National reactions: Bills embarrassed the Jets & Zach Wilson

Not the best day to be Zach Wilson:

The Buffalo Bills haven’t had the most positive headlines as of late.

After two losses and the firing of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey last week, almost no one nationally had much positive to say about the Bills.

Now at a 6-5 record and right back in the thick of the AFC playoff race, the script has flipped.

Not only that, the negative narratives have now been sent over to Week 11’s opponent: The New York Jets.

After finally benching quarterback Zach Wilson while being beat up by Buffalo in the 32-6 final, there were a lot of bad headlines to be found for Gang Green.

With that, here’s a national meda roundup following the Bills’ win over the Jets:

5 takeaways from the Bills’ 32-6 win over the Jets

5 takeaways from the #Bills’ 32-6 win over the #Jets:

The Buffalo Bills topped the New York Jets in their Week 11 matchup at Highmark Stadium.

The Bills came out of the gate flying… unlike the Jets. New York might as well have stayed home for this one.

The Jets ended up being pressed into benching quarterback Zach Wilson for the first time as Buffalo’s defense relentlessly got after him.

All that went down while the Bills offense up put big points once again. It was a slow start with a few field goals as the Jets’ stout defense held strong… but in the end there was just too much too handle.

Here are five takeaways from the Bills’ 32-6 win over the Jets:

3 keys to a Bills victory vs. the Jets in Week 11

3 keys to a #Bills victory vs. the #Jets in Week 11:

The Buffalo Bills will hope to add another win to their record in 2023 in Week 11. The team will host the New York Jets at Highmark Stadium.

As usual, it will never be a walk in the park in the NFL. If the Bills (5-5) expect to beat the Jets (4-5), there will be few key things Buffalo will have to focus on against New York.

It will have to be a full-team effort, make no mistake. But these factors could weigh heavy on whether or not Buffalo sends New York home with a win or loss.

Here are three keys to the Bills pulling out a victory against the Jets:

3 causes for concern as the Bills face the Jets in Week 11

3 causes for concern as the #Bills face the #Jets in Week 11:

The Buffalo Bills are looking to get back in the win column as they host the New York Jets in a  Sunday afternoon matchup in Week 11.

Buffalo (5-5) are entering the latter of their 2023 season and each and every game will be important. However, New York (4-5) will pose plenty of problems.

Every NFL team has a strong roster. As they say, the players on the other sideline are getting paid too. But in terms of facing the Jets this week, there are a few particular things that could be a problem for Buffalo.

Here are three causes for concern as the Bills face the Jets:

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky says Josh Allen’s mechanics are not the problem (video)

Leave Josh alone says Dan Orlovsky:

ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky has made some waves in western New York this week.

After the Bills (5-5) decided to fire offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, Orlovsky pointed out what he saw wrong with the unit. The analyst for the former world-wide leader thinks Buffalo became too “predictable” on that side of the ball.

In addition, he followed that up by defending quarterback Josh Allen. Orlovsky does not think there is anything wrong with the way the Bills QB is throwing the ball right now.

“I see things on the internet that say Josh Allen’s mechanics have fallen off. I disagree with that, respectfully,” Orlovsky said. “I don’t see that.”

Orlovsky’s full breakdown can be found in the Pat McAfee Show clip below:

Former Bills OL Quinton Spain: ‘Wrong person’ fired in Buffalo

Former #Bills OL Quinton Spain: ‘Wrong person’ fired in Buffalo:

Quinton Spain didn’t say a name but there is one that’s suggested: Sean McDermott.

Upon learning the news that his ex team, the Buffalo Bills, fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, the former offensive lineman for the team voiced his opinion.

Taking to social media, Spain replied to the report of Dorsey’s firing by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter by saying the Bills fired the “wrong person.”

Spain’s post can be found below:

Spain had his ups and downs with the Bills but in 2020 he was released in the middle of October. That was only six games into a three-year contract extension he signed with the team. He originally signed in Buffalo ahead of the 2019 season.

The offensive lineman posted some cryptic messages after his release, even saying “only if they knew the real reason.”

From there, Spain went on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals. In February 2022 ahead of last year’s Super Bowl during his media availability prior to the game, Spain said he and McDermott “did not see eye-to-eye” which led to his release and added the coach was trying to “mess up his career.”

All things considered, many think Spain meant McDermott.

HOF QB Kurt Warner on Ken Dorsey firing: ‘I’m not sure it changes a whole lot’

The Hall of Famer needs some selling on the idea:

Kurt Warner doesn’t think the Buffalo Bills should get too excited about what’s to come after the firing of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

The Hall of Fame quarterback joined The 33rd Team and discussed Dorsey’s dismissal. In his eyes, based on his experiences in the NFL, he’s not convinced it’s going to make much of a difference.

“I’m not sure it changes a whole lot,” Warner said. “You have to look at the big picture.”

Instead, Warner is seeing what some others are pointing to: Players on the Bills offense have to clean things up.

“You watch them play and there’s opportunities out there and there’s some bad football out there,” Warner said.

Warner’s full breakdown can be found in the The 33rd Team clip below:

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky: Bills offense is ‘wildly predictable’

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky: #Bills offense is ‘wildly predictable’

The Buffalo Bills were having some problems on offense and Ken Dorsey was let go because of that.

The Bills (5-5) fell to the Denver Broncos in Week 10. Despite the 12 men on the field penalty at the end of the game not being Dorsey’s fault, the tean still decided to fire him.

While ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky declined to say anyone should be fired in football, he did hint at it. Orlovsky called Buffalo’s offense “wildly predictable” and that’s the reason why there are issues.

Orlovsky gave his analysis on the Bills offense on the Pat McAfee Show and the clip can be found below:

Bills’ Josh Allen on Ken Dorsey firing: ‘I take that very personally’

#Bills’ Josh Allen on Ken Dorsey: ‘I take that very personally’

Josh Allen gets it, but that doesn’t mean he’s proud of what happened.

The Bills (5-5) fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey following the team’s 24-22 loss to the Broncos on Monday. Now it’s interim OC and former quarterbacks coach Joe Brady helping the offense prep for their upcoming matchup against the Jets (4-5).

With the change having settled in, Allen said he does know some responsibility sits with him.

“We play better as a team, we don’t have to make a move like that,” Allen said. “I take that very personally.”

It’s a tough scenario for a guy like Allen and he’s probably not alone. Dorsey was liked in the Bills locker room, but it’s a business and these things happen.

The Bills have little time to sit and mope about it. The Jets won’t be doing that.

With preparations for that upcoming game already underway, head coach Sean McDermott said he sees his team reacting in the right way to the move.

“They’ve taken it in stride,” McDermott said via video conference. “Sad at what had to be, what had become of it, what became of it, but looking forward to a new beginning and looking forward to gain more production on a consistent basis.”
