Who are Chiefs’ top-rated edge rushers, defensive linemen in ‘Madden NFL 24’ video game?

Defensive line and edge rusher player ratings in #Madden24 might point to the #Chiefs’ weakest position groups.

With football’s return inching closer, EA Sports has begun to reveal player ratings for “Madden NFL 24.” The video game will be released on Aug. 18, with early access through preordering or EA Play beginning on Aug. 15.

With Monday’s reveal, wide receivers and safeties for the Kansas City Chiefs have some proving to do during the 2023 NFL season. Now, we’ve found that outside of Chris Jones, Madden is skeptical about the team’s edge rush and defensive line talent as well.

Running backs and offensive linemen will be revealed on Wednesday. Cornerbacks and tight ends are coming on Thursday. Things will conclude with quarterbacks, linebackers, punters, kickers and fullbacks on Friday.

Will any Chiefs players make the 99 club this year? Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are good bets.

Below you’ll find a look at the initial “overall” player rating for each of the Chiefs’ edge rushers and defensive linemen in the game. Keep in mind that these ratings are subject to change during the course of the season.

Madden NFL 24 ratings reveal an unflattering look at the Saints WR room

Madden NFL 24 ratings reveal an unflattering look at the New Orleans Saints receiving corps, but it’s on them to change those grades | @DillySanders

Madden NFL 24 is set to release soon, so the game’s developers at EA Sports have started to reveal some positional rankings based off player grades. The New Orleans Saints offense is one that is not very highly regarded around the league right now, and the madden ratings that have been revealed really show that with a now numerical value.

The New Orleans Saints wide receivers rankings look like this: Chris Olave and Michael Thomas at 84 overall, Tre’Quan Smith at 75 overall, Rashid Saheed at 74 overall, Bryan Edwards and James Washington at 72 overall, Keke Coutee at 71 overall, rookie AT Perry at 68 overall, Keith Kirkwood at 66 overall and lastly Kawaan Baker at 62 overall.

Olave and Thomas being tied for the best receiver on the team, actually does make sense in my eyes. The other 84 overall receivers include Garrett Wilson and Marquise Brown.

There are two NFC South receivers ahead of the two Saints star targets, Mike Evans leads the way at a 90 overall followed by his teammate Chris Godwin at 86 overall.

One questionable stat that stood out is Shaheed being listed at 92 speed. Some of the skill based stats I could see Madden being weary with for a second year formerly undrafted player, but his speed rating being that low is confusing. Olave is faster than him at a 93 speed. Deebo Samuel, Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Rashod Bateman and Alec Pierce are all at 92 speed. They aren’t slow, but Shaheed is another level of speed and watching him for any amount of time would make that clear.

Bottom line, the Saints wide receiver room has some work to do if they want to be seen as a more than just serviceable room across the league.

The launch ratings for “Madden NFL 24” are slowly being released, and Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. currently finds himself holding the highest rating on the team as of this writing.

The fourth-year wide receiver was given a launch rating of 85 overall, which is tied for 24th among all wide receivers with Odell Beckham Jr., Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk.

Pittman Jr. is currently the only Colts player with a rating in the 80s. As of this writing, only the wide receiver and safety positions have been released.

We should expect players like Jonathan Taylor, DeForest Buckner, Quenton Nelson and Shaquille Leonard to find themselves in the 80s as well.

This is going to be a crucial season for Pittman Jr., who enters the final year of his rookie contract. He certainly will be looking for a new deal as soon as possible, but the outlook on that front is still pretty cloudy.

Madden NFL 24 confirms Terry McLaurin is a top 10 NFL wide receiver

And, according to Madden NFL 24, he’s the NFC East’s top wide receiver.

You don’t need to convince Washington fans that Terry McLaurin is one of the NFL’s 10 best wide receivers. However, others need convincing, as McLaurin is often left out of some people’s lists as one of the NFL’s 10 best wideouts.

Now we have even more confirmation on McLaurin’s status as one of the NFL’s top wide receivers. The iconic EA Sports video game “Madden NFL 24” ratings were released Monday, and McLaurin received a 92.

Per the rankings, McLaurin is the NFL’s No. 8 wide receiver — ahead of Philadelphia’s A.J. Brown. That will surely upset some Eagles fans.

As we’ve often said, rankings are subjective, and these are no different. Both McLaurin and Brown are phenomenal. And both are top-10 NFL wide receivers.

It’s just good to see McLaurin finally receiving the respect he deserves on a national level.

Watch: Chargers WR Quentin Johnston reacts to ‘Madden NFL 24’ rating

Chargers rookie Quentin Johnston’s ratings were revealed and he reacted to them.

The Chargers went all-in on the wide receiver position in the 2023 NFL draft by selecting former TCU standout Quentin Johnston with their first-round pick.

Ahead of the release of EA Sports Madden NFL 24, Johnston’s rating was unveiled, earning a 74-overall grade in their preliminary ratings and was assessed to have an 81 catch attribute value.

And known for his speed and yards-after-the-catch ability, Johnston checked in as the second-fastest rookie receiver with an 89-speed rating.

Johnston reacted to his ratings, and he seemed to be fine with his catch rating but felt that his overall rating was too low.

Check it out:

Johnston will have to prove to EA Sports’ experts that he’s capable of a higher rating over the course of the 2023 campaign as he competes with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams for targets in Los Angeles’ stacked offense that features superstar quarterback Justin Herbert under center.

Chargers’ Derwin James earns top spot in ‘Madden NFL 24’ safety ratings

Notorious Madden fan Derwin James earned the game’s top rating at the safety position ahead of the 2023 season

The Chargers secondary is chock-full of young talent, and the rating experts at EA Sports seem particularly bullish on safety Derwin James’ potential for the 2023 season, giving him the top overall grade at his position for the upcoming release of the “Madden” franchise.

“Madden” rates each player in the NFL on a 1-99 scale, with 99 representing the absolute best grade a player can earn for their in-game avatar. James graded out at a 95-overall, landing just shy of the coveted “99 Club” reserved for the league’s most preeminent stars.

Though the grades that go into his overall rating have yet to be released, Chargers fans can rest assured that James will be a force to be reckoned with when the game releases in August.

As the top-rated safety in the game, James can be expected to have cheat code-esque abilities when “Madden” fanatics utilize him as part of their secondary.

Madden NFL 24 ranks Tyrann Mathieu as a top safety in the NFL

Madden NFL 24 is releasing soon, so the developers at EA Sports have begun to reveal some player ratings. The New Orleans Saints did not have a large number of highly-rated players last season, but they’ve already shown to have at least one player ranked near the top of their position.

Tyrann Mathieu has been revealed as the fifth-ranked safety in the game, tied with Jessie Bates as a 91 overall rating. This is actually a bit of a drop for Mathieu, who started last season as the top-rated safety at a 94 overall, but the game is still showing the 31-year-old safety some respect.

Mathieu comes in with a higher rating than former Saints safeties Marcus Williams and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Williams was the 11th-best safety with an 88 overall rating with Gardner-Johnson falling down to the 20th spot with an 84 rating.

The New Orleans veteran and native is also the highest-rated safety in the division, with the next-best being Antoine Winfield at 15th with an 87 overall. Mathieu’s tag-team partner Marcus Maye did not find himself in the top-20 which was revealed on Monday morning.

They’ll wrap things up with quarterbacks, linebackers, punters, kickers and fullbacks on Friday.

Where A.J. Brown ranks among wide receivers in Madden 24

See the rating Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver A.J. Brown landed in Madden 24.

Madden NFL 24 ratings are starting to be revealed and both of the Eagles star wide receivers can have a gripe about their initial rankings.

A.J. Brown had 1,496 yards in 2022, the franchise single-season record, and he’s among the most dominant players at his position, but only landed at No. 9 on the top 10 list.

Elsewhere, DeVonta Smith was the second-highest rated Eagles wideout with an 87 rating.
