Kardell Thomas announces transfer destination

Thomas has announced his next stop.

A former five-star has found a new home after entering the transfer portal.

[autotag]Kardell Thomas[/autotag], a Louisiana native who has been with LSU since 2019, will join Florida A&M.

Thomas was one of the top offensive linemen in his class but never carved out a full-time role at LSU. Injuries hampered Thomas’ development and with younger guys surpassing him on the depth chart, it was time to look elsewhere.

Thomas is from Baton Rouge and was always a fan favorite with the purple and gold. He played 197 offensive snaps for LSU with 118 of those coming in 2021, where he made two starts against Louisiana-Monroe and Texas A&M.

Thomas was one of several depth pieces on LSU’s offensive line to enter the portal, which has left the unit undermanned throughout the spring. LSU has been looking to bolster its interior offensive line depth with the transfer portal.

With a couple of years of eligibility left, Thomas has a chance for a fresh start at FAMU.

LSU offers one of the best offensive linemen in the transfer portal

LSU is in hot pursuit of one of the best offensive linemen in the transfer portal. This one is all the way in Wyoming.

LSU is in hot pursuit of one of the best offensive linemen in the transfer portal. This one is all the way in Wyoming.

[autotag]Emmanuel Pregnon[/autotag] is a 6-foot-6, 297-pound offensive lineman originally from Denver. He was not highly recruited coming out of Thomas Jefferson High School in 2020.

He decided to take his talents to Wyoming to play for the Cowboys. After spending three years there, he is looking for a different bull to ride. LSU has entered the sweepstakes for him with multiple power five schools so far.

Pregnon would be a great guy to grab out of the portal because you can never have too many offensive linemen.

2023 LSU defensive back signee enters transfer portal

LSU has lost a member of its 2023 recruiting class in Michael Daugherty.

LSU has lost a member of its 2023 recruiting class as four-star defensive back [autotag]Michael Daugherty[/autotag] has entered his name into the transfer portal.

Daugherty is a 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back from Loganville, Georgia, where he played for Grayson High School, and he enrolled at LSU on Jan. 13. He only played in four games during his senior year before sustaining a season-ending injury that sidelined him for the remainder of his high school career.

LSU’s 2023 recruiting class was ranked as the No. 5 class in the country by 247Sports, featuring 25 high school players and 12 players from the transfer portal.

The Tigers are trying to rebuild depth in their secondary and in their linebacking core. This news will not help that at all.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] had built quite the recruiting pipeline to the state of Georgia recently. Hopefully, this won’t affect that pipeline in the long run. Kelly will either address this loss in the transfer portal or in the 2024 recruiting class.

Virginia linebacker West Weeks announces transfer to LSU

LSU adds another transfer, does it help in pursuit of a certain 2023 prospect?

Virginia linebacker transfer West Weeks has announced he will transfer to LSU. Weeks is a three-star prospect from Virginia 2021 class. He decided to go to Virginia over Colorado, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and others.

Weeks played 11 games for Virginia as a true freshman and compiled 31 total tackles and one sack. He also had five passes defended. Unfortunately, weeks suffered a broken leg in the last game against Virginia Tech.

Weeks is the ninth UVA player to transfer to another program since the end of the season, and 11 more players remain in the transfer portal.

Linebacker is a position of need for the Tigers, with Damone Clark moving on to the NFL. Over the past week, LSU had added six transfer players and now has eight total transfers. LSU has also extended an offer to Whit Weeks, West’s younger brother in the class of 2023. The younger Weeks plays for Oconee County, the same school that produced former starting quarterback Max Johnson.

Weeks looks like a linebacker that can do a little beat of everything, rush the passer, is solid against the and even does well in pass defense. He should do well under new defensive coordinator Matt House.

The Tigers have been hitting the transfer portal hard, looking to upgrade their roster to compete next season. LSU has many new talents coming in and players with high football IQ. With a new and improved coaching staff, the Tigers should be fun to watch for years to come.

How LSU football transfers are performing with their new programs

Here’s how LSU’s transfers are doing this season after leaving the program.

LSU had its fair share of transfers this offseason.

The Tigers had 12 players enter their name into the portal, most notably Dare Rosenthal and Arik Gilbert, who did not play incredible roles for LSU (Rosenthal started at left tackle, Gilbert at tight end), but were both somewhat significant losses in their own ways.

Eight of those players who ended up transferring went to Power Five schools, including Gilbert and Rosenthal, who eventually transferred to Georgia and Kentucky, respectively.

Here are all of the players that transferred from LSU in the offseason, and how they are fairing with their new teams.
