Look: Two Bengals players become fathers on same day

An amazing moment for two Bengals players.

Two current Cincinnati Bengals players welcomed newborn babies on the same day.

On March 15, both Evan McPherson and Logan Wilson became first-time dads at the same hospital, making sure the two families got a photo together which was posted to Instagram.

Wilson and his wife, Morgan, named their daughter Kambry James Wilson, sharing photos in which Logan Wilson wore a T-shirt that said “Girl dad.”

McPherson and his wife, Gracie, named their daughter Merritt Hayes McPherson, sharing photos in which Evan McPherson was wearing a hat that read “Girl dad.”

Ravens’ Mark Andrews speaks on Logan Wilson hit that injured him

Mark Andrews offers his thoughts on Logan Wilson.

Last November, Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson found himself in the middle of a national controversy due to a hit that injured Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews.

Wilson used the controversial “hip-drop tackle” to bring down Andrews, who is only just now getting back from rehab to help the Ravens during the playoffs.

Asked about Wilson and the situation that led to the injury, Andrews made it clear he doesn’t blame Wilson.

“It kind of was just an unfortunate event,” Andrews said, according to Clifton Brown & Ryan Mink of the Ravens’ official website. “I’m just going to let everybody else do their thing. If they want to ban the tackle, fine. I’m going to go hard no matter what. I don’t blame the guy. He was just playing hard.”

As Andrews hints, the league figures to look at that form of tackle this offseason, potentially banning it.

No matter what the NFL ends up doing with the highly debated tackle, Andrews isn’t blaming Wilson for doing something that is only just now becoming a problem for the league.

Even in the immediate aftermath of the Andrews injury, other Ravens players rushed to Wilson’s defense, too.

Bengals’ Zac Taylor updates Logan Wilson’s injury status

Zac Taylor on the Logan Wilson injury.

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor shined a bigger light on the Logan Wilson injury on Monday.

Speaking with reporters a day removed from his team’s 16-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Taylor revealed that Wilson suffered a sprained ankle.

Like his classifications for players like Tee Higgins and Cam Taylor-Britt, Taylor would merely say Wilson is a day-by-day thing to monitor.

Wilson left the loss to the Steelers very late in the game, so it was unclear if he would have been able to return. Based on the comments from Taylor, it sounds like he might be able to give it a go a week from Monday on primetime against the Jaguars.

Bengals LB Logan Wilson suffered ankle injury vs. Steelers

Bengals LB Logan Wilson went down with an injury.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson left the team’s Week 12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the fourth quarter with an apparent ankle injury.

Wilson was involved in a tackle of a ball-carrier that got his leg trapped up under him and he needed the help of trainers to leave the field.

While he walked off under his own power, Wilson went to the blue medical tent.

After the game, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Wilson suffered an injury but didn’t have any other updates to provide.

We’ll update with more as the team provides them, but the Bengals don’t play again until the Week 13 edition of “Monday Night Football” on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Even Ravens players don’t have a problem with Bengals LB Logan Wilson

Even Ravens players are defending Logan Wilson.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson came under fire from national media and some NFL fans for his involvement in multiple plays that got Baltimore Ravens players injured on Saturday night.

That included the infamous hip-drop-styled tackle that hurt Ravens tight end Mark Andrews.

The narrative got off and running so quickly that Bengals head coach Zac Taylor took the end of a press conference announcing Joe Burrow’s season-ending injury to rip into those spreading the narrative.

And Wilson now has some unexpected defenders besides his head coach — in the form of Ravens players.

Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard was one of those front and center with nothing but good things to say about Wilson.

“Everybody respects him. I don’t think it was intentional or dirty,” Ricard said, according to Ryan Mink of the Ravens’ official site. “I think he’s a great player. I have respect for him and think he plays the right way. I’ve never had a problem with him or heard that anyone had a problem with him.”

Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen had this to say on the subject of the tackles, too: “I hate that Mark is hurt. Prayers for him. But at the end of the day, we play football. We play a tackling sport. I don’t think a hip drop tackle is that bad of a thing. How else do you want us to tackle? Just let the guy run past you?”

Between this and the full-court defense from Taylor, it would appear the budding narrative around Wilson will end up squashed, though with all in agreement that the hip-drop tackle itself is something the NFL needs to look at after the season.

Watch: Bengals’ Zac Taylor slams media narrative about LB Logan Wilson

Zac Taylor had a little something extra to say at a press conference.

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor nearly left the podium after announcing the season-ending injury suffered by Joe Burrow.

Nearly.

Taylor actually paused mid-departure and announced he had something else he wanted to say, then went off on a tangent about the public perception of linebacker Logan Wilson coming out of Thursday night’s loss.

Wilson was involved in multiple plays where Ravens were injured during the game, with one of them the now-infamous hip-drop tackle on Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews.

While they didn’t outright call Wilson a dirty player per se, some major media pointed out his presence around injuries during the game and Ravens coach John Harbaugh mused after the game if the tackle on Andrews had been necessary.

Here’s the full clip, courtesy of WCPO’s Caleb Noe:

Wilson has never been called for a personal foul and has been an upstanding member of the organization for years, so Taylor attacking this “reckless” narrative early in its lifecycle would seem to be warranted.

Logan Wilson sets up Joe Burrow TD pass with interception of Brock Purdy

Joe Burrow took quick advantage of a 49ers turnover

Logan Wilson intercepted Brock Purdy in the fourth quarter on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

The next play saw Joe Burrow find a wide-open Ja’Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals suddenly led the San Francisco 49ers, 24-10.

The pick by Wilson was the second straight pass by Purdy that that the Bengals intercepted.

Two questionable calls stick out in Rams’ loss to Bengals

Did Tutu Atwell step out of bounds? Did Logan Wilson have control of the ball on his first interception?

The Rams didn’t lose to the Bengals on Monday night because of the officials. They beat themselves, going 1-for-11 on third down, 1-for-4 in the red zone and committing two turnovers. The Bengals didn’t play well, either. But the Rams made far too many mistakes to overcome in this game, which they lost, 19-16.

That being said, there were two turning points in Monday night’s contest that certainly didn’t go the Rams’ way, and those plays were at the mercy of the officials.

The first was on Los Angeles’ opening drive when Tutu Atwell took the toss on an end-around and appeared to turn it into a 24-yard touchdown. It was originally ruled a touchdown, but after further review, the officials decided there was enough evidence to overturn it and rule that Atwell stepped out of bounds.

The second was on Logan Wilson’s interception in the second quarter. The Rams were up 6-3 at the time and had a chance to build on their lead, but on the first play of the drive, Matthew Stafford threw a pick over the middle. It was ruled an interception, but it looked like Wilson failed to maintain complete control of the ball. It appeared to move as he went to the ground, but there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn it.

We’ll take a look at both plays below, beginning with Atwell’s run.
