craze is NFL teams using social media creatively to announce the new schedule. One of the best in recent years has been the Denver Broncos, who used legendary quarterback Peyton Manning and the team’s mascot as a part of the schedule release videos. Manning and the Broncos did it again this year.

The Washington Commanders, with their new mascot, Major Tuddy — and head coach Ron Rivera — also got creative with their schedule release.

Pro Bowlers giving back to other communities

Washington’s Pro Bowlers gave back to the community on Saturday.

Saturday was about giving back to the community.

The NFL scheduled time out for this season’s Pro Bowlers to come out and participate in the refurbishing the Reynolds Boys and Girls Club in Las Vegas.

“It’s great what the NFL has done,” said former Washington linebacker and current member of the Commanders broadcasts London Fletcher. “They come into these communities and they give back, refurbishing the Boys & Girls Club here and also encouraging kids to get out of the house and play 60 minutes a day.”

“This is really rewarding, I like giving back to the community, ” said Terry McLaurin. “It doesn’t matter if I am in the DMV, Indianapolis, or Las Vegas. It is a unique opportunity to talk to kids, letting them see you without your helmet.”

“It’s been a bunch of fun being able to be around all of these guys, laugh and joke around,” expressed Commanders DT Daron Payne. “I got a chance to paint a little bit. It’s a bunch of fun to be able to give back to the community.”

“I hope the kids have some fun. I don’t know if they should learn anything from me,” said Tress Way. “But hopefully, they do have fun. This has been really cool, the structure of it, how they have treated us. Splitting everyone up into competing in different types of games has been fun too.”

The Pro Bowl Games television coverage will continue Sunday at 3 pm and be televised by ESPN, ABC, ESPN+ and Disney XD.

Sunday, there will be two 7 on 7 Flag Football games instead of an actual Pro Bowl “game” between the AFC and NFC. Also on the schedule for Sunday will be the following:

  • Best Catch – Finale
  • Gridiron Gauntlet
  • Move the Chains
  • Kick Tac Toe

According to Julie Donaldson, Major Tuddy, is a big hit with the kids out in Las Vegas.

Commanders introduce ‘Major Tuddy’ as the new mascot

Yet, the Commanders are whipped on the field with Joe Gibbs in attendance.

At halftime of the Washington Commanders’ Week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns, the team introduced their new mascot.

Welcome aboard, Major Tuddy.

Washington’s unveiling of the new mascot came on the same day that the Commanders honored the legendary “Hogs” with several former players in attendance. In addition, the most important figure in team history, former head coach Joe Gibbs was in town as an honorary captain and watched the game from the press box.

Several of “The Hogs” were not in attendance for the game, such as John Riggins, Joe Jacoby, Rick “Doc” Walker and others, due to their ongoing dispute with the team over the trademarking of “The Hogs.”

Unfortunately for fans, the Browns whipped Washington in the second half, potentially eliminating the Commanders from playoff contention.

What’s the verdict on Major Tuddy, Commanders’ new mascot?

The Commanders have revealed a new mascot, Major Tuddy

The Washington Commanders’ organization needs to do anything and everything to try and find some good publicity.

The Commanders waited until Week 17 of the regular season to share a new mascot with their fans.

Welcome to the NFL, Major Tuddy, kind of a pig deal, says the social media team for the Commanders.

Major Tuddy going to stick or is he/she another major dud? Will Major Tuddy wind up, um, hogging the spotlight?

Some of the original Hogs were present for the debut.
