A Loyola Chicago game was hilariously halted by an Uber Eats delivery guy walking onto the court

WHO let him in???

Update: The UberEats guy who interrupted Duquesne’s men’s hoops game might, shockingly, have been fake

When the Men’s college basketball teams for Loyola Chicago and Duquesne squared off in Pittsburgh Wednesday night, both squads understandably expected a game that would go off without a hitch. Everyone would compete hard, work through a solid two halves, and go home.

That is, until someone at the game grew rather hungry. Did they perhaps go to the stadium concession stand, likely only a few minutes’ walk away from wherever they were sitting? Dearest Reader — oh heavens no.

In the early stages of the second half of this college basketball matchup, an Uber Eats delivery person walked onto the court — in the middle of the game — holding a McDonald’s order. The person was eventually so close to the action that one of the officials was actually forced to temporarily stop the game.

No, seriously. It’s as incredible as it sounds.

Is there anything better than two announcers who have never seen something like this happen before? I’m convinced the commentators are who actually sold this hilarious moment. Well, they and the officials who clearly were taken aback, too.

As for who the McDonald’s food was actually for, well, it was a random fan who had the “fortune” of appearing on the video board:

By the night’s end, bettors who wanted Duquesne to win (with a robust -7.5 pregame spread) got their wish. The Dukes would prevail 72-58 and capture their 14th win of the season. And, thanks to a clearly very hungry fan, they had a unique journey to victory for all involved.

Aggies finish MBI out strong, defeat Loyola Chicago 67-51

Aggies finish MBI out strong, defeat Loyola Chicago 67-51

Well, life comes at you fast in college basketball, and for Texas A&M, their stay in the AP Top 25 lasted for about a day, after falling to Murray State 88-79 in the quarterfinals of the Myrtle Beach Invitational, then falling off a second butt-kicking in the consolation round against Colorado 103-75, things went downhill very quickly.

On Sunday afternoon, the Aggies had one more chance to get a win to get things back on track facing Loyola Chicago for 7th place in the tournament, and man did they deliver. In what was a 67-51 romp, the Aggies led by 11 points at the half, while getting back to their usual defensive form, notching 16 steals, and increasing the lead to 21 at one point in the second half.

Head coach Buzz Williams changed up his starting lineup, while forward Henry Coleman III came off the bench for the first time this season scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds, combined with fellow forward Julius Marble, who was the second leading scorer on the day with 11 points and 5 rebounds, as the inside game found it’s rhythm early and often.

One stat to note was Texas A&M’s poor 3-point shooting, going 4-17 as a team, while guard Wade Talyor IV, who had 10 points on the day, went 0-4, and went 2-16 from 3-point land during the entire tournament. In order to match up with some of the higher-scoring teams in the SEC down the line, this stat will have to drastically improve.

The 3-2 Aggies will return to action on Friday as they remain on the road traveling to Chicago to face 3-2 Depaul at 12:00 PM CT., and the game will be aired on FS1.

Loyola Chicago makes stunning buzzer-beater with 1.8 seconds left to force overtime in opener

What a shot!

Loyola Chicago’s men’s basketball team took 1.8 seconds very seriously Monday night.

On a long inbound pass down 77-75 to Fairleigh Dickinson, Ramblers junior guard Sheldon Edwards made a last-second bucket to force an overtime with the Knights.

It’s the kind of last-ditch play from a team before the buzzer that usually goes for naught. Though, Edwards did such a fantastic job of pulling down the ball and setting himself up calmly to knock down the game-tying bucket just before the clock hit all zeroes.

Loyola Chicago has never been afraid of defying the odds, but they need to think about poor Sister Jean before packing in too many heartstopping moments this season.

What an incredible play by Edwards to force overtime. His late-game heroics set the Ramblers up for an 88-82 home OT victory to start the season.

He also led the team with 19 points on the night, while senior forward Tom Welch had a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards.

In what’s been a wild kickoff to college basketball, Loyola Chicago does what it does best: shocks the world when nobody expects it.

Breaking – Oklahoma is hiring Loyola Chicago’s Porter Moser as new head basketball coach

Breaking – Loyola Chicago’s Porter Moser has been hired as the new Oklahoma head basketball coach, per report.

The hire Sooners fans have been waiting for has finally been made as Oklahoma has hired former Loyola Chicago head coach Porter Moser to become their new head basketball coach, according to Joe Henricksen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Moser became a heavy candidate for the position suddenly late this week, as it became abundantly clear he was a distinct possibility. Earlier on Friday, it was reported that an official offer had been made to Moser and that it is was up to him to decide if the two could make a deal. Now, that deal appears to have been struck.

Moser has been the coach at Loyola Chicago since 2011, taking the program to the Final Four in 2018 and building them into a legitimate program year in and year out. This season, they were frequently ranked throughout the year and managed to make it to the Sweet 16 – toppling No. 1 seed Illinois along the way.

Sooners Wire will continue to provide updates as they happen in this massive developing story.
