Where Oregon goes at TE position following 5-star Linkon Cure news

With 5-star tight end Linkon Cure sticking with Kansas State, where do the Oregon Ducks go from here at the TE position?

There was an expectation from many that Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks would be able to pull off a massive flip during the Early Signing Period and land 5-star tight end Linkon Cure in the 2025 class.

After Cure’s visit to Eugene over the weekend for the Ducks’ game against the Washington Huskies, the buzz was strongly in favor of Oregon, who had picked up multiple predictions to land the No. 1 TE in the class over his hometown Kansas State Wildcats.

However, as we often see in recruiting, things changed late overnight, and Cure ended up announcing on Wednesday morning that he would be staying home and signing with the Wildcats.

So where do the Ducks go from here at the tight end position?

They have a few different options. The Ducks did sign 4-star TE Vander Ploog on Wednesday, the No. 10 TE in the 2025 class, and there are other prospects on the board for them to still target. Most notably, we will likely see them ramp up the heat for 4-star TE Andrew Olesh, the No. 3 TE in the class.

Olesh has been committed to the Michigan Wolverines since July, but the Ducks have been recruiting him heavily over the last few months. Now that Cure is off of the board, we may see Oregon ramp up those efforts once again before Olesh signs on Friday.

Should the Ducks miss out on Olesh as well, though, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. It feels like almost a sure thing that Oregon will work to land a tight end via the transfer portal this offseason to pair another veteran and starting-caliber pass-catcher with Sadiq in the 2026 offense.

After that, we also know that the Ducks have a commitment from 5-star TE Kendre Harrison, the No. 1 TE in the 2026 class.

While the loss of Linkon Cure may have thrown a wrench in the current plans, we’ve seen Dan Lanning and his staff recalibrate and bounce back before, and it should be no different this time around.

5-star tight end Linkon Cure announces college commitment

The Oregon Ducks missed out on the commitment from 5-star tight end Linkon Cure, who stuck with Kansas State.

The Early Signing Period in college football always brings a ton of fireworks, and this year did not disappoint.

Unfortunately for the Oregon Ducks, some of those fireworks came at the expense of the program, with 5-star tight end Linkon Cure announcing that he would stick with his hometown Kansas State Wildcats rather than flip his commitment to Oregon, as many had expected.

Cure, the No. 1 TE in the 2025 class, officially signed his national letter of intent with Kansas State on Wednesday.

Landing Cure would have been a massive win for Dan Lanning and his staff, as they look to stock the tight end room with elite talent and depth that will be needed after this season ends. Both Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert will be graduating, leaving Kenyon Sadiq as the only player at the position with experience in the offense.

Cure picked up multiple predictions to flip to Oregon after taking a visit to Eugene this past weekend for the game against the Washington Huskies, but ultimately decided to stay home with the Wildcats.

Kansas State gets historic commitment from tight end Linkon Cure

What a way to kick off the new era of Big 12 football.

The beginning of a new era in the Big 12 started with a bang on Jul. 1 when the [autotag]Kansas State Wildcats[/autotag] earned the first commitment from a five-star prospect in school history.

In a major recruiting win, the Wildcats and head coach Chris Klieman were able to keep five-star tight end Linkon Cure in the Sunflower State choosing KSU over the likes of the Oregon Ducks and Texas A&M Aggies.

Prior to his commitment, linebacker Marvin Simmons of the 2001 class was the highest-rated pledge in school history. He was rated as a four-star with a player rating of 0.9787. Cure is rated as a five-star and has a player rating of 0.9837.

Cure has the size and athletic ability to dominate up the seams on the football field. His brother, Leyton, recently transferred to Kansas from Division II Fort Hays State. It is a new level of sibling rivalry in the Cure household.

Cure’s commitment was announced by On3 among other outlets on Monday.

Cure becomes the No. 10 commitment of the 2025 recruiting class at Kansas State. The Wildcats sit at No. 14 in the new-look Big 12 and No. 62 overall. This is the type of commitment that can create a ripple effect for Klieman and the staff in Manhattan.

5-star TE Linkon Cure announces college commitment

5-star tight end Linkon Cure announced his college commitment between the Oregon Ducks and Kansas State Wildcats.

One of the top available players in the 2025 recruiting class announced his college commitment on Monday afternoon, and it unfortunately didn’t land in the hands of the Oregon Ducks this time.

5-star tight end Linkon Cure announced that he would be committing to the Kansas State Wildcats, staying in his home state instead of joining the Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, or Kansas Jayhawks.

Cure is rated as the No. 2 tight end in the 2025 class, and the No. 26 overall player. He took an official visit to Eugene last month and left with some recruiting analysts thinking that the Ducks had a really good chance to land him.

A few days ago, the Ducks landed a commitment from 4-star TE Da’Saahn Brame, the No. 5 TE in the 2025 class. Once this happened, it appeared less likely that Cure would be committing to Oregon.

Oregon Ducks target 5-star TE Linkon Cure announces commitment date

5-star tight end Linkon Cure will announce his commitment between Kansas State and Oregon in the coming days.

One of the best players in the 2025 class is set to come off of the board in the coming days, and the Oregon Ducks are in the running to land him.

On Thursday afternoon, five-star tight end Linkon Cure announced he planned to announce his commitment on July 1 at 2 p.m. PT. Cure will be deciding among Oregon, Kansas State, Kansas and Texas A&M.

Standing 6 feet, 6 inches and 220 pounds, Cure is one of the most dominant offensive players in the 2025 class. He is the No. 26 player overall and No. 2 TE in the cycle.

After recently taking an official visit to Oregon, Cure spoke highly of Eugene and the Ducks, but it still might be an uphill battle for Dan Lanning to land his commitment. At this point, Cure is projected to go to Kansas State, his hometown team. The Wildcats have five crystal ball predictions on 247Sports.

We’ll see if Lanning and his staff can make one final swing in the next couple of days and sway the momentum.

2025 5-star TE Linkon Cure has announced his commitment date

2025 5-star TE Linkon Cure is set to announce his collegiate destination next week

It’s been a busy summer for Texas A&M on the recruiting trail, as new head coach Mike Elko has already landed 15 commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, as three-star wide receiver Tristan Norman became the newest member of the cycle earlier this week.

With new offensive coordinator Collin Klein taking over the Aggies’ offense this coming season, the tight end position has become even more important to the future game plans in Klein’s system, both in the running and passing game.

Already landing a commitment from 2025 four-star tight end Kiotti Armstrong, Elko and his staff still have their eyes on another top ranked prospect at the position, as five-star tight end Linkon Cure.

Returning to College Station for an official visit on June 7, Cure will now make his final decision on Monday, July 1, choosing between Oregon, Kansas State, Kansas, and Texas A&M, as the Wildcats remain to the favorites while the Aggies are right behind them in the pecking order.

Heading into his senior season, Goodland, Kansas native Linkon Cure has continued to rise in the ranks due to his elite athleticism. Standing at an imposing 6-6 and 220 pounds, he possesses a ton of upside in the passing game as a jumbo wide receiver in high school. He can consistently separate off the snap and utilize his large catch radius on the boundary.

According to 247Sports, Cure is currently positioned as the 26th-ranked prospect in the 2025 cycle, the second-ranked tight end, and the second-ranked prospect in Kansas.

5-Star tight end recruit names Oregon in Top 4 schools

Linkon Cure, a 5-star tight end recruit in the class of 2025, named the Oregon Ducks as one of his top four schools on Friday.

Things are heating up for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting trail. In May, the Ducks coaching staff picked up verbal commitments from two 4-star recruits, and Oregon’s official visit schedule is loading up.

The latest Ducks’ prospect to pop up is Linkon Cure, a 5-star tight end in the class of 2025, who announced his top four schools on Friday, including Oregon. 247Sports ranks Cure as the No. 2 TE in the 2025 class and No. 26 player overall.

Standing at six feet six inches, Cure has an elite catch radius, even at the tight-end position, and at 220 pounds, he doesn’t lack speed. In space, that speed and agility makes Cure a threat after the catch as well.

Cure is from Goodland, Kansas, which explains the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas State Wildcats’ inclusion in his top four. Multiple 247Sports recruiting insiders have logged crystal ball predictions for Cure to choose K-State, but nothing is said and done.

Oregon has recruited tight ends in recent cycles, bringing in Kenyon Sadiq in the class of 2023, who has already shown flashes of his talent, and Terrance Ferguson in 2021. Adding Cure — or another quality TE in 2025 — would solidify the Ducks’ tight end for several years.
