Rams vs. Cardinals head-to-head

The Rams and Cardinals square off twice a year as divisional rivals, and in some cases, they meet 3 times like last season when both made the playoffs and met in the wild-card round.

The Rams have owned this rivalry since coach Sean McVay took over in 2017. They’ve gone 10-1 in 11 meetings — including last year’s playoff meeting. The Cardinals have covered the spread in just 1 of their last 10 meetings as the Rams have scored at least 30 points 8 times along that stretch. The Over/Under has been an even 5-5 split in those 10 matchups.

Monday Night Football picks and prop bets: The Rams have to prove themselves against the Cardinals

The Rams’ division title hopes hang on a win in Arizona.

The Los Angeles Rams propped themselves up as a Super Bowl favorite early in the season. A 7-1 start had them fighting for the top spot in the NFC as MVP chatter swirled around Matthew Stafford’s name. Sean McVay, with a big-armed quarterback able to implement his offense, was going to get another chance to win a world title.

But it turned out the Rams’ hype train wasn’t insulated. As the temperatures dropped, so did LA’s Super Bowl chances. McVay didn’t win a single contest in November. That three-game streak was halted by a showdown with Urban Meyer’s hapless Jaguars in Week 13, the NFL’s equivalent of fixing your swing in the minor leagues. Week 14 brings the Rams back to the majors.

The Arizona Cardinals hold the NFC’s top spot despite playing multiple games without Kyler Murray or DeAndre Hopkins. Arizona’s revival has been a product of steady offensive play and a suddenly dominant defense that ranks third in the league in total DVOA. The backbone of that unit is a no-fly zone secondary that’s allowed an 83.3 passer rating in coverage and given defensive coordinator Vance Joseph the confidence to blitz more than all but two other teams in the league.

That leaves us with a showdown between Los Angeles’ fireworks factory of an offense against the foam-spraying firetrucks of the Arizona defense——along with some extremely fun cameos from guys like Murray and Aaron Donald. This should be the opposite of last week’s wind-addled, ground-heavy attack in Buffalo. So who will come out ahead?

Let’s talk about it. All odds via Tipico.

First look: Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals odds and lines

Looking at Monday’s Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals Week 14 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Los Angeles Rams (8-4) face the Arizona Cardinals (10-2) in a huge NFC West matchup with playoff implications in Week 14. They face each other Monday night at 8:15 p.m. ET at State Farm Stadium. Below, we look at the Rams vs. Cardinals odds and lines; check back for our NFL picks and predictions.

The Rams are coming off a 37-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars to snap a three-game losing streak. They held the Jaguars to 197 yards of offense and forced two turnovers. QB Matthew Stafford passed for 295 yards and three touchdowns, RB Sony Michel rushed for 121 yards and WR Cooper Kupp caught eight passes for 129 yards and a score. They trail the Cardinals by two games in the division with five to go.

The Cardinals got QB Kyler Murray and WR DeAndre Hopkins back from injury after missing three games and picked up a 33-22 road win over the Chicago Bears. They are now 7-0 on the road and are the first team since the 1968 Dallas Cowboys to win their first seven road games and win each by at least 10 points. Murray accounted for four touchdowns, passing for a pair and rushing for another two. Their magic number to clinch the division is three.
