5-star LSU women’s basketball target to announce commitment on Friday

Jaloni Cambridge, the top guard in the 2024 class, will announce her college decision on Friday.

Acquiring top talent hasn’t been an issue for [autotag]Kim Mulkey[/autotag] since arriving in Baton Rouge, and she’s looking to land another elite high school prospect in five-star guard [autotag]Jaloni Cambridge[/autotag].

Cambridge, the No. 3 player in America and top guard in the 2024 class, will announce her college commitment on Friday. The product of Montverde Academy in Florida by way of Nashville, Tennessee, will announce her decision between Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, South Carolina, Louisville, Baylor and the Tigers.

Cambridge officially visited LSU in November and was on hand for the team’s national championship banner unveiling and ring ceremony. The Tigers will hope she becomes the second commit in the 2024 class alongside [autotag]Jada Richard[/autotag], who signed during the early signing period last month.

Cambridge is the second-highest-ranked uncommitted prospect in the 2024 class behind North Carolina forward [autotag]Sarah Strong[/autotag], the No. 1 player in the nation. The Tigers are in the mix for strong, as well, though they’re in a two-team race with blue-blood UConn.

Top-100 2025 small forward, LSU target recaps last season’s trip to Baton Rouge

The Tigers are still looking to pick up their first commitment in the 2025 class.

LSU men’s basketball and coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] haven’t landed a commitment in the 2025 class yet, but the team is in the mix for a lot of top players.

Top-100 small forward [autotag]Tylis Jordan[/autotag], a native of Louisville, Georgia, has taken six official visits so far. One of those trips was to Baton Rouge last September, prior to McMahon’s first season with the Tigers.

The 2025 prospect had positive things to say when recounting that trip to On3’s Joe Tipton recently.

“I like what coach (Matt) McMahon is doing down there,” he said. “Obviously when I visited there it was year one, but I like how I got to talk to each and every coach and seeing their plan. They’re slowly but surely building something over there with how they develop their players.”

Jordan ranks as the No. 79 player in the 2025 class per On3, and Alabama is currently a slim favorite to land him per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Top-100 point guard raves about visit to LSU

The Tigers are in a good position for one of the top prospects in the 2025 class.

While LSU’s men’s basketball team could be in the midst of another difficult campaign as it sits at 4-3 to start the season, it’s trying to add talent for the future.

Four-star point guard [autotag]Jalen Reece[/autotag] ranks as the No. 77 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, and the Tigers may have the inside track with the 2025 prospect. The Oak Ridge (Orlando) recruit took an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge back in October, and he had a lot of positive things to say about that trip.

“It was a cool visit. Just knowing that players like Antonio Blakeney and Ben Simmons went there, those are people I look up to,” he said, per On3’s Joe Tipton. “Knowing that it’s my turn to go and put the jersey on and just having the ability to go over there and play. (Antonio Blakeney) means a lot to me personally. That’s like my big brother. I remember last year he told me to always be the last one out of the gym. He’s given me a lot of tricks and tips and I work out with him in the summer. I love our relationship.”

LSU is currently a slim favorite to land Reese per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Coach Matt McMahon is still looking for his first commitment in the 2025 class.

5-star LSU shooting guard target breaks down Tigers ahead of official visit

The Tigers are pushing for one of the top players in the 2025 class.

LSU is currently 3-2 to start the 2022-23 men’s basketball season, and while it’s looking for a turnaround on the court this season, coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] is also focusing on acquiring future talent.

The Tigers are currently one of several teams in the mix for five-star 2025 Vermont Academy (Saxtons River, Vt.) shooting guard [autotag]Joson Sanon[/autotag]. Sanon ranks as a top-10 prospect in the 2025 class, and he’s already taken an official visit to Oklahoma.

He’ll be taking a trip to Arizona this coming weekend followed by an official visit with LSU the following weekend. He recently broke down his early impressions of the Tigers with On3’s Jamie Shaw.

“They play fast over there,” Sanon said. “When I was younger, I was a fan of LSU and everything. I grew up liking them, so, I want to see what the atmosphere is like there. I heard it was great, and I want to see for myself what that looks like.”

LSU is still looking for its first commitment in the 2025 class, and landing Sanon would be a massive addition.

LSU makes top five for 2024 top 50 shooting guard

Slowly but surely, the 2024 recruiting class is coming together.

A top 50 player in the 2024 recruiting class has trimmed his final list of schools down to five, and the LSU Tigers made the cut.

[autotag]Vyctorius Miller[/autotag] is a 6-foot-5, 170-pound, four-star shooting guard from Irvine, California where he plays for Crean Lutheran High School. The Crean Lutheran Saints finished last season 23-8 with a loss to Mater Dei in the second round of the CIF Division 1 playoffs.

The Saints start their 2023 season on November 16th as they look to win a state championship this winter. Miller trimmed his final list of schools down to LSU, USC, Oregon, Gonzaga, and the NBA G-League Ignite.

Miller does not have any crystal ball projections at this time but LSU is an 88% favorite to land him per On3. [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] and the Tigers currently have two commitments for the 2024 class in four-star power forward [autotag]Robert Miller[/autotag] and four-star point guard [autotag]Curtis Givens[/autotag].

LSU makes the final four for 2024 top 25 shooting guard Billy Richmond

The Tigers have already pulled off one major surprise this cycle, and they’ll look for another as Kentucky is the heavy favorite for Billy Richmond.

LSU’s men’s basketball team already has two commitments in the 2024 recruiting class, both of which rank in the top 100.

The Tigers currently have a top-20 class, but that ranking could rise even more if [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] can land some of the top players he has the team in the mix for, namely four-star shooting guard [autotag]Billy Richmond[/autotag].

Richmond ranks as a top-25 overall prospect in the country, and the Camden, New Jersey, prospect trimmed his list of schools down to four on Wednesday, per On3’s Joe Tipton: LSU, Kentucky, Alabama and Memphis.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Richmond, but Kentucky is the heavy favorite per On3 at 87.4% to land him. LSU has the lowest odds of the finalists at just 2.6%.

McMahon has already pulled off one major surprise in this cycle, stealing [autotag]Curtis Givens III[/autotag] from Memphis, and he’ll look to pull off another heist with a player conference rival Kentucky and John Calipari covet.

NEW: LSU basketball lands 2024 4-star PG Curtis Givens

Matt McMahon and LSU shocked the college basketball world as they picked up their second commit of the 2024 recruiting class in Curtis Givens III.

[autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers shocked the college basketball world as LSU picked up their second commit of the 2024 recruiting class in [autotag]Curtis Givens III[/autotag].

Givens is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound, four-star point guard from Memphis, Tennessee, who is ranked as the No. 4 point guard in the nation by On3. Going into his commitment today, Givens had received four Crystal Ball projections to Memphis and the Memphis Tigers a 93% favorite to land him per On3.

It would make sense for a kid from Memphis to want to stay home and play for Penny Hardaway and the Tigers, but Matt McMahon swooped in and swept him off of his feet. Givens became the second commit of the 2024 recruiting class for the LSU Tigers. The class now ranks as the No. 17 class in the country with two four-star players.

The job on the recruiting trail is not finished though as McMahon looks to land more talented players in the 2024 class.

Top 50 LSU point guard target sets commitment date

Curtis Givens will decide between his five finalists on Oct. 7.

LSU’s men’s basketball team picked up its first commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle last month in four-star power forward [autotag]Robert Miller[/autotag], and it’s now looking to add another top-50 prospect in [autotag]Curtis Givens[/autotag].

Givens will make his college decision on Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. CT, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. He’ll choose between a group of five finalists that includes Memphis, Indiana, Texas and Georgia Tech, in addition to the Tigers.

The four-star point guard is originally from Memphis where he plays for national basketball powerhouse Montverde Academy. He ranks just outside the top 50 in industry composite rankings, but On3 has him as the No. 33 player in the nation.

“Coach Matt (McMahon) has a history of developing great guards,” Givens said per On3. “When he was at Murray State, they had Ja Morant, and they had Cameron Payne. He’s a point guard coach who puts the ball in his point guard’s hands and lets them control the tempo.”

Memphis is the heavy favorite to land the local prospect. The Tigers recently picked up a pair of Crystal Ball predictions from 247Sports, and they’re an 86.4% favorite, per On3.

Top 50 2024 small forward is down to four schools

One of the best basketball players in the country for the class of 2024 has trimmed his list of potential schools down to four.

One of the best basketball players in the country for the class of 2024 has trimmed his list of potential schools down to four. The LSU Tigers made the cut.

[autotag]Rakease Passmore[/autotag] is a 6-foot-5, 180-pound, four-star small forward who is ranked as one of the top 50 players in the country for the 2024 recruiting class. He trimmed his final list of schools to four schools: LSU, Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma. Passmore is from Palatka, Florida, but he plays at Combine Academy in Asheville, North Carolina.

[autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] got his first commitment for the 2024 class on September 22nd as four-star power forward [autotag]Robert Miller III[/autotag] committed to the Tigers. Miller is another guy that is ranked in the top 50 nationally.

All of a sudden, LSU has gone from having zero commitments for the class to having possibly two guys in the top 50 nationally committing to playing in the Bayou. Hopefully, McMahon can get the job done.

NEW: LSU basketball lands 2024 four-star power forward

Matt McMahon has landed the first commitment of the 2024 class for LSU basketball.

[autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] has landed the first commitment of the 2024 class for LSU basketball. The Tigers got a commitment from four-star power forward [autotag]Robert Miller III[/autotag].

Miller is a 6-foot-10, 225-pound, four-star power forward from Pasadena, Texas, where he plays for Pasadena Memorial. The Pasadena Memorial Mavericks finished the 2022 season 23-12 with a loss to Summer Creek in the 6A playoffs.

Miller III is the first commitment for the 2024 recruiting class. He is a Top-50 player and is ranked as the No. 2 player from the state of Texas and the No. 7 power forward in the country. Hopefully, this will start a run on commitments for the class.

LSU starts the 2023 season on Nov. 6 against Mississippi Valley State at home. The Tigers will be looking to improve after a 14-19 record in their first season under McMahon. After going 2-16 in conference play, there is nowhere to go but up this winter.
