Warriors vs. Lakers: Live stream, how to watch, TV channel, rookie watch, previous result, start time on Jan. 18

For the first time in the new season, the Golden State Warriors will meet the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. Here is how to watch and stream.

To cap off the NBA’s Martin Luther King Jr. slate, the Golden State Warriors will travel south to Staples Center for a primetime matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.

For the first time in the new 2020-21 season, Steph Curry, Draymond Green and the rest of the new-look Warriors will square off with LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the defending champion Lakers. After missing most of last season due to injury, Monday’s tilt will be the first time Curry has lined up against the James and Davis tandem in Los Angeles.

Riding a two-game losing streak, the Warriors will need to lean on Curry and Green to hang with the red-hot Lakers at Staples Center. Along with a five-game winning streak, Los Angeles is currently sitting on top of the NBA with an 11-3 record.

Before a new edition of the Warriors rivalry with the Lakers begins, here is how to watch or stream the contest and everything else you need to know about the matchup.

Kyle Kuzma extension: LeBron James reacts to 3 year deal worth $40M

The Lakers made LeBron James’ Sunday night after he learned of Kyle Kuzma’s extension.

As it turns out, Kyle Kuzma wasn’t the only one celebrating on Sunday night.

On the eve of the deadline for rookie extensions, Kuzma agreed to sign a three-year pact worth $40 million with the Lakers that will keep him in Los Angeles for at least the next two seasons. Kuzma has long been a fan-favorite in Tinseltown, but based on LeBron James’ reaction, it’s safe to conclude that he’s won the King over, as well.

James took to Twitter to celebrate the news.

Kuzma is likely to enjoy a bigger role with the defending champions this season, which is probably why Rob Pelinka and his staff opted to ink him to the extension that appeared to be the middle ground between “big money” and potentially losing Kuzma to restricted free agency next season.

“KUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Congrats bro!!! Next dinner on you for sure! Vino chronicles @kylekuzma,” James tweeted in celebration of the report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Kuzma joins both James and Anthony Davis as returning members from last season’s club to sign rich deals since the Lakers won the 2020 NBA Championship. James signed a two-year, $85 million extension while Davis re-signed with the club on a five-year deal worth approximately $190 million.

Now, there’s no question that Kuzma will figure into the club’s long-term plans. For at least the next two seasons, he’ll be wearing Lakers purple and gold.

The King, obviously, is pleased.

Warriors Rewind: Antawn Jamison and Kobe Bryant each score 51 points in thrilling overtime battle in 2000

With no hoops until Dec. 22, Warriors Wire is rewinding through Golden State’s history for memorable matchups and standout performances.

With no hoops on the calendar until Dec. 22, Warriors Wire is rewinding the tape through Golden State’s history for memorable matchupsstandout performances and everything else in between

Before registering an appearance in the NBA All-Star game with the Washington Wizards, Antawn Jamison developed into a budding pro with the Golden State Warriors.

During his five-season stint in Golden State, the former No. 4 overall pick out of North Carolina averaged 20.2 points on 45.4% shooting from the field with 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and one steal per game.

With a steady list of impressive performances in the Bay Area on Jamison’s resume, his battle against future NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant might be at the top.

December 6, 2000

Coming off a loss to the Seattle Supersonics where he scored a career-high 51 points, Jamison wasn’t going to let another performance like that go to waste, even if it was against Bryant and the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Picking up where he left off against the Sonics, Jamison notched 19 points in the first half to give Golden State a 62-57 lead at halftime. While Jamison was cooking in the first 24 minutes, Bryant wasn’t far behind him, scoring 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting in the first half.

While Jamison added another 12 points to his total, Bryant exploded for 17 points in the third quarter alone. Bryant’s scorching third quarter pushed the Lakers to a 10 point lead heading into the final quarter.

With 12 minutes remaining, Jamison struck back, recording another 12 points to lead Golden State’s fourth-quarter comeback. With 41 points at the final buzzer, Jamison was able to push Bryant and the Lakers into an overtime period with the score locked at 107.

In overtime, Bryant and Jamison traded heavyweight power punches. However, with the help of Larry Hughes and Bob Sura, Golden State was able to seal the upset victory at the Arena in Oakland, 125-122.

For the second consecutive game, Jamison finished with 51 points on 21-of-29 shooting from the field with 13 boards, five assists, two steals and a block in 53 minutes. Bryant matched Jamison with 51 points on 18-of-35 shooting with eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals in 51 minutes.

Report: Former Warrior DeMarcus Cousins receiving ‘early interest’ in free agent market

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, former Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins is receiving “early attention” in free agency.

[jwplayer eXdzUf0L]

Although the Golden State Warriors have been quiet since the open of the free agency window, former members of the team are garnering interest in the NBA market.

After missing the Los Angeles Lakers 2019-20 season with a torn ACL in his left leg, DeMarcus Cousins could soon ink a new contract. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Cousins is “getting some early attention” on the first night of free agency.

Via @wojespn on Twitter:

Prior to joining LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Lakers last offseason, Cousins spent one campaign with the Golden State Warriors. In the 2018 offseason, the Kentucky Wildcats product joined Golden State on a $5.7 million midlevel exception.

As he returned from tearing his Achilles with the New Orleans Pelicans, Cousins played 30 games with Golden State, averaging 16.3 points on 48.0% shooting from the field with 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals in 25.7 minutes per game.

Although he battled injuries, Cousins showed glimpses of his former All-Star caliber, recording double-double performances in 10 contests for the Warriors. In early April of 2019 against the Denver Nuggets, Cousins recorded a season-high 28 points on 12-for-17 shooting from the field with 13 boards, five assists, two steals and two blocks in 29 minutes for Golden State.

In the following offseason, Cousins tore his ACL at a workout in Las Vegas just one month after signing with the Lakers. Before the start of the NBA’s Orlando Bubble, the Lakers waived Cousins.

For his career, Cousins has earned four nods to the NBA All-Star Team, averaging 21.2 points on 46.1% shooting from the field with 10.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. In 2015 and 2016, the former first-round pick was named to the All-NBA Second Team.

Although the Warriors recently drafted 7-foot-1 prospect James Wiseman with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft, Bob Myers and Steve Kerr could look for a veteran to pair alongside the 19-year-old big man. At only 30-years-old, Cousins could be a name to consider.

Former Warrior JaVale McGee plays 12 minutes in Lakers vs. Nuggets Western Conference Finals Game 2

In 12 minutes against the Nuggets, Javale McGee tallied three points on 1-of-3 shooting with five rebounds in game two of the Western Conference Finals.

In the past five seasons, the Golden State Warriors have been preparing for the NBA Finals during the stretch run of the playoffs. However, with the league’s worst record in 2020, the Warriors have shifted their focus on the NBA Draft.

While Steve Kerr and Bob Myers prepare for draft day, Warriors Wire is checking in with members of the Golden State State Warriors still on the court inside the Orlando Bubble. With the Conference Finals underway, three ex-Warriors are available on postseason rosters.

On Sunday, former Golden State big man JaVale McGee got the starting nod for the Los Angeles Lakers in game two of the Western Conference Finals against the Denver Nuggets.

In a matchup with All-Star center Nikola Jokic, McGee tallied three points on 1-of-3 shooting from the field with five rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes.

Behind a furious second-half comeback from Jokic and Jamal Murray, the Nuggets were able to take a 103-102 lead with 20.8 seconds remaining. After Alex Caruso missed a jumper, the Lakers were able to create another chance to save the game on a Danny Green offensive rebound.

After a quick inbound from Rajon Rondo, Anthony Davis swished a silky smooth 3-pointer as the clock hit zero, winning the game for the Lakers, 105-103. The Kentucky product finished the contest with a game-high 31 points on 11-of-23 shooting from the field. Davis added nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in 39 minutes.

Former Warrior JaVale McGee advances to Western Conference Finals with Lakers

The Golden State Warriors former center JaVale McGee has punched his ticket to the Western Conference FInals with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Although Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are on the outside of the Orlando Bubble, former members of the Golden State Warriors are advancing through the NBA’s playoff bracket.

After Andre Iguodala advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals with the Miami Heat, another ex-Warrior punched their ticket to the next round of the postseason.

On Saturday, former Golden State center JaVale McGee suited up with the Los Angeles Lakers in game five of their Western Conference series against the Houston Rockets.

Coming off the bench in game five, McGee collected three rebounds with a block in three minutes of action. Late in the fourth quarter, McGee attempted his best Splash Brother imitation, launching a 3-pointer. However, the 7-foot center’s beyond the arc attempt clanked off the rim.

Via @TheNBAHustle on Twitter:

Lebron James led the Lakers with 29 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field with 11 boards, seven assists and two steals. Anthony Davis added a double-double of his own with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Behind the pair of double-doubles from their All-Stars, the Lakers were able to close out the Rockets 119-96 to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

During game two, McGee suffered an ankle injury after playing eight minutes. McGee was able to return in game three. However, Frank Vogel opted to match Houston’s small-ball lineup, keeping McGee on the bench. Games four and five against Houston were the first two games the Nevada product didn’t start for Los Angeles.

With the Lakers slated to face either the Denver Nuggets or Los Angeles Clippers next, McGee will likely have a more significant role in the Western Conference Finals. The former Golden State big man will match up with either Ivica Zubac and Montrezl Harrell or All-Star center Nikola Jokic.

The Clippers currently hold a 3-2 advantage over the Nuggets with game six scheduled to tipoff on Sunday at 10 A.M. PT.
