Twitter reacts to Chiefs’ loss vs. Packers on ‘Sunday Night Football’

Check out some of Twitter’s top reactions to the #Chiefs’ Week 13 loss to the #Packers on “Sunday Night Football”

The Kansas City Chiefs were unable to earn their ninth win of the 2023 season against the Green Bay Packers in Week 13. The Sunday Night Football matchup was a frustrating affair for Chiefs fans who had to watch some of their favorite players leave the game with injuries that could have huge implications for their future in the AFC playoff standings.

Drue Tranquill, Donovan Smith, and Bryan Cook all left the game and may miss time in the weeks to come due to the injuries they sustained at Lambeau Field.

Penalties late in the matchup were a source of great controversy and were also part of the angst for fans of both teams on Kansas City’s final offensive drive.

The Chiefs’ propensity for playing in odd games is unmatched, and this tilt was one in a series of contests that Kansas City has lost in unbelievable fashion.

WATCH: Chiefs OL Trey Smith mic’d up vs. Eagles in Week 11

Watch #Chiefs OL Trey Smith’s mic’d up segment against the Philadelphia #Eagles in Week 11.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ brutal second-half collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11 was a disappointing development during the highly anticipated Super Bowl LVII rematch on Monday Night Football. Few saw the loss coming when Kansas City entered halftime with a two-score lead, and even late in the game, it seemed that the Chiefs had every opportunity to earn back their lead.

Chiefs lineman Trey Smith was locked in during all four quarters, and while Kansas City was playing from behind, his efforts never waned. Smith was mic’d up for the Week 11 tilt and gave fans an inside look at his on-field personality during the Chiefs’ loss.

While the final score of this game left something to be desired for fans in Kansas City, the efforts of the Chiefs’ players were admirable, even if they couldn’t pull out a win.

Expect the team to play with more grit in Week 12 as they look to earn their eighth win of the 2023 season against the Las Vegas Raiders in Sin City.

Twitter reacts to Chiefs’ Week 11 loss to Eagles on ‘Monday Night Football’

Twitter was buzzing after the #Chiefs’ Week 11 loss to the #Eagles on Monday Night Football.

The Kansas City Chiefs dropped their Week 11 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in brutal fashion after jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first half of the Super Bowl LVII rematch.

With momentum on its side coming out of halftime, Kansas City was shut out in the game’s final two quarters and was completely outmatched by Philadelphia’s effort on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs’ season is still far from over. Losses are part of life in the NFL, and while primetime defeats lend themselves to a particularly painful sting, Kansas City can still pick up the pieces to finish its schedule with strong showings through the end of the year.

But the team’s fans were absolutely inconsolable on social media after this loss to the Eagles. Their reactions ranged from distraught to angry to comical as they sought to cope with the Chiefs’ latest disappointing showing.

Twitter reacts to Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s brutal drop vs. Eagles

#Chiefs fans were less than thrilled with WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling after Kansas City’s loss to the #Eagles on Monday night.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw victory slip out of their hands in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football when wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a perfectly thrown pass from Patrick Mahomes late in the fourth quarter.

While one play rarely defines an entire game, Valdes-Scantling’s butterfingers absolutely cost Kansas City a chance at victory late in the Super Bowl LVII rematch, and typified the Chiefs’ offensive struggles both in Monday night’s game specifically, and during the team’s entire 2023 season.

Even with a resurgent defense leading the way and the NFL’s reigning MVP under center, it seems that Kansas City just can’t catch a break when its offense has the ball in pivotal moments of crucial games. While Valdes-Scantling is just the latest culprit in this regard, the frustration festering among Chiefs fans on social media was evident in the deluge of posts about his miscue after the game.

Skyy Moore expects more of himself and Chiefs’ offense moving forward

#Chiefs WR Skyy Moore told reporters that he expects more from himself and Kansas City’s offense as a whole after a tough loss to the Broncos

Second-year wideout Skyy Moore and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs’ receiving corps have had an underwhelming start to their 2023.

In the offseason, there was a buzz around Moore and the potential for that the Chiefs’ receivers might be able to take a serious step forward, but that has yet to happen.

Moore and the Chiefs’ offense struggled mightily against the Broncos in week eight, but Moore expects more of himself and the team heading into week nine.

“Yeah, [I need to] just do a better job of finishing the opportunities that I get,” Moore said in comments to the media on Thursday. “When they come, just make the play.”

The 23-year-old receiver was asked if the rotation amongst the receivers causes any issues finding a rhythm. Moore believes it is beneficial to the receivers.

“I don’t really see it as a challenge,” Moore explained. “We’re hitting – everybody is getting in, it’s seven totally different receivers, so new weapons each play.”

Week eight was certainly a disappointment offensively, but Moore expects this offense to be on the same page against the Dolphins in Germany.

“I would expect us to come out firing on all cylinders,” Moore continued. “I feel like every position group knows what they have to do, and we’re going to hone into the details and get the job done.”

The Chiefs will have to be locked in on both sides of the ball against a surging Dolphins team that is averaging 33.9 points per game.

LB Leo Chenal received Chiefs’ highest PFF grade in Week 8

Second-year linebacker Leo Chenal earned the highest PFF grade of any #Chiefs player in Kansas City’s Week 8 loss to the #Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs fell flat against the Denver Broncos in Week 8, earning their second loss of the season on the road in brutal fashion.

While this game was seen by many fans as an inflection point for Kansas City, not all was lost after Pro Football Focus combed through each play to grade the Chiefs’ performance.

Second-year linebacker Leo Chenal was one of the team’s only standouts in the disappointing loss and earned the highest mark of any player who participated for Kansas City.

Chenal’s tenacity was a good sign for a Chiefs linebacking corps that has suffered its share of injuries heading into the middle part of the NFL’s 2023 schedule. With star backer Nick Bolton out with a wrist and Willie Gay Jr.’s latest tailbone injury set to play a factor in the unit’s depth moving forward, Chenal may be counted on to play a larger role in Kansas City’s defense in the coming weeks.

Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Patrick Mahomes ‘is a competitor’ after playing through illness

#Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling told reporters that Patrick Mahomes “is a competitior” after playing through illness against the #Broncos

While it would be impossible to pin the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 8 loss to the Denver Broncos on any single factor, quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ illness certainly didn’t work in his team’s favor.

Veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling commented on what the reigning MVP went through to play in the divisional matchup after the game’s conclusion and praised the toughness that Mahomes showed.

“[QB Patrick Mahomes] is a competitor,” Valdes-Scantling said. “He can have no legs and still try to run around and throw the football. As long as he can suit up, he’s going to be out there. He’s out there for a reason. We got the utmost confidence that he’s going to go out there and give it his all, and that’s what he did today.”

Mahomes may have given his all, but fans are sure to speculate about whether his condition should have warranted action for veteran backup Blaine Gabbert, who did not see the field.

Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman on muffed punt vs. Broncos: ‘I got greedy, I got selfish’

#Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman took accountability for his muffed punt against the #Broncos, telling reporters that he “got greedy”

Mecole Hardman’s struggles on punt returns are well documented, even if he has made some incredible plays for the Kansas City Chiefs on punt returns. The team’s Week 8 loss to the Denver Broncos was defined by miscues in every phase of the game, but Hardman’s muffed punt late in the game was one of the more egregious mistakes that led to the bad defeat.

Hardman spoke to the media after the contest and was contrite in his response to a question about the mistake that cost Kansas City a chance to keep the game close. In his comments, he left no doubt that he only has himself to blame for the special teams turnover.

“I got greedy; I got selfish,” He explained. “Trying to make a play down there. Should have been a fair catch or let the ball bounce. That’s [a] problem, like the reason that we probably lost the game. I just let that thing go or fair catch it and secure the catch. I believe we were still down eight—five.

“That’s probably the one [play] that cost the game for us. I’ll probably take responsibility for that one. I definitely take responsibility actually for losing that game. Because you never know,[I] let that ball go, I catch it at the five-[yard-line] or wherever it was, and we go down to score and that’s it. So I’ve just got to be more smart.”

Kansas City has been on the lookout for a contributor who can help buoy the punt return unit and seemed to have thought that Hardman was ready to jump back into the fray after the Chiefs acquired him via trade earlier in October.

Now, the team may have to reconsider their approach on special teams. General manager Brett Veach would be wise to assess his options on the trade market to find a player whom Kansas City can rely on in key situations on punt returns.

Twitter reacts to Chiefs’ disappointing loss to Broncos

Check out some of Twitter’s best reactions to the #Chiefs’ loss to the #Broncos in Week 8.

The Kansas City Chiefs dropped their Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos in disappointing fashion, earning their second loss of the 2023 season in a game where they struggled to build momentum from the first snap.

Patrick Mahomes was dealing with illness, star linebacker Nick Bolton was out due to injury, and players on the periphery struggled to make much of an impact against a Broncos team that played with reckless abandon and had nothing to lose.

Games like this aren’t uncommon for Kansas City. After winning two Super Bowls in the Mahomes era, the Chiefs have a constant target on their backs, and games against them are circled on the schedules of every opponent they face.

While this was a sloppy loss that felt out of Kansas City’s reach at nearly every step, the Chiefs are still tied for the best record in the AFC and should have no problem securing their place in the playoffs.

Check out some of the top reactions to the Week 8 tilt from Twitter as fans and the media said their piece about Kansas City’s humbling defeat:

Skyy Moore reflects on Week 1 loss, goals moving forward

Receiver Skyy Moore reflected on the #Chiefs’ Week 1 loss and told reporters about his goals moving forward at a recent press conference

Week one was certainly a disappointment for the Kansas City Chiefs, especially the performance from the receivers.

The drops have been well-documented, but Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney — two players that have high expectations in 2023 — combined for one catch and one yard on eight targets.

The second-year wideout, Moore, spoke to the media yesterday, explaining why the receiver group’s performance was underwhelming last Thursday.

“I feel like it was a lack of focus in [the receiver room] and I feel like doing the little things consistently every day is going to keep your focus throughout the week, throughout the day,” Moore explained. “I feel like we were lacking in that area.”

Despite the struggles against the Lions, Moore feels like the receiver room is still trending in the right direction and is focused on the upcoming week.

“It’s been good. We had a good practice yesterday,” Moore said. “We got to watch the film as soon as we came in on Tuesday, and we are onto Jacksonville.”

Catching the ball was definitely an issue in week one, but Moore thinks it was not their best performance overall.

“Every aspect, we understand that wasn’t our best performance,” Moore continued. “It needs to get better.”

Although Moore feels like the receivers let Patrick Mahomes down, the 23-year-old receiver knows that Mahomes will continue to trust his weapons.

“Pat [Mahomes] is great with stuff like that – always making sure you’re in the right head space,” Moore told reporters. “You see it all the time – if you see somebody drop the ball in the game, he is coming right back [to] you, trying to get you to forget about it. I feel like the whole locker room has been doing good. It’s just flipping to the next page.”

Mahomes will require better output from his receivers, as the Chiefs head into a tough road game in Jacksonville.
