Ranking the Pac-12 QBs through Week 3: OSU’s Chance Nolan takes a big leap

PFF ranks all 12 starting quarterbacks in the Conference of Champions after Week 3, and OSU’s Chance Nolan moves up in a big way.

The Pac-12 quarterback rankings, according to Pro Football Focus, fluctuated in a big way this week with a particular signal caller in Corvallis taking a big leap thanks to playing an FCS team.

On the other end of the spectrum, Colorado is still having a lot of problems finding the end zone. Although UCLA is winning, the ratings for Dorian Thompson-Robinson say otherwise as his production could be better.

Oregon’s Bo Nix stayed put in the rankings despite a great game with five touchdowns against No. 12. We don’t pretend to understand how these ratings come about, we just report the facts and PFF says Nix is in the middle of the Pac. Here’s how the 12 quarterbacks ranks in the Conference of Champions after Week 3.

Oregon men’s basketball releases 2022-23 schedule

The Oregon men’s basketball team was able to fill out the 2022-23 schedule as the Pac-12 has announced its pairings for the season.

In just two and a half months, the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team will open Pac-12 play with a home game against Washington State.

The Dec. 1 date might be the earliest Oregon has ever started conference action. Earlier on Thursday, the Pac-12 announced the entire schedule for all of the teams. Everyone begins the first weekend of December with a few games before a break for non-conference matchups before picking it up again on Dec. 29.

After the Ducks host the Cougars, they’ll make a quick trip down to Pauley Pavilion to take on UCLA. Once conference play is in the full swing of things, the traditional road partnerships will continue.

Oregon State will visit Matthew Knight Arena on New Year’s Eve and the Ducks will go up to Corvallis on Feb. 25. The Pac-12 tournament is scheduled for March 8-11 in Las Vegas.

When the NCAA selection committee convenes in March, Oregon might have a weak strength of schedule as the Ducks do not play a true non-conference road game this season.

Oregon’s linebackers ranked among the Top 10 in the nation

With Noah Sewell and Justin FLowe leading the way, Oregon’s linebacking group ranks among the nation’s best in 2022.

The 2022 college football season could be the year of the linebacker as there are many linebackers across the country that have NFL scouts salivating over their potential.

Our friends over at On3.com have ranked the Top 10 linebacker groups in the country, and the Ducks represent themselves quite well among teams such as Alabama, Georgia and Notre Dame.

The linebacker spot should be a strength for the Ducks. Under the tutelage of head coach Dan Lanning and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi, players such as Noah Sewell and Justin Flowe should go to the next level as far as on-the-field play is concerned.

We have the list below and we have included each player’s career stats. Unless Oregon meets Alabama in the College Football Playoff, thankfully the Ducks will not have to face Will Anderson, Jr, whose statistics fly off the chart.

Oregon does have to face Georgia, however, and although the Bulldogs lost a great deal of talent off last year’s national championship squad, they have the ability to replace that talent with more five-star recruits.

Where Athlon Sports ranks each of the Pac-12 quarterbacks

Caleb Williams and Cameron Rising are understandably high on the list. But Bo Nix? He still has a lot to prove, according to these rankings.

For those counting, and evidently, Athlon Sports did, there are 131 college football teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. That’s 131 starting quarterbacks and the site did the painstaking work of ranking every single one of them.

So where do the most likely starting signal callers that navigate the Pac-12 rank? Some of the results may be surprising and possibly questionable. They think highly of USC’s Caleb Williams, although he hasn’t played one game in the conference.

But when it comes to new Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, who has three years of experience in the SEC … well, let’s say their ranking isn’t quite as high as his counterpart in Los Angeles.

We have included how each Pac-12 quarterback ranks within the conference, their overall ranking, and a snippet of what Athlon had to say about each player.

The best player Oregon will face each week during the 2022 season

Oregon will face plenty of talent on the other side of the field this season. Here is the best player for each of the Ducks’ opponents in 2022.

Aside from one or two opponents, there are almost no gimmes on the 2022 Oregon Duck football schedule this season. Although the official strength-of-schedule is somewhere in the middle, don’t tell that to the actual players and coaches who have to prepare for the Georgia, BYU and Utah.

Besides the teams as a whole, Oregon is going to face some very good players that will present many problems for coordinators Kenny Dillingham on the offense and Tosh Lupoi on defense.

We’ve decided to go through the Ducks’ schedule and figure out which player week-to-week will cause those coaches to lose the most sleep as Oregon looks to go through the fall.

It would have been easy to just pick the quarterback from each team, but that wouldn’t be fair to the other highly talented players that the Ducks will see on the field this year. Sometimes, yes, the quarterback will be that team’s best player, but not always. Here’s a look at the best player Oregon will face each week.

11 players we’re most excited to watch in the Oregon Ducks’ spring game

From freshmen to transfers, to players getting their first real chance, there are several Ducks that fans are eager to watch on Saturday.

From transfers to freshmen, to those who haven’t had the chance until now, there are several Oregon Duck football players fans are eager to see on April 23 when Dan Lanning gets to wear an Oregon headset on the sideline for the first time.

The Ducks will feature a lot of very young, but very talented players who are eager to show off the new style of play under Lanning’s and his staff’s tutelage, and their fans are eager to watch them perform and have a good time.

But let’s face it. Any time you get to be inside Autzen Stadium with nice weather (it never rains) and enjoy some Oregon football, it’s a good time.

These are a few players fans will be on the lookout for.

The NFL teams that need Deshaun Watson the most, ranked

Almost every team in the NFL should be trying to trade for Deshaun Watson.

It’s official. Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 25-year-old quarterback officially requested a trade Thursday, making it even more likely that we’ve seen the last of him in a Texans uniform.

And with that request, Watson immediately made himself the most valuable trade asset in NFL history. The team that eventually lands him will not only be getting an ascending and transcendent talent at the sport’s most important position, but they’ll also be getting him at a discount. With his guaranteed money still being pinned on Houston, Watson will cost his new team $146.5 million over the next five years. That $29.3 million annual average would rank 11th among quarterbacks, right behind Ryan Tannehill.

So, yeah. There should be a lot of teams calling up the Texans over the next few weeks. Knowing that, we’ve ranked every NFL team based on how eager they should be to trade for Watson this offseason. We’ll start at the bottom of the list…
