NFL training camps are less than three weeks away from starting and that means fans and gamers alike can start to prepare for the release of Madden NFL 21.

Lamar Jackson is the cover guy and although the game is more than a month from an official release, EA Sports is spilling some of the details.

First up is the all-important ratings, with the rookies getting the nod first. On Thursday EA Sports released the rookie quarterback rankings and Hurts landed in the top-5 with a 68 overall rating.

Here are the quarterbacks ranked above Hurts in terms of overall rating:

Joe Burrow — 76
Tua Tagovailoa — 73
Jordan Love — 71
Justin Herbert — 70

Hurts tied with Titans rookie Cole McDonald and Ravens rookie Tyler Huntley for the highest rating in the speed department at 86 overall.

Hurts was tops in acceleration, strength, and agility as well.

‘Madden NFL 21’ releases player ratings for rookie QBs

See where this year’s top rookie quarterbacks fall in EA Sports’ “Madden NFL 21” player ratings

If you’ve been waiting to see just how good Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa will be in the upcoming edition of EA Sports’ “Madden NFL” video game, today is your lucky day.

Player ratings for every rookie quarterback in this year’s game were released Thursday, with Burrow and Tagovailoa unsurprisingly leading the pack:

Jordan Love comes out ahead of Justin Herbert, despite being selected 20 spots later in the first round, while Jalen Hurts rounds out the top five.

Here is Jacob Eason’s rating in Madden NFL 21

Eason comes in 6th among rookie QBs.

With training camp expected to be right around the corner, the release of Madden NFL 21 will quickly follow. While the ratings aren’t out yet, we do have an early look at the rookie quarterback class, including Indianapolis Colts fourth-round pick Jacob Eason.

The rookie quarterback in the Circle City isn’t expected to see playing time during his rookie season. With Philip Rivers and Jacoby Brissett still on the roster, it will be some time before Eason sees the field.

That’s reflected in his Madden rating, which comes in at a 63 overall and the sixth-highest among rookie quarterbacks.

Eason’s 93 rating in throwing power is the highest of the class but his 82 accuracy rating is 17th among rookie quarterbacks.

Here are the quarterbacks ranked above Eason in terms of overall rating:

  1. Joe Burrow — 76
  2. Tua Tagovailoa — 73
  3. Jordan Love — 71
  4. Justin Herbert — 70
  5. Jalen Hurts — 68
  6. Jacob Eason — 63

The Washington product was expected to be a Day 2 selection but fell in the draft due to supposed work ethic concerns. He’s done everything he can to dispel those notions.

Eason has a very high ceiling given the arm talent he brings to the quarterback room but his development on the mental side of the game will be the deciding factor in his NFL career.

An up close look at Gronk in ‘Madden NFL 21’

Rob Gronkowski is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer and now you can see him up close in “Madden NFL 21.”

Tight end Rob Gronkowski ended his one-year retirement from the NFL to reunite with Tom Brady in Tampa with the Buccaneers. The future Hall of Fame tight end seems to be rejuvenated after a year away from the game, and judging by the recent photos of him in his new Bucs uniform, he looks like he’s almost back in game shape.

While we’ll have to wait a little longer to see Gronk on the field in his Tampa Bay threads, here’s an up close look at him in Madden NFL 21. And, let’s face it, the graphics are so insane it’s almost like the real thing.

Enjoy.

Broncos fan creates alternate ‘Madden 21’ cover

This Broncos fan made an alternate ‘Madden 21’ cover featuring Drew Lock and several of his teammates.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will be featured on the cover of Madden NFL 21 this year. One Denver Broncos fan wants to use a cover featuring Denver Broncos players — so he made one.

Here’s an alternate Madden cover from Reddit’s “finalcutwizard,” who shared his design on r/DenverBroncos on Tuesday:

(Don’t worry, the Madden Curse doesn’t apply to fan-made alternate covers.)

Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller and running back Melvin Gordon were featured briefly in EA Sports’ first trailer for Madden 21.

After signing Gordon to a two-year contract during NFL free agency, Denver shared a Madden clip of Gordon wearing an orange and blue uniform. Gordon was rated 84 overall in last year’s version of the game.

Miller has consistently been Denver’s highest-rated player in the game since quarterback Peyton Manning retired following the 2015 season. Last year, EA Sports gave Miller a 97 overall rating. To view all of the Broncos’ initial ratings from Madden NFL 20click here.

WATCH: Chiefs DB Tyrann Mathieu featured in ‘Madden NFL 21’ trailer

The latest trailer for “Madden NFL 21” has been released by EA Sports and Kansas City Chiefs DB Tyrann Mathieu is shown in it.

EA Sports has released its trailer for the newest entry into its signature franchise.

The official gameplay trailer for “Madden NFL 21” features Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Tyrann Mathieu tackling Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary around the 53-second mark.

Noticeably absent from the trailer is Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was the cover athlete for the previous iteration of the game. This year, the cover athlete is Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.  It’s a little surprising that they wouldn’t feature the Super Bowl champions and Mahomes a bit more, but they likely don’t want to distract from their newest cover athlete.

You can watch the trailer in its entirety down below:

It’s good to see at least one Chiefs player getting some love after their Super Bowl LIV victory. Don’t worry, Mahomes will likely get his shine when EA Sports announces the newest group of players selected to the “99 club” ahead of the launch “Madden NFL 21” on Aug. 25. He’ll likely be a 99 overall in the game because he’s fresh off of a Super Bowl MVP performance. It’s entirely possible that Mathieu, who is featured in this trailer, will be one of the top-rated safeties in the game too.

The newest iteration of the game touts a number of new gameplay mechanics and features that you can learn about here. If it’s anything like previous titles, don’t expect any mind-blowing alterations to core gameplay mechanics.

Watch: Titans’ Derrick Henry, hat-wearing Mike Vrabel appear in Madden 21 trailer

Why is Mike Vrabel wearing a hat?

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and running back Derrick Henry both make a brief appearance in the trailer for Madden NFL 21.

In the trailer, the virtual Henry can be seen doing what the real Henry does best: running someone over.

Meanwhile, virtual Vrabel, who fist pumps at the sight of virtual Henry plowing a virtual defender over, is for some reason wearing a hat that he doesn’t wear in real life.

Here’s a look at just the appearances of Henry and Vrabel.

And here’s the full trailer in case you’re interested.

The only time we recall Vrabel wearing a hat in 2019 was in the cold weather of the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but it wasn’t even the kind of hat he’s wearing in this trailer; it was a stocking cap.

Giving Vrabes a hat really does a disservice to the fine head of hair the 44-year-old sports. We’ll have to see if the game eventually changes that.

However, we remain skeptical Madden 21 will get it right after they absolutely destroyed Kevin Byard’s face last year.

For those of you who are still into the Madden video game franchise, the latest installment officially drops on August 25.

See the first look at next-gen Madden on Xbox Series X

Patrick Mahomes introduced a teaser of Madden NFL 21.

Gamers got their first look at a few next-gen releases coming later this year during the Xbox Series X games showcase on Thursday, and Madden NFL 20 cover star Patrick Mahomes made an appearance during a video package for Madden 21.

The preview was mostly filled with footage from past Madden games and focused on the evolution of the series, from John Madden Football in 1988 to the upcoming version on next-gen hardware. We did get a very brief glimpse of what Madden could look like on Xbox Series X, with a clip of Mahomes spinning through an attempted tackle and diving for the pylon to score.
