It looks like Drew Lock and Melvin Gordon will participate in a celebrity ‘Madden’ tournament

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock and running back Melvin Gordon have been selected to participate in a ‘Madden’ video game tournament.

Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock and running back Melvin Gordon are set to participate in a celebrity Madden tournament, according to a bracket posted on Instagram by MMA fighter Chris Weidman.

Because they are on opposite sides of the bracket, there’s a chance that Lock and Gordon could face each other in the championship game.

It’s unclear if the tournament will be streamed or broadcast on television.

Lock has worked with EA Sports on Madden promos in the past:

Lock was initially rated 67 overall as a rookie in Madden 20. Gordon has a much higher rating of 92 overall. To view a list of Denver’s all-time highest-rated players in the popular NFL video game, click here.

Chargers safety Derwin James wins EA Sports’ Madden 20 Tournament

No one wants to take on Derwin James on the football field, as well as on Madden.

Chargers safety Derwin James is one of the best players in the league, and one of the best Madden players.

James was crowned champion of the Checkdown x Madden Tournament, which was a Madden 20 tournament to help raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts, taking down Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

James used the 49ers while Hill played with the Bears.

Hill couldn’t find the scoreboard, only managing three points after scoring 104 points in the last two rounds prior to the championship matchup. Meanwhile, James’ offense was too dominant for Hill to stop as he racked up a whopping 52 points.

James worked his way to the top by taking down his own teammate Keenan Allen 14-6 in the first-round, following that up by defeating Eagles’ DeSean Jackson by the score of 50-27 in the semifinals.

With his earnings from winning the tourney, a donation will be made in James’ name to a COVID-19 charity of choice.

Here’s a Madden first look at what Tom Brady looks like as a Buccaneer

Take a look at Tom Brady as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer through the Madden ’20 lens.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady (still does not sound real) took to social media Friday after making his signing official. The six-time Super Bowl champion left the New England Patriots last week after 20 years, and will now join a Bucs team that already ranked as one of the NFL’s best offenses.

While Brady struggled with the Patriots last year to put up points on offense, he’ll have a bevy of assets at his disposal in Tampa Bay, including Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and O.J. Howard. Watching Brady throwing to Bucs receivers next season will feel like something out of a Madden video game.

And, to give you an idea of what that might look like, head on over to NFL.com to see this Madden ’20 first look.

EA Sports shares ‘Madden’ screenshot of Tom Brady in Broncos uniform

Thanks to ‘Madden,’ we now know what Tom Brady would look like in a Broncos uniform.

The new league year and NFL free agency will begin on March 18 and Patriots pending free agent quarterback Tom Brady will be the hottest name to follow this offseason. It’s hard to imagine Brady leaving New England but there has been speculation that the QB could have a new team in 2020.

EA Sports, the creators of the NFL’s popular “Madden” video game, took to Twitter on Thursday to share of GIF of Brady wearing the uniforms of several different teams, including the Broncos.

Here’s what Brady would look like in orange and blue:

Speaking at the NFL combine last month, Denver general manager John Elway indicated that the team would be open to talking with Brady but they are “pretty happy with Drew [Lock].” Elway seems unlikely to bring in a 42-year-old Brady after a 23-year-old Lock went 4-1 last season.

Oddsmakers have given the Broncos 18/1 odds of landing Brady. We wouldn’t advise taking that bet — Brady is unlikely to land in Denver.

Peyton and Eli Manning star in Madden’s Super Bowl prediction commercial

Peyton Manning and his brother Eli helped promote Madden’s prediction for Super Bowl LIV.

Each year, EA Sports releases a Super Bowl winner prediction using its popular Madden NFL video game. This year, Madden recruited former NFL quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Eli Manning to shoot a commercial promoting their prediction.

Peyton gives a tour of the prediction lab and tells viewers that more football fans need to play the “Super Bowl” on Madden to help finalize a prediction. There’s a big gold button used to submit the prediction and Eli’s apparently in charge of protecting it.

“I didn’t really get to play as much as I wanted to this year,” Eli says when Peyton tells him he’s at Madden’s facility to “play.”

Peyton: “So you need to play now.”

Eli: “I’ll think about it.”

Peyton: “I think you should play.”

Eli: “You should play.”

Peyton: “I am playing!”

Eli [shocked]: “You’re playing?”

Peyton: “Ya-yes, wait, what are we talking about here?”

The commercial was undoubtedly filmed before Eli announced his retirement. It probably would have been a little funnier if it had been released before Eli’s announcement but it’s still pretty good.

Madden’s official prediction was released last week: EA Sports has the Chiefs beating the 49ers 35-31 in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday.
