Ohio State baseball may have landed its biggest transfer on Friday afternoon.
Infielder, [autotag]Luther “Lee” Ellis[/autotag], committed to the Buckeyes after playing his freshman season at South Carolina. He played in 17 games this past year, starting six of them batting .273 with 8 runs and a steal.
Ellis was a highly ranked recruit coming out of high school, as Perfect Game named him as the No. 1 prospect in Maryland and the 85th overall player in the country as noted in his player page.
A cannon for an arm, Ellis was clocked at 96 miles-per-hour at a Perfect Game event, while his 6.41 60-yard dash is equally impressive.
Ohio State has received a commitment from South Carolina infielder transfer Luther "Lee" Ellis.
The 5-foot-11 and 170-pound Ellis batted .273 in 17 games with six starts as a freshman. He was a top-100 prospect coming out of high school per @PerfectGameUSA.

There is no doubt that assistant Joey Holcomb had a part in this move by Ellis, as he had the same responsibilities with the Gamecocks. He should compete for a starting spot immediately.
