Ole Miss at LSU odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Ole Miss Rebels at LSU Tigers sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Ole Miss Rebels (4-4) head to the bayou to play the LSU Tigers (4-5) in an SEC showdown at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Ole Miss-LSU college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Ole Miss at LSU: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Ole Miss -120 (bet $120 to win $100) | LSU +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Ole Miss -1.5 (-110) | LSU +1.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 74.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Ole Miss at LSU: Three things to know

  1. Ole Miss (-9.5) won the Egg Bowl at home against Mississippi State 31-24 in its last game Nov. 28. The Rebels have been on a three-week break because of COVID-19 related issues, which includes the cancellation of last week’s scheduled game with Texas A&M.
  2. Last week was LSU’s most eventful of the year as the Tigers got their biggest win of the season. They beat then-No. 6 Florida 37-34 as 24-point road underdogs. LSU instituted a self-imposed, one-year postseason ban in reaction to investigations of improper booster payments and mishandling of sexual misconduct complaints within the LSU football program.
  3. Because of the ban, LSU can play the role of spoiler in Lane Kiffin’s first season at the helm of Ole Miss, who’d become bowl eligible if the Rebels beat the Tigers. LSU spanked Ole Miss 58-37 last season, as it pretty much spanked every opponent in 2019. Obviously, these programs have had a lot of roster turnover since that game.

Ole Miss at LSU: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

LSU 42, Ole Miss 34

Money line (ML)

LSU will carry its momentum from last week’s win over Florida to get out in front early against an Ole Miss team that might have gotten cold since its last game back in November.

The Rebels have won their last three games but that streak dates back to Halloween and Ole Miss had a week off prior to each game. Also, both teams have a similar identity with horrible defense and productive offense. LSU’s defense is actually good on 3rd down and in the red zone.

Those edges are huge in a game BetMGM is projecting to be a coin flip. GIMME LSU (+100) for 1.5 units.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD. LSU has improved down the stretch, and got a marquee win over Florida. The Tigers have also covered the spread in three of their last four games. That more or less highlights that a typically elite LSU football program is trending up to close its season.

Over/Under (O/U)

lean OVER 74.5 (-110) but officially PASS because my analysis on the total would essentially be a fade of these bad defenses, i.e. not sharp enough to put action on it.

The 74.5-point number is such a large total and these offenses could sustain drives, peter out in the red zone, or shoot themselves in the foot, and kick field goals instead of hitting pay dirt.

Sam Houston State at LSU odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Sam Houston State Bearkats at LSU Tigers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Sam Houston State Bearkats (2-3) visit the LSU Tigers (3-1) for a Monday matinee at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La. The non-conference meeting is slated to tip-off at noon ET. Below, we analyze the Sam Houston-LSU college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Sam Houston State at LSU: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last update at 6:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: No line
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sam Houston State +24.5 (-110) | LSU -24.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 154 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Sam Houston State at LSU: Three things to know

  1. Sam Houston followed up three season-opening setbacks with three straight victories. The Bearkats’ schedule strength took a dip those three games — against Dallas Christian, Howard Payne-Texas, Le Tourneau-Texas (a JUCO and two DIII programs) — but SHSU has scored 341 points in getting back to .500. Junior G Zach Nutall tallied 63 points over the three wins and is leading Sam Houston in scoring, at 22.5 points per game.
  2. Monday’s game will mark LSU’s first contest in more than a week. The Tigers haven’t played since defeating Louisiana Tech, 86-55, on Dec. 6. LSU shot 54.2% from the field in that win eight days back; the Tigers’ 52.3% mark on the season ranks first in the SEC.
  3. NCAA hoops schedules aren’t exactly chiseled in stone these days, but LSU’s schedule finagling does figure to impact how the Tigers want to game this one out. Monday’s home tilt against SHSU marks the first of four LSU games in a nine-day stretch.

Sam Houston State at LSU: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

LSU 91, Sam Houston 68

Money line (ML)

No line.

Against the spread (ATS)

The LSU layoff, combined with Sam Houston’s spate of games against lower-level teams, leaves us a few data points short and struggling to see through too much gray area.

LSU is 4-1 ATS over its last five home games. Over a stretch of early-season games that LSU was favored double-digits in last year, the Tigers went 4-1 ATS. And the Tigers are the slight lean in this one, but a PASS IS RECOMMENDED.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Tigers scored 86 and 96 points, respectively, over their last two home games. The opponents (Southeastern Louisiana, Louisiana Tech) struggled so much on offense that both games went the Under. The Bearkats have a 7-3 O/U record in their last 10 games as a road ‘dog.

Peg Monday’s game as having plenty of pace and plenty of free-throw attempts. After its layoff, and in coming down from a quick start, it’d be reasonable to figure LSU displaying less efficiency on offense.

But there are ways to be a bit rusty and still score near 90 points in this type of non-conference tune-up. A Sam Houston total near 65-70 points is plenty reasonable, and the OVER 154 (-110) IS A STRONG PLAY.

LSU at Florida odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s LSU Tigers at Florida Gators sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The 2019-2020 Champion LSU Tigers (3-5) will take on the Florida Gators (8-1) Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Below, we analyze the LSU-Florida college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

LSU at Florida: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: LSU +800 (bet $100 to win $800) | Florida -1400 (bet $1,400 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: LSU +23.5 (-110) | Florida -23.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 68.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

LSU at Florida: Three things to know

  1. Florida QB Kyle Trask is the Heisman favorite right now as he has thrown 38 touchdowns in nine games. He’s averaging 10.1 yards per attempt, and he has thrown for 3,243 yards this season.
  2. Florida TE Kyle Pitts might be the best player in this game as he could be a top-10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Pitts has caught 11 touchdowns in seven games this season. He’s averaging an incredible 17.8 yards per reception, and he is clearly the Gators’ top passing option.
  3. LSU’s defense has been among the worst in college football this season, allowing over 33 points per game. The team is allowing over 313 passing yards per game and 7.09 yards per play.

LSU at Florida: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Florida 45, LSU 17

Money line (ML)

Florida (-1400) is a huge money line favorite in this game after going 8-1 so far on the season. Their only loss came against Texas A&M early in the year, and they are the far superior team in this contest. However, there isn’t enough value here on the Gators, so PASS on the money line in this contest.

Against the spread (ATS)

FLORIDA (-23.5) is more than a three-touchdown favorite in this contest, and it’s not hard to see why. LSU has been blown out by teams like Alabama, Auburn and Texans A&M this season, and their offense just isn’t good enough to keep up. With the Gators having playoff aspirations, look for them to take care of business in this game and win by nearly 30 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 68.5 points is the smart play in this game as LSU’s offense is just far too inconsistent to bet the over on. While the defense will allow points at a high-rate, the offense just has too many games where they have failed to score more than 20 points. Look for this to be another one of those days as the 17 points might be all they get on Saturday night.

Alabama at LSU odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Alabama Crimson Tide at LSU Tigers sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (8-0, 8-0 SEC) visit the LSU Tigers (3-4, 3-4) Saturday for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we analyze the Alabama-LSU college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Tide are No. 1 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Alabama at LSU: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Alabama -3000 (bet $3,000 to win $100) | LSU +1200 (bet $100 to win $1,200)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Alabama -29.5 (-110) | LSU +29.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 66.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Alabama at LSU: Three things to know

  1. Alabama started out with major and uncharacteristic struggles on defense, yielding 28.8 points per game across the first four outings. The Tide have since righted the ship, allowing just 8.3 PPG over the previous four, including just 13 points in a 29-point win over rival Auburn last week.
  2. Alabama head coach Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19 and was away from the team for the Auburn game, but he has been given the green light to travel and coach on the sideline at Baton Rouge.
  3. LSU has alternated losses and wins in each of its first seven games this season. The Tigers were dropped 20-7 last time week at Texas A&M. While the Tigers are 2-2 SU over the past four, they’re 3-1 ATS with three consecutive Under results.

Alabama at LSU: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Alabama 45, LSU 17

Money line (ML)

Alabama (-3000) is an overwhelming favorite in this rivalry game, as LSU (+1200) just hasn’t been able to duplicate last season’s success after so many player losses to the NFL. Still, this is a rivalry game, and risking $100 for every $3.33 won is just not a winning strategy. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

LSU +29.5 (-110) is a double-digit dog for the second straight week. It’s the first time since Oct. 23-Nov. 6, 2010 that the Tigers are underdogs in consecutive weeks. LSU is also the biggest underdog for a reigning national champion across the past 40 seasons. While Alabama has won each of the past eight games by at least 17 points, you can trust the Tigers to at least keep it within four touchdowns.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 66.5 (-110) is the way to go Saturday, as the ‘Bama defense has been awfully stingy lately. The Tide offense will make it happen, and the Tigers are unlikely to offer much resistance. Still, we have seen the Under hit in five of the past six matchups in this series overall, and each of the past six in Baton Rouge.

LSU at Texas A&M odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s LSU Tigers at Texas A&M Aggies sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The LSU Tigers (3-3 overall, 3-3 SEC) visit the Texas A&M Aggies (5-1, 5-1) Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the LSU-Texas A&M college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Aggies are ranked No. 6 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

LSU at Texas A&M: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 4:17 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: LSU +410 (bet $100 to win $410) | Texas A&M -556 (bet $556 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: LSU +14.5 (-106) | Texas A&M -14.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 63.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

LSU at Texas A&M: Three things to know

  1. Texas A&M won its last game, 48-3 at South Carolina way back on Nov. 7. The Aggies had their last 2 games canceled—Tennessee and Ole Miss—because of COVID-19 complications. Texas A&M will have roughly 25,000 fans inside of Kyle Field, which seats about 100,000.
  2. LSU won at Arkansas 27-24 last week. Freshman QB TJ Finley is 2-1 since being named LSU’s starter. He connected on 27 of 42 passes for 271 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions against the Razorbacks.
  3. The Tigers trampled the Aggies 50-7 in last year’s meeting en route to a national title. LSU has owned Texas A&M since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2011, covering all 9 meetings and going 8-1 overall.

LSU at Texas A&M: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas A&M 31, LSU 21

Money line (ML)

These money line prices mean it’s either dog or nothing for me. LSU (+410) has followed up wins with losses or vice versa every game this season and that’s partially due to its inconsistent rushing performances.

The Tigers have gained at least 148 rushing yards in each of their 3 wins, but those defenses aren’t half as stout against the run as Texas A&M. The Aggies are 10th in rushing yards allowed per game and 18th in yards allowed per rush.

No way I can back LSU with a freshman quarterback under center without a run game to help him out most likely. PASS ON THE MONEY LINE.

Against the spread (ATS)

I lean LSU +14.5 (-106) because the spread has been steamed up past an even 14 and Texas A&M could come out sluggish following its long layoff. According to Pregame.com, 71% of the money and 74% of the bets placed are on the Aggies. So, being on the same side as the House with an even number is appealing.

Considering everything I laid out in the money line section, it’s too tough to make LSU an official play. Also, both teams are equally inconsistent vs. bookmakers’ expectations; LSU and Texas A&M are both 3-3 ATS this season.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 63.5 (-110) is my best bet in LSU-Texas A&M. First of all, the weather forecast predicts a rainy and slightly windy game which I think could affect the timing of each offense.

In Texas A&M senior QB Kellen Mond’s two games against LSU, he has only completed 42% of his passes and he threw 3 picks with zero touchdowns in last year’s meeting.

The year prior, Mond threw for a career-high 6 touchdowns in a seven overtime, 74-72 Texas A&M win, but only two of those touchdowns were in regulation.

Second, the Under is 7-2 in Tigers’ last 9 games as a road underdog and the Under is 5-1 in Aggies last 6 games as a favorite. GIMME UNDER 63.5 (-110) for 1.5 units.

LSU at Arkansas odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s LSU Tigers at Arkansas Razorbacks sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The LSU Tigers (2-3 overall, 2-3 SEC) travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to tangle with the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-4, 3-4) in a Saturday noon ET contest at Razorback Stadium. Below, we analyze the LSU-Arkansas college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

LSU at Arkansas: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 3:26 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: LSU -139 (bet $139 to win $100) | Arkansas +115 (bet $100 to win $115)
  • Against the spread/ATS: LSU -2.5 (-115) | Arkansas +2.5 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 63.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

LSU at Arkansas: Three things to know

  • The Tigers and Razorbacks have been surrounded by COVID-19 issues in recent weeks. Due to positive tests and quarantined team members, LSU had its scheduled Nov. 14 game against Alabama postponed. That game date came on the heels of a bye week, so the Tigers haven’t played since Oct. 31 when they lost to Auburn 48-11. For Arkansas, first-year head coach Sam Pittman was unable to coach on the sidelines last week at Florida due to a positive test.
  • LSU QB Myles Brennan is out for the season after suffering an abdominal injury on Oct. 10. Understudies T.J. Finley and Max Johnson have split the workload since. Finley and Johnson have combined for three touchdown passes and three interceptions.
  • The Tiger run defense has allowed 4.4 yards per carry, a higher figure than the program has allowed in any season over the last decade. LSU has been torched for 185 rushing yards per game over the team’s last three contests.

LSU at Arkansas: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

LSU 31, Arkansas 28

Money line (ML)

There are numerous factors that make this game one with which to be cautious. The LSU layoff and the personnel situations on both sides are chief among them. But peg LSU (-139) as a slight lean at a workable price.

On defense, the Tigers rate well in causing havoc and seem to be due for more takeaways. The Razorbacks figure to be due for some turnover regression going the other way. Also, LSU has much better talent across the board. Figure on the time off bolstering the Tigers.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS. The 2.5 line is small enough that I’ll focus on the LSU money line above.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Under is 4-1 in the last five series meetings in Arkansas, and it is 4-0 over the Razorbacks’ last four games as a home underdog. This play had more room earlier in the week with a figure over 65 (so perhaps hold back and look for a market bounceback), but the UNDER 63.5 is the lean.
