Kevin Harlan’s call of Furman’s game-winning shot against Virginia is an instant classic

Kevin Harlan’s call of the Furman game winner against Virginia is INCREDIBLE.

Leave it to Kevin Harlan to give the perfect call for the game-winning shot of a March Madness upset.

As No. 13 seed Furman stunned No. 4 seed Virginia in the opening round of the South Region in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday, Harlan couldn’t help but toss out an instantly iconic call of Furman sophomore guard JP Pegues’ incredible 3-pointer.

On the crucial sequence, Furman got a last-second steal, and Pegues was in perfect position to knock down the trey that gave the Paladins a 68-67 win over the Cavaliers.

It’s the kind of bracket-busting upset game that instantly anoints a Cinderella, especially if the team can make it out of the round of 32 this weekend.

Harlan’s call will give you goosebumps.

You can hear the pivotal Furman shot called beautifully by Paladins radio, too.

Harlan also underscored the upset victory with the right amount of gravitas with Furman’s win coming on its first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 43 years.

Furman’s upset victory helped bettors hit the +5.5 spread, the 130.5 over and the +200 moneyline.

Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Pegues didn’t at all seem afraid in what was sure to be the biggest basketball moment of his career so far.

As for the Cavaliers, the loss highlights Virginia head coach Tony Bennett’s struggles in the tournament. Even though Bennett led the Cavs to an NCAA championship in 2019, his team hasn’t fared quite as well in other seasons.

His Virginia teams have especially struggled with underdogs as of late.

No matter what, Pegues’ game-winning bucket and Harlan’s incredible call will mark what will certainly be a “One Shining Moment” highlight this year.

The special moment also demolished most of the 2023 bracket predictions.

NBA fans were so amused by Kevin Harlan’s hilarious ‘boink’ call of Dillon Brooks’ groin punch

“HOLD ON, HOLD ON”

Announcer Kevin Harlan has put together quite a career with some incredible sports calls. Known for elevating moments with his levity and wit — while also making some hilarious calls of fans that run on the field — Harlan’s the guy you want in the chair for any major sports moment.

On Thursday, Donovan Mitchell and Dillon Brooks got in quite the scuffle during the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers game. In the third quarter after falling down on a play, Brooks rolled over and punched Mitchell — who was standing nearby — in the groin.

Chaos then broke out on the court, as both teams congregated with some pushing and shoving extracurriculars after Mitchell hurled the ball at Brooks in retaliation. And narrating it all was Harlan, who gave us some incredible moments, from his “HOLD ON, HOLD ON” call as the shoving began to saying “boink” on a replay of Brooks’ groin shot.

Yep, definitely adding these two to the list of Hall of Fame calls from Harlan. NBA fans were incredibly amused by Harlan’s calls of Brooks’ groin shot.

Steph Curry hilariously pointed at Kevin Harlan right after a free throw jinx

Oh no, Harlan jinxed him!

Steph Curry apparently has really good hearing.

Or he just knew that the TNT broadcast of Tuesday’s Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns game was talking about the superstar’s streak of free throws made to start the season — specifically, it was legendary play-by-play man Kevin Harlan — just as Curry was about to take a shot at the line.

As you probably guessed by now, he missed. The streak is over! Ugh! And then he turned to the announcers’ table and pointed. Harlan apologized while Candace Parker and Reggie Miller pointed at him as the culprit.

This whole thing is truly hilarious:

Amazing.

Kevin Harlan hilariously warns Reggie Miller about phrasing with Warriors – Lakers punch metaphor

This was a funny moment.

Even with the regular season starting and the Golden State Warriors getting their rings, of course all we can think about with this team is the fallout from Draymond Green punching Jordan Poole during practice.

Everything seemed fine for the Dubs, as they coasted to an opening-night win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, but Reggie Miller — who was on the mic for TNT with Kevin Harlan — unintentionally used a funny metaphor while talking about the Warriors.

“They’re going for the overhand right to knock out these Lakers,” Miller remarked as the Dubs tried to extend their lead.

Harlan’s reaction was perfect: “Be careful how you characterize that.”

LOL!

Kevin Harlan made an epic call of the protester who ran onto the field during Rams-49ers

“That guy is headed to the slammer, and it will not be a good night!”

Kevin Harlan’s calls of non-sports things happening during games — from fan beer spills to baby races to field invaders on Monday Night Football — are legendary.

And it’s the latter we’re focused on at the moment, because Harlan — like the ManningCast crew — had the call on the field invader who stormed the field during Monday’s Week 4 Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers (and who got DEMOLISHED by Bobby Wagner).

As always, it’s great call, from the tackles made by Wagner and Co. to the pink smoke that was from a specific protestor.

“That guy is headed to the slammer,” he declared, “and it will not be a good night.

Amazing, as always.

I’m convinced that Luka Doncic is the Undertaker meme.
Luka is 21-5 after a loss this season and a ridiculous 20-6-0 against the spread, by far the best among NBA stars.

The Timberwolves veteran — who played …

The Timberwolves veteran — who played for the Los Angeles Clippers for four seasons before heading to Minnesota — insisted to JJ Redick on ESPN that the Lakers’ 2020 title deserves an asterisk and that it’s a “Bubble Championship.” Here’s Beverley making his case. Kevin Harlan will sit in a chair courtside Wednesday night that, he feels, does not belong to him. It’s the same way he felt at the All-Star Game in February.  “I may be broadcasting this game tonight,” Harlan texted Marv Albert that night. “But this will always be your seat. This will always be your chair.”  Harlan is Turner Sports’ replacement for Albert as the play-by-play voice of the conference finals. He’ll be joined by Hall of Fame player Reggie Miller and ex-coach Stan Van Gundy as the Dallas Mavericks face the Golden State Warriors in the opening game of the Western Conference finals.

Even though Harlan has a strong …

Even though Harlan has a strong partnership and rapport with Miller, he’s excited by the addition of Van Gundy. Working with a coach is important in big games, Harlan said, because they add another layer of context and perspective that is “so vital.”   “And (Van Gundy) does it. He is so knowledgeable and is so well-prepared, I am in awe of his preparation for these games,” Harlan said. “I find him incredibly compelling. His addition will be just absolutely perfect for a game, and games, of this stature.”
