Karter Knox re-opens his recruitment after John Calipari news

Karter Knox has re-opened his recruitment after John Calipari leaves.

A week ago, the Kentucky Wildcats and coach John Calipari had the number two recruiting class in the country. Forward Karter Knox was the last signee, and they were prepared to reload for the presumed exodus of many of last year’s players.

Fast forward to Monday, and Calipari is headed to Arkansas, and Karter Knox has re-opened his recruitment, and is likely headed elsewhere.

Knox is a top 20 player in the 2024 class, and was set to follow his brother Kevin Knox to Kentucky. Kevin spent on year with Cal in Lexington before going pro.

A 6’6″ wing player, Knox shoots the ball well from all levels, and is a solid rebounder as well. He had offers from multiple schools, but Kentucky and Louisville were both among his final choices.

Knox could choose to stay with Coach Cal and head to Arkansas, or he could wait and see who winds up at Kentucky before deciding.

It’s certain that the Wildcats will see big changes along with the coaching change. Fans should prepare for more of the 2024 recruits to weigh their options.

Kentucky recruit Karter Knox and his McDonald’s All-American game experience

Kentucky recruit Karter Knox talks about his experience at the McDonald’s All-American game

The Kentucky Wildcats had three players that participated in the McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday night. In a three-part series, we’ll look at all of their experiences at the game, starting with forward Karter Knox.

Knox was Kentucky’s latest addition to their 2024 class, and follows in the footsteps of older brother Kevin Knox, who starred for the Cats in the 2017-18 season. The younger Knox is a top 20 player in his class, and the sixth ranked small forward.

At the McDonald’s All-American game, Karter played on the West squad. He shot four-of-six from the field and scored nine points.

Knox had a positive week at the game and practices. He had this to say about the experience:

It’s a blessing being selected out of everybody in the world, 24 players, the best of the best and being able to compete against some of the best people in the world. It’s really a blessing.

He also had some thoughts on his future at Kentucky and beyond:

Last year they didn’t do too good in the first round but next year will be a whole different year. We’re going to get past the first round and hopefully win a National Championship but at the end of the day I want to be a pro so I am going to go there, work my butt off and get drafted.

The 2024-25 roster is still a work in progress, with several guys having not made a decision yet on where they’ll play next year. However, Knox’s skills should have him getting plenty of playing time next year regardless.

Three Kentucky recruits to be showcased at McDonald’s All-American game

Kentucky has three future players in the McDonald’s All-American game Tuesday night

The McDonald’s All-American game takes place on Tuesday night, featuring some of the best high school players in the country. The Kentucky Wildcats and John Calipari usually have a few players in the game, and this one will be no different.

On3’s Jamie Shaw was able to watch the players go through practices, and relayed some of what he saw.

Five-star recruit Jayden Quaintance is the first of three future Wildcats featured. The Cats top recruit has excelled in the practices, showing a knack for getting to rebounds, something Kentucky needed this past season.

Karter Knox, Kentucky’s most recent signee, has been good in the practices. He’s solid on both ends of the floor, and shoots the ball well. His ability to rebound will make coaches happy.

Guard Boogie Fland is the third future Wildcat in the game. His leadership has been praised, and he has an ability to get hot shooting the ball.

The McDonald’s All-American game will be played Tuesday night at 9:00 PM ET, and can be viewed on ESPN. Kentucky fans can get a look at some of the players they’ll see next season.

Top recruit Karter Knox commits to Kentucky

Top 20 2024 recruit Karter Knox commits to Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats and John Calipari have put together a very good 2024 recruiting class. Going into Saturday, they had the number two class in the nation. It got just a little bit better on Saturday with the addition of Karter Knox.

Knox has been on Kentucky’s radar for some time, but was mulling over several options. In the end, he chose the Wildcats, though.

The name may be familiar to Kentucky fans. His older brother, Kevin Knox, was a star for the Wildcats in the 2017-18 season. He averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds per game en route to being named SEC Freshman of the Year and first team All-SEC.

Karter is a four star forward who is ranked inside the top 20 by most services. He’s a good shooter who can rebound as well.

Knox may not push Kentucky past Duke for the number one recruiting class, but he certainly strengthens it. He joins Jayden Quaintance as top 20 players to join the Wildcats for 2024.

Kentucky Target Karter Knox to decide soon where he will play next year

Karter Knox is expected to decide if he’ll play at Kentucky soon

The 2024 Kentucky Wildcats recruiting class is nearly set, and it’s a good one, ranked second overall behind the Duke Blue Devils. However, it could get even better soon.

Karter Knox is the number 19 overall recruit in the 2024 class, and hasn’t decided where he will play next year yet. His decision is down to four locations, with Kentucky being one of them. He visited the Cats in January and was predicted to pick them recently.

If the name seems familiar to UK fans, it’s because his brother, Kevin Knox, starred for Kentucky in the 2017-18 season. He played for coach John Calipari for just one season before heading to the NBA.

The younger Knox is expected to announce his decision within the next two weeks, per 247sports. He’s down to four teams, including the Wildcats. Louisville, South Florida, and a return to Overtime Elite are his other options.

Knox has varying ties to all four programs, so it’s tough to say which way he’s currently leaning. Kentucky fans anxiously await word, and it looks like they won’t have to wait much longer.

Could Karter Knox be the next G League phenom? 5-star announces his top 4

Karter Knox, a 5-star small forward and brother of NBA player Kevin Knox, made a recruiting announcement regarding his top four schools.

Karter Knox, a five-star small forward ranked No. 11 on the 247Sports Composite and the brother of NBA player Kevin Knox Jr., has announced his top four schools.

The question boils down to this: Will he go the route of the Bluegrass State, with both the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville among his final schools? Will he choose to return to the Sunshine State for the University of South Florida, where his brother Kobe Knox currently plays? Or will he be the latest five-star talent to choose the G League?

He posted a graphic to X announcing the schools in his top four:

The Courier-Journal reported that this recruiting has “been billed as a battle between U of L and UK from the jump.” Kevin Knox attended Kentucky, but Louisville head coach Kenny Payne coached him on the New York Knicks.

With that said, Knox played high school basketball in Florida and moved to Overtime Elite because Florida barred players from receiving Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) funding, according to SB Live. Perhaps he wants to return to Florida for college at USF — or maybe he sees a route to more money through the G League.

Regardless, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound forward told the Courier-Journal that he wants to be a one-and-done player.

“I want to be a pro,” he said. “That really plays a big part.”

Knox has 11 total offers and has taken official visits to Kentucky and Louisville, according to 247Sports. Prepping for his senior season, he is starting to wind down his commitment and near a decision.
