We’re continuing to make our way through Position U, a several part piece by Sports Illustrated that attempts to identify the best college football programs at churning out talent at each position group.
Being that Ohio State is a football factory, it has already appeared high on the list for Running Back U, Defensive Line U, O-Line U, and Wide Receiver U. Now we’re on to the last position group that the Buckeyes appear in the top ten, and it’s Linebacker U.
Truth be known, Ohio State would likely be higher up the rankings if this were not just looking at the last ten years. As it is, the Buckeyes still have produced enough talent for SI to rank it No. 10 overall.
So what programs checked in ahead of Ohio State? According to the metrics and subjective point system used by Sports Illustrated, Alabama came in at No. 1. Behind the Crimson Tide in order were LSU, Penn State, Boston College and UCLA (tie), Florida, Washington, Georgia, and Florida State.
Who is the modern Linebacker U? LSU? UCLA? Alabama?@theMMQB crunched a decade’s worth of data to find out which school has the right to brand itself the new Linebacker U https://t.co/W9tm71xYCA
