Pauly Shore had a classy response to Jimmy Kimmel’s Encino Man jokes at the Oscars

Pauly Shore didn’t let a few jokes keep him from giving love to his Oscar-winning Encino Man co-stars.

Comedian Pauly Shore took some Oscars jokes from Jimmy Kimmel in stride while congratulating his Encino Man co-stars Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan on their Academy Awards wins.

Shore acted alongside Fraser and Quan in the ’90s comedy and has gotten to watch his old screen partners ascend to Oscar gold for their roles in The Whale and Everything Everywhere All at Once, respectively.

Kimmel used the Encino Man connection to crack a few jokes at Shore’s expense, but “The Weasel” didn’t seem to mind. He just wanted to congratulate his “old buddies from back in the day” on their big night.

It’s a classy move from Shore to brush off Kimmel’s jokes and still be willing to hype up his old co-stars. Nobody probably pegged two of the Encino Man co-stars to win Academy Awards in the same year, but it definitely happened.

Will Shore earn an Oscar one day? Well, anything is possible!

Everyone loved ‘Encino Man’ stars Ke Huy Quan, Brendan Fraser winning Oscars

Movie fans were so happy to see the Encino Man co-stars win Oscars on the same night.

If you had gone back in time and told me that not one, but TWO actors from Encino Man — the 1992 comedy that included Pauly Shore — would be Oscars winners, I might have been shocked.

But here we are. The 2023 Oscars are over, and both Ke Huy Quan — for Everything Everywhere All At Once — and Brendan Fraser (for The Whale) took home acting Academy Awards.

And everyone — including Sean Astin, who starred in Encino Man — had to tweet about those two winning on Sunday night. As you’ll also see below, this fun fact was pointed out before the Academy Awards were handed out:

Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan share wholesome Indiana Jones reunion on stage at the Oscars

We’re not crying, you’re crying.

When Harrison Ford took the stage to present the final award of the evening — Best Picture — at the Oscars, it set up the possibility for a wonderfully heartwarming reunion. Ford, who played hunky archaeologist Indiana Jones in the popular movie series, acted alongside Everything Everywhere All At Once Best Supporting Actor Ke Huy Quan in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Quan was just 13 years old at the time, playing Jones’ spunky sidekick Short Round in the film.

Fast forward nearly 40 years and the two were able to reconnect in the most wholesome way. Quan detailed a story of running into Ford at Disney’s D23 event in October of 2022, and it was the cutest thing. Now they’ve added a new chapter as the duo embraced on stage after Ford announced Everything Everywhere All At Once as the year’s Best Picture.

What an incredible journey for these two actors.

MORE OSCARS:

Ke Huy Quan gave the most beautiful speech after winning Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars

Ke Huy Quan gave a beautiful speech after winning the Oscar.

Ke Huy Quan gave what might be one day looked at as one of the best Academy Awards speeches of all time.

After he won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once, a visibly emotional Quan went to the stage and delivered a heartfelt ode to his family, his story and those with whom he worked on the film.

It’s just beautiful to see Quan so joyful in what is surely the defining moment of his decades-long Hollywood career that started with Indiana Jones and The Goonies.

Now, he’s an Academy Award winner.

Okay, we’re crying on the couch over here. That was beautiful, especially his shoutout to his mom and his wife. Quan has been a class act this entire awards season, and his Oscar win will certainly be something he’ll cherish for the rest of his life. His speech will live eternal as well.

Predicting the 95th Academy Awards, which looks good for Everything Everywhere All at Once

Which films will take home Oscars this weekend? We have our guesses.

With the 95th Academy Awards just around the corner, it’s time we roll up our sleeves and make some predictions.

While it’s impossible to really know what will win (outside of a few locked-in categories), we here at For The Win have a hunch as to what will take home the Oscar gold on Sunday.

Predicting the Oscars is kind of like predicting the Super Bowl. You can size up stats, watch film (literally) and make your best-educated guess, but it’s anyone’s game.

The Academy Awards have long defied perfection on the prediction board; you’re always more lucky to get things right than expectant to.

We’ve gone through all the non-short film categories and rounded up who we think will win. If we’re right, we’re smart and knew all along. If we’re not, blame the Academy not us!

Ke Huy Quan gave the most inspiring acceptance speech at the SAG Awards

Ke Huy Quan looks like he’s on his way to an Oscar win for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star Ke Huy Quan made history on Sunday night.

Quan became the first Asian actor to win Best Supporting Actor at the Screen Actors Guild and will very likely become the second Asian actor to win in the same category at March’s Oscar ceremony.

The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom standout has enjoyed a career resurgence with his deeply moving turn in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Barring a seismic upset, Sunday night’s SAG win will position Quan for an Academy Award.

His speech accepting his SAG Award was incredibly tender and might get you misty.

If that doesn’t move you, we’re not sure what will. Quan’s awards moment has been one of the more special for an actor in quite some time, and an Oscar win would be the absolute best way to cap it.

If you want to see more of Quan, he’ll be appearing in the Disney+ shows Loki and American Born Chinese later this year.
