Bills’ Josh Allen jokes about why he’d be nervous to golf with Keon Coleman (video)

#Bills’ Josh Allen jokes about why he’d be nervous to golf with Keon Coleman (video):

The Buffalo Bills often bond over golf.

Josh Allen is worried about hitting the links with Keon Coleman.

The rookie wide receiver previously joked that his quarterback is too good to play golf with. Even so, Allen did tell CBS Sports he’s going to try and make it happen eventually… but he’s got one concern.

Coleman evidently is not a shirt guy… a requirement for every course.

Bills’ Dalton Kincaid looks to take on larger role in 2024

#Bills’ Dalton Kincaid looks to take on larger role in 2024:

Second-year tight end Dalton Kincaid will undoubtedly be a focal point for the Buffalo Bills offense this season.

The 2023 first-round pick had a stellar rookie season, setting a single-season franchise record for tight ends with 73 receptions. His 673 receiving yards was the second-best single-season total in Bills history for the position.

Now, Kincaid hopes to put together an encore that exceeds his first year in Buffalo. He shared how he can meet the increased expectations set upon him.

“You know, knowing where I need to be and knowing the playbook a lot more. I can look at the defense and see what they’re doing and understand their leverage,” Kincaid said via video conference.

Kincaid also embraces his role as a leader on the offense.

“I’m trying to be more of a leader going into the second year because we’ve got a lot of new guys on the team. I think it’s translated well — we did a lot together during OTAs and we just got a really good group of guys,” he added.

While Kincaid has the inside track at being quarterback Josh Allen’s No. 1 target this fall, he isn’t taking on any sort of selfish mentality concerning targets. The tight end is excited for the new group of weapons that the Bills have on offense.

“I’m just out there to do my job and catch the ball when it’s thrown my way. You know our saying is ‘Everybody Eats’ on this offense, and everybody is going to eat so if it’s a game I catch 10 passes — awesome. If it’s a game I catch zero passes, it’s awesome as long as we’re winning,” Kincaid said.

Kincaid will welcome new wide outs Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel to Buffalo’s receiving corps. Slot receiver Khalil Shakir begin the season as a full-time starter for the first time in his career.

With the lack of a true No.1 receiver, it’s expected that Allen will spread the ball out to all options. In the end, it could mean even greater production for Kincaid.

WATCH: Bills QB Josh Allen reunites with fan from Children’s Hospital

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen took a moment to greet a special fan during the team’s training camp this past week at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.

After the day’s practice, Buffalo’s QB1 was greeting, high-fiving, and giving autographs to a number of fans waiting for a chance to meet him.

And one in particular stood out.

It was a fan who Allen inspired several years ago at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.

He shared the past connection along with a message Allen had shared first with him back when he was a patient, “Stay strong and never give up.”

WROC-TV shared the video of the moment Allen reconnected with the fan via social media, found here:

The hospital has become a part of the history and relationship between Allen and the Bills fans, 27,000 of whom notably came together to donate a total of $1.1 million to the hospital following the 2020 passing of his grandmother, Patricia Allen.

The result was the naming of the ‘Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing’ on the 10th floor of the medical facility.

The hospital would then go on to work with the quarterback and Allen family to launch the Patricia Allen Fund to benefit the critical care team while providing continued support for equipment, training, education, and programs.

Their team provides life-saving care to the most acute patients in the hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit, emergency department, and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.

Allen’s visited patients there and continued his support in a variety of ways not limited to but including donating all proceeds from the sale of his limited edition cereal collaboration with Pittsburgh-based company PLB Sports & Entertainment, “Josh’s Jaqs”, to the Children’s Hospital each of the four years it’s been on shelves.

WATCH: Another beauty from Keon Coleman at Bills camp

Keon is pretty good at this football thing:

Keon Coleman either has a flare for the dramatics or just makes the difficult catches look routine.

During his first training camp with the Buffalo Bills at St. John Fisher University, Coleman has made multiple impressed catches. It’s exactly what both the team and fans alike wanted to see from their top-overall rookie draft pick.

During a recent grab, Coleman was covered pretty well by defensive back Christian Benford. In slow motion it looks like he has him beat, but Benford isn’t in the worst position on the play in real time.

Even so, quarterback Josh Allen zipped a deep pass down the field to Coleman which required the wideout to lunge out for the catch–And he made it.

33rd team: Greg Rousseau is Bills’ ‘breakout candidate’ in 2024

33rd team: Greg Rousseau is #Bills’ ‘breakout candidate’ in 2024:

The Buffalo Bills could benefit should a recent prediction from an NFL analyst come to pass.

The 33rd Team’s Marcus Mosher named his “breakout candidate” for the Bills in 2024, and it was none other than DE Greg Rousseau.

Mosher compiled a list of NFL Defensive Players Who Could Have Breakout 2024 Seasons and views Rousseau as a player with that potential.

It would be a logical progression for the 24-year-old.

The early returns during his rookie deal have been good, as the edge rusher quickly became a regular part of the Bills defensive pass rush group and developed into a consistent starter and threat to opposing quarterbacks.

While his abilities make him a strong breakout candidate already, some additional factors could help boost chances of his taking the next step at the pro level this season.

The Bills picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal this Spring, likely setting the stage for an extension. So Rousseau will be motivated to demonstrate his worthiness of higher earnings on his next deal.

While he is already a towering force on his own, fellow defensive end A.J. Epenesa and defensive tackle Ed Oliver both took the next step themselves, becoming key disrupters to opposing offenses.

The 2024 NFL Draft saw the addition of another disruptor in defensive tackle DeWayne Carter, a potential if not likely day-one starter on the defensive line, alongside them.

Those players, plus a healthy Von Miller, could mean trouble for opponents.

For more on Rousseau, here is Mosher’s breakdown below:

“Rousseau was a much better player in 2023 as he created more pressures (68) and improved significantly as a run defender,” Mosher writes. “During the 2022 season, Rousseau was just an average run defender who teams would run toward when possible. But in 2023, he became an above-average run player, finishing the season with 19 stops. His improvement as a run defender has been a steady one despite it being a weakness coming out of college. Now, he is an every-down player who can thrive in any situation.

“. . . Another encouraging stat is his overall pass-rush win rate (16.0 percent), which is ahead of other star rushers including Maxx Crosby (15.5 percent), Danielle Hunter (15.7 percent), and not far off from T.J. Watt (16.9 percent). If that number continues to rise, we should see Rousseau post a double-digit sack season sooner rather than later . . . The Bills need Rousseau to be a star on the edge and be a consistent pass rusher in big games. And given his trajectory, it’s not hard to believe that it will happen given his rapid improvement.”

ESPN ranks the Buffalo Bills highly for ‘long-term success’

ESPN ranks the #Bills highly for ‘long-term success’

The Bills are set up well for the long term.

This is according to an ESPN 2024 NFL Future Power Rankings: Projections for all 32 teams list of teams the sports media outlet deems built for the future.

Power rankings this time of the year in the NFL can be speculative, being that it’s the offseason, and those projections are often educated guesses towards the coming year’s campaign.

In the case of ESPN’s rankings, they’re looking farther out ahead to the future in terms of what team’s project to have sustainable success over an extended period of time, and the Bills are among those at the top of the list.

For this list, ESPN’s focus is long-term projection over the next three seasons (2024 through 2026) and the analysis is provided by Dan Graziano, Louis Riddick, and Aaron Schatz. The trio was asked to rate each team’s quarterback situation, the rest of each club’s non-QB roster makeup, as well as each franchise’s front office and coaching staff, using the following scale:

  • 100: A+ (elite)
  • 90: A (great)
  • 80: B (very good)
  • 70: C (average)
  • 60: D (very bad)
  • 50 and below: F (disastrous)

Once the results have been averaged, each of the four categories are weighted creating each team’s respective overall score: quarterback (20%), roster (30%), front office (25%) and coaching (25%).

The final outcome projects how well each team is positioned for the future, along with the three analysts reasons for optimism, reasons to worry, and crucial stats/nuggets to know for each club.

Here’s what ESPN had to say about the Bills, who they have ranked at third overall on the list behind only the Chiefs (1), and Ravens (2):

3. Buffalo Bills
Overall score: 89.5

Keon Coleman says he’s having fun at his first Bills training camp

Keon Coleman says he’s having fun at his first #Bills training camp:

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott was almost brutally honest when describing his wide receiver room at the start of training camp.

“We don’t really know what we have,” McDermott said via video conference. “It’s interesting to see that they’re a very diverse group. I know a lot of people talk about we don’t have a true number one and this and that. I think these guys will rise to the occasion. I really do.”

But a few days into figuring out what’s there, the one guy the Bills want to stand out is: Keon Coleman.

The team’s top rookie draft pick is playing well. He’s making big plays and it looks like a connection with quarterback Josh Allen is forming.

What is potentially Coleman’s early secret to success? Having a good time.

“It was fun, enjoyed it,” Coleman said following his first practice. “It was a nice little day.”

Impressive WR set to be only rookie starter for the Bills

The Bills have some interesting rookies who should play some this season but we can’t wait to watch Keon Coleman catching passes from Josh Allen.

When you have a quarterback like Josh Allen, your top priority has to be getting him players who can maximize his tremendous potential. This is exactly what the Buffalo Bills did when they picked former Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft.

In going over the Bills picks from 2024 as well as their current roster during training camp, Coleman projects to be the team’s only rookie starter. However, we have our eye on two other Bills rookies who could see significant rookie reps on defense.

Safety Cole Bishop is a great all-around player who is backing up Taylor Rapp right now but his athleticism should give him a foot in the door as the team’s third safety and interior coverage safety.

Defensive lineman DeWayne Carter is another guy who is pro-ready enough to be a rotational defensive lineman with Ed Oliver and Daquan Jones.

Finally, we have to mention former Penn State cornerback Daequan Hardy. Hardy is no threat to take over the nickel cornerback but he definitely has a foothold on being the team’s primary punt returner.

Keon Coleman makes incredible touchdown catch at Bills training camp (video)

That was nice:

Buffalo Bills rookie Keon Coleman looked right at home during his first training camp practice.

On Wednesday, the second-round pick hit the field with his teammates for their opening day of camp. Coleman reportedly had a great overall day at the office. One moment stood out above the rest.

Facing cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram during a red-zone drill, Coleman did not look open… at all. He still made the play.

Coleman extended his body while Ingram had some pretty good coverage but sometimes a defender just has to give it up to a playmaker when he makes such an effort.

Coleman’s catch can be found in the clip below:

CBS Sports: Bills WR group among NFL’s ‘top training camp battles’

CBS Sports: #Bills WR group among NFL’s ‘top training camp battles’

The Bills roster has seen a lot of changes this offseason, resulting in a lot of new faces who will be taking the field for Buffalo’s training camp this week.

There are some position groups of interest due to turnover on both sides of the call for the club, but one, in particular, stands out as a bit more magnified in terms of visibility that coaches, fans, and the press will be watching closely.

CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin provided his take on where he sees the most intriguing competitions among position groups on each of the teams in the National Football League.

He even cited the Bills specifically, entitling his article as the Top 2024 NFL training camp battles to watch: Steelers QBs, Bills WRs, Eagles CBs have strong competitions.

In it, Benjamin zeroed in on the Bills receivers group as one of those intriguing training camp competitions, and with good reason.

The Bills’ two primary receivers in recent years, Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, both left the team earlier this year by way of trade and free agency, respectively.

Diggs led the team in receiving yards last season with 1,183 yards and 160 targets, and Davis followed with 746 yards and 81 targets. Both players saw their roles gradually reduced over the course of the second half of the season, as new OC Joe Brady and QB Josh Allen gradually went to targets like WR Khalil Shakir and TE Dalton Kincaid.

Their targets and productivity will now be created by big targets in the passing game such as TE’s Dawson Knox and Kincaid, as well as a refreshed receiver room.

Returning pass catchers like third-year man Khalil Shakir, Andy Isabella, Justin Shorter, and Tyrell Shavers are now joined by 2024 NFL Draft pick Keon Coleman as well as veterans like journeymen Mack Hollins, former Chief Marquez Valdes-Scantling, as well as Chase Claypool, and K.J. Hamler.

The result is what could perhaps be the most depth the team has had at receiver and the most competitive camp competition at the position that Buffalo has had under head coach Sean McDermott.

Here’s what Benjamin had to say…

Bills WRs

The competition: Curtis Samuel vs. Marquez Valdes-Scantling vs. Keon Coleman vs. Khalil Shakir

No longer deploying a bona fide No. 1 after Stefon Diggs‘ exit, the Bills are instead set to lean on a plethora of chess pieces. Samuel and Shakir are prime candidates to man the slot, with Valdes-Scantling serving as the outside deep threat and Coleman using his jump-ball skills in the red area.
