Notre Dame transfer portal tracker (2022)

An ongoing list of those departing and those entering…

The transfer portal is sweeping college football and changing the landscape of the entire sport like few things have before.  Although Notre Dame hasn’t been hit with a major loss by any means this season, there is still plenty of an impact that can be felt as nine different players have entered the portal since the start of the football season.

We assume it’s only a matter of time before the Irish land a few commitments in it but as of now that is not yet the case.

Here are those nine and the latest on their future destinations:

The five plays that loomed large in Notre Dame’s win over Navy

Which plays stood out to you in today’s win over Navy?

It’s not always the scoring plays that make a game and that was once again the case as Notre Dame went on to defeat Navy, 34-6 in South Bend. Here is a look at which plays made a difference today and beyond for the Irish.

Notre Dame receiver leaves football program

How much will he be missed?

Lawrence Keys II has played his final down at Notre Dame as it was announced Thursday he has left the football program and plans to turn his focus to earning his degree by the end of this semester.

Brian Kelly met the media on Thursday and offered the following when asked about Keys:

“Lawrence Keys is no longer on our roster. Lawrence has chosen to pursue finishing up his degree. I think Lawrence’s is one semester, in my conversation with our academic coordinator, who handles those matters, I think he’s taking 18 hours this semester, which would allow him to get his degree this semester and then he’s going to evaluate what he wants to do after that, whether football is in the cards for him or not.”

-Brian Kelly

Bryan Driskell of Irish Breakdown originally broke the news Wednesday night.

Keys played just a handful of downs in Notre Dame’s season opening win at Florida State and was listed second on the depth chart again this week behind Avery Davis in the slot position.

Keys finishes his Notre Dame career with 18 receptions for 185 yards.  He had a career-best three receptions in the 2019 loss at Georgia.

Notre Dame football – Austin injury news massive blow to Irish passing game

Notre Dame was dealt a huge blow this week as news has come down that they’ll be without wide receiver Kevin Austin for the rest of the year

We found out on Saturday afternoon that wide receiver Kevin Austin was not going to be able to play against Pitt as the Notre Dame Football PR team made the announcement on Twitter.

Along with Austin, starting corner back Tariq Bracy and reserve offensive lineman Josh Lugg were ruled out for Saturday’s fame as well.

As it would turn out, it’s brutal news for Notre Dame in regard to Austin, who was supposed to be the most complete receiver on the roster this season.

Austin missed the first two games of the year with a broken foot that he suffered in fall camp. Unfortunately this week, Austin suffered another injury to the foot and according to The Athletic, will be done for the year.

Austin only had one reception for 18 yards on the season but his potential was a large reason for there be hope that Notre Dame’s passing issues would take off as they’ve struggled to get going over one-third of the way the through the season.

Other wide receivers Ben Skowronek, Lawrence Keys, III and Braden Lenzy have also dealt with injury issues this year that certainly not helped the cause. Perhaps the loss means a chance for the likes of freshmen Jordan Johnson and Xavier Watts to see the field but don’t get it confused, this is a massive hit for a group that was already both battling injuries and struggling to produce.

Notre Dame Football: Injury/COVID-19 Report Pre-Louisville Game

Find out the latest in regards to Notre Dame’s health as they head into their fourth game of the 2020 football season.

Earlier this week we found out that linebacker Paul Moala was lost for the year in the Florida State game when we suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon.

As bad of news as that was in terms of depth, the good news is there are no additional injuries on the roster roughly 50 hours before kick-off against Louisville according to Brian Kelly.

Kelly met the media for the final time before Saturday’s contest and pointed out that Lawrence Keys III, who missed the Florida State game, remains in concussion protocol and won’t be available to play this weekend.

Keys played in the first two games of the season, recording one reception for four yards.

Other than that it’s a clean bill of health for Notre Dame, even in regards to COVID-19.  Kelly went on to state that no players are currently in isolation or in quarantine, a first for Notre Dame since all the way back on September 8.

All things considered it’s a very clean injury report two days ahead of the fourth game of the season for the fourth ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

No. 16 Notre Dame Rolls No. 23 Navy: 5 Instant Thoughts

On an afternoon where Notre Dame dominated in every fasset, nobody was more dominant than Chase Claypool, or Ch4ase Cl4ypool as he’ll be known for this afternoon.

No. 16 Notre Dame moved to 8-2 on the season after destroying No. 23 Navy 52-20 at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday.

Ian Book helped lead the way offensively, throwing five touchdown passes on the afternoon, four of which went to Chase Claypool.  The blowout win was a pleasant site for Notre Dame fans who have grown accustomed to stressing through the Navy game with a “just survive and advance” feel on an annual basis.

With that here are your Five Instant Thoughts:
