LeBron’s Ladder fitness company acquired by OpenFit

The sports nutrition company founded by LeBron James and Arnold Schwarzenegger was acquired by a digital fitness company.

2020 has been a year of deals and accomplishments for LeBron James and while he and his new-look Los Angeles Lakers squad look to defend their NBA Championship, one of LeBron’s off-court businesses cashed in again just before the end of the year.

The sports nutrition company Ladder, which James started with Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as a host of other investors and athlete personalities, has been acquired by the digital fitness company Openfit to be the company’s official nutrition provider. Openfit announced the acquisition on Wednesday and LeBron James celebrated the news on social media on Wednesday morning as well.

“After pushing my body to its limits season after season, I needed a different level of supplements that I could trust to complement my workouts and aid in the recovery process. With Ladder, we achieved that. We were able to work with experts to create an incredible line of certified, high caliber supplements for all athletes, but we always recognized that is just one part of the process,” said LeBron James, champion athlete and Ladder co-founder in a press release about the acqusition. “Now with the reach and resources of the Openfit platform, we’re excited about bringing this all together and creating a new level of training and nutrition that fits everyone’s individual needs.”

LeBron’s Ladder and UNKNWN launching apparel capsule on Friday

Two of LeBron James’ businesses are collaborating for a special collection of gear that will be released in limited quantities.

A lot of LeBron’s business interests have been creating some incredible lines of streetwear over the past few weeks. Over the weekend, Klutch Sports and all their athletes, including LeBron, were showing off their new Chinatown Market x Klutch Sports collaborations, but LeBron’s own Miami-based street-wear brand won’t be left behind in the streetwear x brand collaboration bonanza.

LeBron has teased it on his Instagram, but the sports nutrition company Ladder, which he founded with Arnold Schwarzenegger will be collaborating with LeBron’s Miami-based streetwear brand UNKNWN, which he started with friends Jaron Kanfer and Frankie Walker Jr., for a Ladder x UNKNWN collection that will launch on Friday, May 29 at 11 a.m. EST/ 8 a.m. PST on UNKNWN.com. Earlier this week, Ladder shared what the collection will look like.

Meanwhile, the NBA is starting to get a little bit closer to figuring out a format for their potential return in Walt Disney World.

LeBron’s Ladder company aims for rituals over resolutions

The Los Angeles Lakers star’s nutrition and health company is trying a new mindset for people looking to accomplish New Year’s goals.

LeBron James is always busy, whether or not his team is at the top of the Western Conference standings. Earlier this week, the Liverpool squad that he is a part-owner of announced a new partnership with his long-time legacy brand partner Nike. And one of his other endeavors is using the New Year to try to get people to think differently about their New Year’s Resolutions.

LeBron’s Ladder company, which is a nutrition company that James co-founded last year with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cindy Crawford, Lindsey Vonn, and LeBron’s personal trainer Mike Mancias, launched a “Rituals > Resolutions” campaign for the new year. Mancias is also part of a big promotion that Ladder is doing in February.

Here are more details of “The Challenge,” from Ladder.

The Challenge: To jump start that process of turning temporary resolutions into sustainable rituals, Ladder will be launching The Ladder Challenge on February 1 led by LeBron’s trainer Mike Mancias, who will offer a workout program that establishes new fitness rituals – things that anyone and everyone can do. More than a typical fitness challenge, The Ladder Challenge is about community and accountability, engaging its participants in unique and socially-driven ways with insights from the experts along the way.

  • 30-day challenge has both cardio and strength components
  • Mike Mancias will kick off the exercises and engage with participants weekly, following up with videos, social posts, and blogs
  • Participants can engage with others taking the challenge socially using #LadderChallenge
