Every year, the start of the next NBA Draft cycle is marked by the Nike Hoops Summit. This season’s event carried extra anticipation, as four of the top five projected prospects were in attendance, with the only absence being Darryn Peterson, the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class and a University of Kansas commit. Headlining the event were AJ DybantsaCam and Cayden Boozer (the twin sons of Carlos Boozer), and the still-uncommitted Nate Ament.

Also in attendance were the sons of three other former NBA players: Kiyan Anthony (Carmelo Anthony’s son), Tajh Ariza (Trevor Ariza’s son), and Dorian Hayes (Chuck Hayes’ son), who played for the Portland Generals.

Koa Peat (Team USA) was sidelined with an injury and replaced by Trey McKenney, while Dash Daniels (Team World) was replaced by Shon Abaev.

Other notable participants included Bogoljub Markovic, a 2025 NBA draft prospect who confirmed his draft entry to HoopsHype, and Italian prospect Dame Sarr, who made headlines after arriving at the Hoop Summit against FC Barcelona’s wishes.

HoopsHype was on the ground all week, covering practices and scrimmages leading up to Saturday’s game, where Team USA secured an exciting 124-114 overtime victory over the World Select Team.

Below, we break down the standout performers from both squads.

Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony follows in father’s footsteps by committing to Syracuse

Kiyan Anthony will be follow in his father’s footsteps and head to Syracuse, where Carmelo won a national title in 2003.

Eventual 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony played just one season of college basketball, but it was a memorable one as he led Syracuse to its only national title under longtime coach Jim Boeheim in 2003.

Now, the Orange will hope it can have the same kind of success with another Anthony in town as his son, Kiyan Anthony, announced his commitment to Syracuse. Anthony plays for Long Island Lutheran in Glen Head, New York, ranking as the No. 32 player nationally and No. 1 player in the state of New York.

He also had offers from programs like Arizona State and Florida State, but instead, he’ll follow in his father’s footsteps and join an Orange program that enters the second year under Adrian Autrey, a former Boeheim assistant who was elevated to replace him ahead of last season.

“I’m proud of you. It’s your time — go get it,” the elder Anthony said in a video posted on social media after his son’s commitment.

The Orange also announced that Anthony had officially signed his national letter of intent on Friday.

Syracuse has missed three consecutive NCAA tournaments and will hope that streak ends this season. But if it doesn’t, the Orange can rest easy knowing it has a recruiting class that currently ranks fifth nationally and now includes a big-time legacy player coming to town.

Four-star guard Kiyan Anthony to announce commitment this week

The consensus top 40 recruit in the 2025 class will choose between Auburn, Syracuse, and USC on his father’s podcast Friday morning.

Four-star shooting guard [autotag]Kiyan Anthony[/autotag] will officially announce his commitment on Friday, November 15.

The son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, the consensus top 40 recruit in the 2025 class will announce his decision on his father’s podcast when it releases Friday morning.

While Syracuse is the favorite to land Anthony due to his father’s legacy with the Orange, the No. 1 prospect from New York has continually shown interest in attending Auburn and USC during his recruitment process. Anthony announced the Tigers, Trojans, and Orange were in his final three schools back on Oct. 30.

The 6-5, 185-pound shooting guard visited his father’s alma mater back in October of this year. He has also spent time on USC’s campus but has yet to take an official visit to the Plains. If he were to shock the recruiting landscape and commit to Auburn, [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] would secure a commitment from a top-35-ranked guard for the second straight season. Current Auburn freshman [autotag]Tahaad Pettiford[/autotag], who played his high school basketball just a state over from Anthony in New Jersey, finished his high school career as the No. 32 ranked guard in the 2024 class.

Anthony has yet to begin his senior season at Long Island Lutheran High School, but he should be the focal point of the offense once the regular season tips off. The star prospect most recently averaged nearly 20 points per game this summer during his time playing in the ‘Nike Elite Youth Basketball League’ in July.

Four-star guard Kiyan Anthony lists Auburn among top three schools

The 6-foot-5 guard has yet to take an official visit to the Plains but is looking forward to receiving an offer

2025 four-star shooting guard and consensus top 30 recruit Kiyan Anthony has narrowed his preferred collegiate destination list down to three. The son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony announced his finalists of schools via 247 Sports on Tuesday, naming USC, Auburn, and his dad’s alma mater, Syracuse, as his finalists.

The 6-foot-5 guard has yet to take an official visit to the Plains, which makes it someone surprising Anthony chose to list Auburn with USC and Syracuse, two schools he has visited multiple times during his recruiting journey. Bruce Pearl’s squad has yet to even offer the New York native, but Anthony is looking forward to receiving an official letter. “They haven’t offered me yet. I’m still learning about them… a few of my close friends are over there, Tahaad (Pettiford) and Jahki (Howard) and they tell me about it. I’m looking forward to them throwing the offer so I can go take the visit.” Anthony told On3 Sports.

Although Anthony is leaving and has left his recruitment mostly open throughout the process, many experts believe he’ll end up in up-state New York to carry on the legacy of his father with the Orange. That alone may be why Bruce Pearl and his staff have yet to even extend an offer to the talented guard.

If Auburn does manage to shock the recruiting world and bring Anthony to the Plains, Bruce Pearl would be acquiring a fantastic mid-range scorer with great size and above-average ability to space the floor. The high school senior has averaged over 20 points on the Nike Recruiting Summer Circuit over the past two years, including multiple 30+ point performances this summer.

Anthony’s senior season with Long Island Lutheran is set to begin in the coming weeks. The coveted prospect has not specified when schools should expect his decision to be made. As for Auburn, securing the talents of Anthony would create a massive production boost Bruce Pearl’s team may need after the departure of Johni Broome, and possibly Denver Jones, after this season.

Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan on Bronny James getting drafted: ‘Shows that anybody could do it’

The Lakers’ decision to draft Bronny was so questionable that even Kiyan’s attempt to praise it sounded like a back-handed compliment.

Lakers rookie Bronny James and high school star Kiyan Anthony are two of the most well-known sons of NBA players.

Their fathers, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, were both selected in the 2003 NBA Draft. The hoops legends won Olympic gold medals for the United States in 2008 and 2012 and were teammates in Los Angeles before Carmelo retired from professional basketball.

More than two decades after their fathers played against each other in high school, Bronny and Kiyan faced off for their respective programs in 2022. Kiyan is currently a four-star recruit in the Class of 2025 and the No. 1 rated player in New York, per 247 Sports.

During a recent interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the high school standout was asked about Bronny getting drafted:

“It’s definitely really cool. It just shows that anybody could do it, you know? I’m coming up next and I could do it. Definitely happy for him and definitely congratulated him.”

It is unclear exactly what Kiyan meant with this quote, especially considering Bronny had tremendous resources at his disposal on his path to the pros.

He attended the prestigious Sierra Canyon School in Southern California before playing college basketball at USC. Of course, it helps that his father is a 20-time NBA All-Star and four-time NBA Finals MVP.

Bronny was also drafted despite not having a tremendously successful season in the NCAA. The guard averaged less than 5.0 points per game in college. So with all of that in mind, the selection isn’t exactly the most awe-inspiring rags to riches story.

However, another noteworthy aspect of his journey is that Bronny had to overcome a cardiac arrest before hearing his name called in the 2024 NBA Draft.

All things considered, it is unlikely that Kiyan meant any disrespect with his comments about Bronny. He has previously said that it was “fire” to see that Bronny was drafted. Kiyan added that he texted him and they chatted on the phone and that he hopes to play against him in the NBA.

Kiyan has also said that he and his dad would lose to Bronny and LeBron if they had to play against each other now, so there is some sense of admiration for their games.

But the Lakers’ decision to draft Bronny was so questionable that even Kiyan’s attempt to praise it sounded like a back-handed compliment.

Kiyan Anthony announces top 6 schools, includes Melo’s alma mater

Good news for Syracuse fans.

Kiyan Anthony, son of basketball legend Carmelo Anthony, has announced his top six schools. One familiar program is included in the final choices: Syracuse, where Melo established himself as a blossoming superstar ahead of the NBA.

The other five schools on Anthony’s list are Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers, and USC.

On Thursday, he posted a graphic with the schools to social media platform X. He also spoke about each program in an interview with ZagsBlog earlier this month.

In that interview, Anthony complimented the family environment of Syracuse:

“The coaches, I feel like they’re recruiting me for myself, and not just because of my father. That’s what I like. I just feel like they’re rebuilding, and they’re looking to get a winning team. I feel like I can help them do that if I was to go there.”

He said that Ohio State coach Jake Diebler “has a blueprint and a plan of what guys he wants to come. He’s very strict on who he recruits.” USC head coach Eric Musselman has been texting him after games with compliments and advice, while a major draw of Rutgers is Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey.

Anthony had excellent performances on the circuit in June and July, averaging 28.5 points per game in the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June including a 42-point game, per ESPN, and scored 40 points in a July Peach Invitational Game.

Anthony’s recruitment profile continues to grow. A four-star Long Island Lutheran (Glen Head, N.Y.) guard, he is rated the No. 31 player in the class of 2025 on the 247Sports Composite.

2025 four-Star Kiyan Anthony lists Auburn in top six

With shot creation skills and a mid-range stroke very reminiscent of his father Carmello, Anthony has all the tools to become a great college basketball player.

2025 four-star shooting guard [autotag]Kiyan Anthony[/autotag] narrowed his list of destinations down to six on Friday. Auburn, along with USC, Rutgers, Ohio State, Florida State, and Syracuse made the final cut.

The son of former NBA and USA Basketball great Carmelo Anthony, it would be a slight shock to see the 6-5, 185-pound guard choose anywhere other than Syracuse, but for now, Auburn is in the race.

It is very telling that the Tigers are the only SEC team to make Anthony’s top six. In fact, Auburn and Florida State are the only two schools south of the Mason Dixon Line to break Antony’s final ranking.

The talented guard is a consensus top 50 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He would be an instant difference maker for an Auburn backcourt currently held together by inexperienced, albeit talented, transfer portal players and freshmen. The No. 1 basketball prospect from New York is due to visit the Plains at some point this fall.

With shot creation skills and a mid-range stroke very reminiscent of his fathers, Anthony has all the tools to become a great college basketball player. We’ll see if [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and his staff can convince him to abandon the state of New York when he visits later this year.

Ohio State basketball makes top-6 for former NBA star’s son

The Buckeyes are on the star guards short list. #GoBucks

The recruitment for [autotag]Kiyan Anthony[/autotag], son of former Syracuse and NBA great Carmelo, has been favorable for Ohio State basketball.

The 6-foot, 5-inch, 185-pound player has expressed interest in visiting Columbus to check out the program. Now, the nation’s No. 31 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings has trimmed his list down to six schools.

Along with Ohio State, Anthony still is considering Syracuse, Auburn, Florida State, USC and Rutgers. You have to believe that his father’s alma mater, the Orangemen, is the team to beat due to familiarity with the program. Yes, his father’s head coach Jim Boeheim has retired, but that may not matter.

The younger Anthony could blaze his own path in college, as he would be a great fit in Scarlet and Gray.

Melo’s son Kiyan Anthony drops 42 points at NBPA Top 100 Camp

Four-star guard Kiyan Anthony had a combined 77 points on Sunday and Monday at the NBPA Top 100 camp.

With his senior high school season ahead of him, Kiyan Anthony is making splashes in the summer youth basketball camps. Over the last couple of days, he has electrified the NBPA Top 100 camp with his scoring prowess, scoring a combined 77 points over Sunday and Monday.

First, he dropped 42 points in just 26 minutes of play, going 15-for-28 from the field and making four of the nine 3-pointers he attempted. Anthony also added seven rebounds and six assists, helping his team win 120-109.

On Saturday, Anthony scored 35 points, though not nearly as efficiently, needing 39 shot attempts to do so. He had three rebounds and one assist in the 116-106 loss.

The National Basketball Players Association’s Top 100 Camp provides skill development, mentoring, and training opportunities for some of the nation’s top players.

Anthony, the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, has put on a show. Listed as a four-star guard and the No. 38 overall player on the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-5 player was an important piece of Long Island Lutheran’s 2023-24 team.

He’ll look to take an even larger role in his final season in high school. If this camp is any indication, Anthony is ready to roll.

Carmelo Anthony’s son, Kiyan Anthony eyeing a visit to Ohio State

A big name is planning a visit to Columbus #GoBucks

While football is taking center stage in the recruiting world, Ohio State basketball is still hard at work. Jake Diebler just announced the final hire to his coaching staff with the addition of Taylor Battle, and now the Buckeyes are looking to get a head start on the 2025 class.

On3’s Joe Tipton recently shared that Kiyan Anthony would be taking a visit to OSU in the near future. Anthony is the son of former NBA star Carmelo Anthony. The four-star prospect is a rising senior and hails from Glen Head, New York. He’s rated as a top 50 player and the No. 4 overall shooting guard in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Anthony is also eyeing visits to Auburn and Indiana.

It’s still early, but Ohio State will look to make a good impression on the youngster. Adding the son of a ten-time NBA all-star wouldn’t be a bad look.
