Andrei Vasilevskiy (21-3-1, 1.83 GAA, .933 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Anton Khudobin (6-9-2, 2.45 GAA, .910 SV%, 3 SO)

Vasilevskiy is on a 12-game win streak, and he was very impressive in the front end of the back-to-back, posting 16 saves in the 2-1 win. He has not lost since Feb. 20 in Carolina, and he has three shutouts along the way, including two against Dallas.

Khudobin is going to be tired of seeing the Lightning and Vasilevskiy. He is 0-3-0 with a 3.04 GAA and .867 SV in three starts against Tampa Bay. He has sparkled at home, posting a 2.17 GAA And .905 SV% with one of his three shutouts in 10 appearances, although he has a 4-5-1 record.

The LIGHTNING (-175) are rather moderate favorites on the road in this Stanley Cup Finals rematch, but the books aren’t stupid. Tampa Bay has won five straight in this series, while winning six in a row in the Metroplex. The road team has cashed in seven of the past eight in this series, too. Tampa Bay is pricey, but no one else is playing better in the crease than Vasilevskiy.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Lightning -1.5 (+165) are a tempting play since they’re so red hot, but they’re coming off a 2-1 win in the front end of the double dip. Three of their past seven victories have been one-goal games, so it’s a good idea to play it safe and just play the money line. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-135) easily connected in Tuesday’s battle with a total of just three goals. The Under is 3-1-1 in the previous five meetings in this series, too. In fact, if you look to the win/total section, playing LIGHTNING TO WIN AND UNDER 4.5 GOALS (+360) is too tempting to pass up, as you can more than triple up.

Andrei Vasilevskiy (20-3-1, 1.86 GAA, .933 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Anton Khudobin (6-8-2, 2.48 GAA, .909 SV%, 3 SO)

Vasilevskiy enters on an 11-game win streak with 3 or fewer goals allowed in each of those games. He has faced the Stars three times during the win streak, blanking them in Dallas March 2 with 28 saves, and he also shut them out Feb. 27 with 20 saves in a 5-0 win. Vasilevskiy also has a 4-3 shootout win in Dallas March 16.

Khudobin is coming off a 4-3 shootout loss at home against the Nashville Predators Sunday. That outing came on the heels of a 3-0 shutout of the Detroit Red Wings Saturday when he turned aside all 21 shots he faced. He was at the opposite end of the ice in those two shutouts by Vasilevskiy Feb. 27 and March 2.

The LIGHTNING (-160) are reasonably priced considering their dominance against the Stars, especially behind Vasilevskiy.

The public is all over the visitors, and it’s often a good idea to be a contrarian and go against the grain when the public is on a team at more than a 2-to-1 clip, but in this instance, Tampa Bay is 5-0 in its past five trips to Big D, and 3-0 in the season series. Against the spread (ATS)

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+170) can help you nearly double up on the puck line. Tampa covered the line in two of the three meetings this season.

The Lightning have covered the puck line in three straight games, and in 16 of their last 19 victories overall. When they win, they often do it by at least 2 goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-140) will cost you a pretty penny here, but that’s the best play when Vasilevskiy is between the pipes.

The Tampa Bay Lightning (14-4-1) and Dallas Stars (6-6-4) will play the second half of a two-game set, which began with a 5-0 Lightning win Saturday. Tuesday’s game will start with an 8:30 p.m. ET puck drop at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Below, we analyze the Lightning-Stars odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning have won four straight games with a three-game series sweep of the Carolina Hurricanes and Saturday’s laugher over the Stars. Tampa Bay got goals from five different players and G Andrei Vasilevskiy turned in a 20-save shutout.

After a strong start to the 2021 season, the defending Western Conference champs have collapsed in the wrong direction and are last in the Central Division. The Stars have dropped three of four games coming into Tuesday after having four home games postponed due to the winter storm in Texas.

Andrei Vasilevskiy (12-3-1, .938 SV%, 1.75 GAA) vs. Anton Khudobin (4-5-1, .915 SV%, 2.72 GAA)

Vasilevskiy is once again a Vezina Trophy frontrunner. He leads the league in wins, save percentage and goals against average. He’s on a two-game shutout streak with a total of 45 saves against the Hurricanes and Stars.

The Stars’ fading record is directly reflected in Khudobin’s game log and season stats, as he continues to handle a heavy workload with Ben Bishop sidelined. He gave up 5 goals on just 16 shots in a little over 41 minutes of action in Saturday’s loss to the Lightning.

The LIGHTNING (-190) should still be backed to complete the two-game sweep of the Stars, but we should expect a much better effort from the hosts Tuesday. Dallas finished Saturday’s game with 52.94% of the total shot attempts and 51.61% of the scoring chances at 5-on-5; however, those results were skewed by Tampa Bay leading from start to finish.

The Lightning have a Corsi rating of 50.47% through 19 games while the Stars are 49.36% through 16 games played. This Stanley Cup Final rematch should be much tighter, but we still need to give the goaltending advantage to the lights-out Vasilevskiy.

Against the spread (ATS)

Place a smaller bet on STARS +1.5 (-185) as a hedge against our ML pick of the Lightning.

Tampa Bay is 12-7 against the puck line for the season and has won by multiple goals in four straight games but Dallas has lost by 2 or more goals just three times in its last 10 games.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the OVER 5.5 (+115) with the Stars having plenty of talent up front to solve Vasilevskiy and snap his scoreless run.

At the other end, Khudobin has allowed 4 or more goals in three of his past five games and shouldn’t be trusted to get on track against a Lightning team that knows him well.
