Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Chargers: Team connections

Player who’ve played for both the #Bills and #Chargers:

The Buffalo Bills will visit the Los Angeles Chargers for a matchup on Saturday evening in Week 16.

It’s a brand new NFL weekend with plenty on the line for both teams. But for some on the Bills (8-6) and Chargers (5-9) there is a bit more at stake than others.

That’s because multiple players or coaches for both sides are going to be playing against their former teams. That can create a little bit of extra motivation for them heading into Saturday… as expected.

With that, here’s a quick list of connections the two teams have with one another ahead of the upcoming matchup at So-Fi Stadium:

The Buffalo Bills easily won a thrilling 31-10 final in their Week 15 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Bills (8-6) had a few players that stood out above the rest in this one. On defense, the Bills had a strong showing out of multiple players, including cornerback Christian Benford who had an interception against the Cowboys (10-4).

But not every player helped pull out the win. If Buffalo is to crack the 2023 postseason, they’ll need better performances from these players.

According to Pro Football Focus, they’ll need these players specifically to start to play at a high level.

PFF: 5 lowest-graded Bills players on defense in Week 12

Not their best day:

The Buffalo Bills narrowly lost in overtime to the Philadelphia Eagles, 37-34, in their Week 12 matchup on Sunday afternoon.

The Bills (6-6) had a few players that stood out above the rest on the defensive side. It’s hard to say that the Bills defense did well when they had conceded the most points in a game this season, but this was against a dangerous Philadelphia offense who only have one loss in the 2023 NFL season.

With multiple injuries on the defensive side of the ball, the Bills had their work cut out for them and performed to their best. Ultimately could not keep the Eagles out of the end zone in overtime.

Leading to poor play down the stretch late was subpar play from some members of the defense. These players will need to elevate their game in the future, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Nee York Jets, 32-6, in their Week 11 matchup on Sunday afternoon.

The Bills (6-5) had a few players that stood out above the rest in this one. On offense, the Bills were lead by quarterback Josh Allen who led a new-look offense with Joe Brady now calling the shots as offensive coordinator.

But not everyone had a game to remember, defense included.

To get more wins, Buffalo will hope such efforts will reverse throughout the rest of the 2023 season as the push toward the postseason unfolds… particularly, they’ll need better efforts from these players, according to Pro Football Focus.

First look at Rasul Douglas, Linval Joseph in new Bills uniform

The new look for the new guys:

The Buffalo Bills have both cornerback Rasul Douglas and defensive tackle active and on the field for their Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bills landed Douglas at the 2023 NFL trade deadline in a deal with the Green Bay Packers.

After that, Joseph was signed. He was previously a free agent throughout the first half of the 2023 season.

A third piece, running back Leonard Fournette, also signed in Buffalo this week. However, he’s not yet active. He’s being given more time to prepare.

But at least we now have our first looks at Douglas and Joseph with their new team. Check them out both, pre-game against the Bengals at Paycor Stadium, in local media clips shared below:
