Rutgers football recruiting: Three-star athlete L.J. Booker on why Rutgers football made his cutdown

L.J. Booker breaks down why Rutgers football is doing well in his recruitment.

L.J. Booker is planning an official visit to Rutgers football this summer as the wide receiver has begun to refine the focus on his recruitment.

A three-star recruit, Booker is ranked by Rivals as the No. 12 player in Virginia and the No. 90 wide receiver in the nation in the class of 2024. The 6-foot-2 athlete plays his high school football at Collegiate (Richmond, VA).

He lines up as a wide receiver and as a defensive back.

Last week, Booker released a top three of Duke, Rutgers and Virginia Tech. This comes after a busy month where he has made unofficial visits to Duke, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

“I decided to narrow it down because I realized my recruitment is slowing down in terms of getting offers,” Booker told Rutgers Wire. “And those were the three schools that (I) felt the most comfortable with.”

Booker has already visited Duke and Virginia Tech. Rutgers, who hasn’t gotten a visit yet, has made his top three because of the attention that they’ve been showing in his recruitment.

“Because of the continuous love they show me and my family,” Booker said of the inclusion of Rutgers in his top three.”

“I receive maybe 20 letter per week, multiple checkups from many members of the staff.

“It really feels like they need me instead of want me.”

Duke, Rutgers and Virginia Tech will all get official visits this summer, Booker says. He hopes to announce his commitment at some point before his senior season but he doesn’t yet have a timetable in place.”

“Because of the continuous love they show me and my family,” Booker told Rutgers Wire.

“I receive maybe 20 letters per week, multiple checkups from many members of the staff.

“It really feels like they need me instead of wanting me.”
