Black Stripe Alert! Safety Leroy Roker becomes a part of the ‘brotherhood’

Newest member of BIA #GoBucks

Black stripe alert! Safety Leroy Roker has shed his black stripe and become the newest member of BIA.

Roker comes to Ohio State from Fort Myers, Florida as a three-star prospect according to 247Sports. But don’t let the stars fool you. Everything we’re hearing is that Roker is a ball-hawking safety with a nose for big plays. Ohio State general manager Mark Pantoni recently compared Roker to All-American Malik Hooker. That’s pretty high praise coming from a guy who’s witnessed some great players over the years.

As a matter of fact, it’s been rumored that Roker is making such an impact that he is competing for a rotational spot behind Caleb Downs and Lathan Ransom.

Roker becomes the first player to lose his black stripe of the group who enrolled in June. There are now a total of seven who have been officially welcomed to the Brotherhood this fall.

Ohio State football: What to expect from safety commit Leroy Roker

Did the Buckeyes find a diamond in the rough? #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] identified a safety in Florida’s [autotag]Leroy Roker[/autotag], and offered him a scholarship earlier this month. Then hosted him for a visit in the Buckeyes win over Maryland, shortly after Roker pulled the trigger to join the Buckeyes 2024 recruiting class.

The 6-foot, 1-inch, 170-pounder doesn’t have the offer list nor the ranking, No. 115 safety and 1153rd overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, that most of us are accustomed to. However,  if he’s a take from the coaching staff, then that should be enough for us.

After watching his midseason highlights, it’s fairly easy to see why Ohio State went after him. Find out below what I saw when watching Roker’s tape.

Ohio State football offers 2024 Florida safety

Back to to Florida for another Buckeye offer #GoBucks

With the bye week, it gave [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] coaches a chance to evaluate more high schools prospects, and as a result, more than a few offers have been made this week.

The most recent one went out to Florida 2024 athlete,[autotag]Leroy Roker[/autotag], who the Buckeyes are recruiting as a safety. The 6-foot, 1-inch, 170-pounder doesn’t have a very impressive offer list, with his only other Power-Five scholarship coming from Iowa.

Roker most likely has done enough during his senior season for the Ohio State staff to pull the trigger and offer, even though his ranking is low. Currently he is ranked as the No. 121 safety and 1,282nd overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The silver lining with this offer is the notion that the Hawkeyes have offered, as their program is one of the best in the country at finding undervalued defensive prospects and making them into playmakers.
