While McConkey didn’t have a career year as expected given his ankle injury earlier this season, he was still a human highlight reel anytime he touched the football. McConkey ended up with 30 catches, for 478 yards, and two touchdowns. His best game coming in a thorough decimation of the Florida Gators secondary where McConkey managed 135 yards and a touchdown.

Ladd McConkey announces his NFL draft decision

Star Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey makes NFL draft decision

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey announced his intention to enter the 2024 NFL draft on Monday. McConkey shared the decision on social media days after the Bulldogs’ 63-3 win over Florida State, in which McConkey scored a touchdown.

McConkey’s decision doesn’t come as a surprise. He will draw legitimate interest at the next level. McConkey is ranked as the seventh-best receiver on Pro Football Focus’ big board.

Although he dealt with injuries throughout his final season in Athens, McConkey still made an impact when he played. He finished the year with 478 yards and two touchdowns. He finished his time with the Bulldogs totaling 119 catches for 1,687 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He made countless big plays during his time with the Bulldogs, notably a huge touchdown against Tennessee when the Volunteers came to Athens as the No. 1 team a season ago. He leaves as a two-time national champion.

The Georgia native is leaving the Bulldogs, but the wide receiver room should still be plenty talented with Dillon Bell and Dominic Lovett coming back. The Bulldogs also went to the transfer portal for receiver help with the addition of London Humphreys and Colbie Young.

Best of luck to one of the more electric Georgia receivers we’ve seen in recent years.

It’s all Georgia right now in the Orange Bowl. The Bulldogs lead Florida State, 28-3, with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half.

This will likely be the last game in a Georgia uniform for several Bulldogs, including star wide receiver Ladd McConkey.

Despite the opportunity sit out this game to prepare for the 2024 NFL draft, McConkey decided to play and has already made his presence felt.

McConkey caught what appeared to be a screen pass from quarterback Carson Beck, but then set up to make a double-pass. Florida State’s secondary covered the play well, but McConkey took it upon himself to gain positive yardage and ended up in the end zone.

McConkey has a catch for 22 yards and this rush for 27 yards and a score on the day thus far.

Georgia star WR Ladd McConkey makes Orange Bowl decision

Somehow, Georgia has found a way to get its the majority of its star players to play in the Orange Bowl against Florida State despite opportunities to opt out. On the flip side, the Seminoles will be without more than 20 players, including a slew of opt outs.

The latest Bulldog to commit to playing on Saturday is wide receiver Ladd McConkey. The junior led all UGA wideouts in receiving in 2021 and 2022.

Especially with how many games I’ve missed this year – I missed the first four, came back, and then missed a couple more after that – any chance I can get out there and go play with these guys, I’m going to go out there and do it and leave it all leave it all out there.

Carson Beck, Kendall Milton, Javon Bullard and Kamari Lassiter also share McConkey’s sentiment and will play against the Seminoles.

McConkey missed the Bulldogs’ first four games due to a nagging back injury before working his way back to the playmaker that we’ve witnessed in Athens the last three seasons. Just when McConkey was hitting his stride, he suffered an ankle injury that would limit him for the rest of the season.

McConkey missed another game due to the ankle injury before coming back. He was clearly not himself, especially in the SEC Championship loss to Alabama. The Chatsworth, Georgia, native admitted the season didn’t go as planned, but the opportunity that lies ahead at the Orange Bowl is worth taking the field.

I guess it didn’t go the way we really wanted it to. Obviously, the end goal was go to the playoffs win the national championship. We didn’t get that but we have another opportunity to go out and play. And, me specifically, I know how quickly it can be taken away missing so many games. So anytime I get out here I will take full advantage of it and try to just make the most of it.

McConkey recorded 29 catches for 456 yards and two touchdowns in eight games in 2023. McConkey is yet to make a decision on his NFL future.

Kickoff from Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium is set for 4 p.m. ET, televised on ESPN.

2024 NFL draft: Browns land underrated wide receiver in latest 2024 NFL mock draft

The Browns are still in need of adding a WR in the 2024 NFL draft, landing Georgia’s Ladd McConkey in a new 2024 NFL mock draft.

The college football season is winding down, and 2024 NFL mock drafts are trending in an upward direction. While the Cleveland Browns do not own a first round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, they do still own a plethora of draft picks. In Draft Wire’s latest mock draft, the Browns utilize their top pick, the projected 56th overall pick in the draft, to land an underrated wide receiver in the form of Georgia’s Ladd McConkey.

While he has not officially declared for the 2024 NFL draft yet, McConkey has been a three-year contributor for the Bulldogs. He currently sits with 456 yards and two touchdowns on 29 catches this season.

Missing the first four weeks of the season and one game in November limited McConkey’s production in 2023. Make no mistake, however, the film on the Georgia wideout is phenomenal. Despite his size, McConkey is strong off of the line of scrimmage, plays through contact at a high level, and is a dynamic route runner.

Despite acquiring Elijah Moore via a trade and drafting Cedric Tillman in the third round a year ago, the Browns find themselves in a position to prioritize the wide receiver position once again. Amari Cooper is set to take on a $20 million cap hit, and outside of these three mentioned, there is not a long-term contributor in the room.

McConkey fits both a need and the talent matches where he was selected in this 2024 NFL mock draft.

McConkey has been very productive when able to play. Unfortunately, the junior receiver has missed significant action this season. McConkey missed several games to open the season due to a back issue.

Kirby Smart provided an injury update on Ladd McConkey after the Tennessee game.

Ladd got an ankle (injury) last week and he did not practice all week. He thought he would be able to go, and he was not really able to go. He tried. He got out there in warm ups and did some things. … It happened in the game against Ole Miss.

Georgia wide receiver Dillon Bell really stepped up with McConkey out of the game. The No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 25 games and moved to 8-0 on the season with a 43-20 win over the Florida Gators on Saturday.

We weren’t sure what the Georgia offense would look like without star tight end Brock Bowers on the field. The junior hadn’t missed a game in his career.

Junior wide receiver Ladd McConkey answered the call and put together a career-high performance, totaling 135 yards on six catches with a touchdown.

McConkey was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts. McConkey, who missed the first four games due to a back injury, had only recorded nine catches for 107 yards prior to Saturday’s matchup in Jacksonville.

Replacing a player like Bowers is nearly impossible, but McConkey reminded college football that there are more Bulldogs capable of taking over games in his absence.

Georgia will return home to take on No. 14 Missouri in Week 10 for a battle between the two top teams in SEC East standings. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and the game will air on CBS.
