Auburn commit to play for state championship on Wednesday night

Four-star OL Bradyn Joiner will get a head start by playing his final high school game at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

One member of Auburn’s 2023 recruiting class will play his final high school game at his college home, Jordan-Hare Stadium, on Wednesday night.

Four-star OL [autotag]Bradyn Joiner[/autotag] and the Auburn High School Tigers will face perennial power, Thompson, on Wednesday night for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 7A finals.

The “baby Tigers” as they were once known avenged an earlier loss to Central Phenix City last Friday by defeating the Red Devils, 14-13 at Garrett Harrison Stadium in Phenix City. With the win, Auburn High was able to knock former Auburn commit, [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag], and former Auburn quarterback [autotag]Patrick Nix[/autotag], who is the head coach of Central Phenix City’s program, out of the playoffs.

Joiner has been a commit since Jan. 1 of this year, becoming one of the first players to pledge their commitment to Auburn. Since committing to Auburn, Joiner has been a frequent visitor to the Plains. He has made six visits to campus this calendar year according to 247Sports, and was on site for Auburn’s games against Penn State, Missouri, and LSU at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Joiner is the No. 25 recruit in the state of Alabama for the 2023 cycle according to 247Sports and is the No. 54 interior offensive lineman in the country.

2023 WR Karmello English releases top five, recently visited Alabama

2023 wide receiver Karmello English recently took an unofficial visit to Alabama for the Iron Bowl.

Wide receiver Karmello English of the 2023 class released his top five schools on Monday. Alabama was one of the schools that made the cut. The other four schools listed were Auburn, Kentucky, Michigan, and Jackson State.

Interestingly enough, English was committed to Auburn for two months before re-opening his recruitment. The native of Phenix City, Alabama has since taken an unofficial visit to Alabama for the Iron Bowl.

English is regarded as a four-star, according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. He is also listed as the No. 24 wide receiver in the country.

Currently, Alabama has three wide receivers committed in the 2023 recruiting class. Malik Benson (JUCO), Cole Adams, and Jalen Hale are all expected to sign during the early signing period. Will Alabama be able to keep English closer to home? We will have to wait and see.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow English’s recruitment as well as other Alabama football recruiting news.

2023 WR, Auburn decommit Karmello English visited Alabama for Iron Bowl

2023 wide receiver Karmello English made a trip to Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl. He was formerly committed to Auburn.

It isn’t every day that a former Auburn commit makes a visit to Tuscaloosa for an Iron Bowl. However, 2023 wide receiver Karmello English did just that as he took an unofficial visit to Alabama on Saturday.

English is a highly-touted wide receiver from Phenix City, Alabama. He was previously committed to the Tigers for two months before backing off of his verbal commitment. Many had expected Kentucky to land him in the end. However, it appears that the Tide is trying to keep English closer to home.

The Tide is also pushing heavily to land 2023 four-star wide receiver Jaren Hamilton. The expectation is that Hamilton will end up signing with Alabama. It remains to be seen if English has a committable offer and the level of interest between both parties. Nonetheless, we will continue to follow English’s recruitment closely.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football recruiting news.

4-star WR Karmello English decommits from Auburn

He was Auburn’s highest-ranked commit before backing off his pledge to the Tigers.

Auburn’s recruiting class suffered a big blow Wednesday morning when four-star wide receiver [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag] announced he had decommitted from the Tigers on Twitter.

English was Auburn’s highest-ranked commit at No. 162 overall in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He was also the No. 22 wide receiver and the No. 14 player in the state of Alabama.

The 5-foot-11, 182-pounder is from Phenix City,  Alabama, and committed to Auburn back on July 4. Here is his statement announcing the decision:

First and foremost I would like to thank god and the University of Auburn and their great coaching staff I am grateful to the staff for providing me a opportunity to represent WDE as a student-athlete.. I have had several conversations with my family and have came to a difficult decision.. I will be decommitting from the University of Auburn and reopening my recruitment.

Auburn’s recruiting class now has seven members and four-star wide receiver Daquayvious Sorey is their only receiver. However, that could be changing on Thursday as four-star wide receiver Adam Hopkins is expected to announce his commitment to Auburn.

Auburn offers No. 1 WR in the 2024 recruiting cycle

Auburn has entered the mix for 2024 five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo.

[autotag]Ike Hilliard[/autotag] may be recruiting high schoolers for the first time as a coach but he has hit the ground running.

He has already landed two four-star prospects in [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag] and [autotag]Daquayvious Sorey[/autotag]. Not only is English Auburn’s highest-rated commit, but prior to Hilliard joining Bryan Harsin’s staff the Tigers were not even in the picture to land him.

With the addition of those two to the Tigers 2023 class, Hilliard has turned his attention to the 2024 recruiting class and he is going after some big targets. On Monday he extended an offer to five-star [autotag]Ryan Wingo[/autotag], the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Wingo, who checks in at 6-foot-2 and 198-pounds, is from Saint Louis, Missouri, and already has over 30 college offers. He is ranked as the No. 6 overall player by the 247Sports composite and it is easy to see why.

He also runs track and his speed translated to the football field where he is not only a deep threat but can also make defenders miss in space.

Class of 2023 pledge JC Hart enjoys first Auburn game as a commit

Hart, a native of nearby Loachapoka, grew up attending Auburn home games. Saturday, he took in his first game as a commit.

Auburn’s recruiting efforts as far as quantity is slowly coming together. But, two things that head coach [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and other coaches have done well this cycle: bring in quality recruits and make sure that local recruits stay local.

One of those local commits, three-star cornerback [autotag]JC Hart[/autotag], was in attendance for Auburn’s season-opening win over Mercer on Saturday. While there, he did a short interview with Auburn Undercover’s Christian Clemente.

Hart, a product of nearby Loachapoka High School, told Clemente that he has attended many Auburn home games growing up, and used to beg his mother to take him joyriding to campus just to see Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Hart took in his first Auburn game as a commit on Saturday and says that it was an enjoyable experience.

“It’s been great,” Hart said. “I love everything about it.”

Hart was joined by fellow 2023 commits [autotag]Daquayvious Sorey[/autotag], [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag], and [autotag]Bradyn Joiner[/autotag] in Jordan-Hare Saturday. Those four took advantage of the third-quarter lightning delay by using that time to talk more to Auburn’s coaches. By spending time with current players, coaches, as well as fellow recruits, Hart says that he already feels a part of the team.

Hart has played a key role in Lochapoka’s early-season success. The Indians are currently 3-0 and have allowed just 12 points over that span. In last Friday’s win over Verbena High School, Hart recorded a 92-yard pick-six.

Auburn becomes new favorite to land four-star WR

Auburn could land the commitment of a former Georgia pledge Friday.

Auburn football received good news on the recruiting front Saturday afternoon.

Not only did a major target announce his commitment date, but a major recruiting site is now predicting that Auburn is the frontrunner to earn his pledge.

[autotag]Daquayvious Sorey[/autotag], a four-star wide receiver from Chipley, Florida, says that he intends to announce his commitment this upcoming Friday, Aug. 26. In addition to Auburn, Sorey is also considering Alabama, Florida, and Miami.

Shortly after Sorey shared his news, On3 revealed that Auburn is the front runner to earn Sorey’s pledge. Currently, Auburn has a 96.2% chance to grab Sorey’s commitment, which leads in-state schools Florida and Florida State by an overwhelming margin.

Sorey was briefly committed to Georgia from Feb. 19 to Feb. 26. After taking a few months to reconsider his options, Sorey announced a new top-four on June 16, dropping the Bulldogs completely out of consideration.

According to On3, Sorey is rated as a four-star wide receiver. He is the nation’s No. 35 ranked receiver and is the No. 53 overall prospect from Florida. If Auburn were to in fact land Sorey’s commitment, it would pair well with fellow four-star commitment, [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag].

Auburn commits shine in high school season openers

Five of Auburn’s seven commits were in action Friday night for their high school squads, and the final two will open their season on Saturday.

Auburn Football is building something special with their 2023 commitments.

The Tigers have seven commits so far for the cycle, with all but one receiving a four-star ranking by 247Sports.

Those recruits will have one more season of development in high school before making their way to the Plains. For most commits, they began their senior season of high school football on Friday night.

Three commits from the state of Alabama enjoyed a win on Friday. [autotag]Jeremiah Cobb[/autotag], a four-star running back from Montgomery, played a crucial role in Catholic’s 21-point season-opening win over McGill-Toolen. Four-star receiver [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag] was also a game-changer in Central-Phenix City’s victory over Hewitt-Trussville.

Here’s a recap of how five Auburn commits performed for their high school teams in week one. Two others, four-star safety [autotag]Terrance Love[/autotag] and three-star cornerback [autotag]JC Hart[/autotag], will open their seasons on Saturday.

Three-star OL lists Auburn among top six schools

Auburn is among one of the top programs to gain a commitment from Naquil Betrand, a three-star lineman from Philadelphia.

Auburn Football has begun to see a much-needed upward trend in commits for the 2023 cycle, as they have doubled their commitment list in just three days by reeling in four-star running back [autotag]Jeremiah Cobb[/autotag] and four-star wide receiver [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag].

Auburn may receive extra help in the form of an offensive lineman soon.

[autotag]Naquil Betrand[/autotag], a three-star offensive tackle from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has released his top-six college choices, with Auburn making the cut.

Joining Auburn in Betrand’s top-six are Syracuse, Penn State, Georgia, Kentucky and Texas A&M According to On3, the slight favorite to land him is Syracuse, who has been given a 35.8% chance to grab Betrand’s commitment. However, Auburn is third on the list with a 21% shot at landing him.

Betrand, who was committed to Colorado at the time of his official visit to Auburn during the weekend of June 21, told Auburn Live that Auburn has “a really good chance” to land him.

Betrand is currently ranked as the No. 65 OT in the country and the No. 20 prospect from the state of Pennsylvania according to On3. A commitment date has not been announced at this time.

In-state DL, Auburn target, set to commit Tuesday

Kedrick Faulk, a four-star EDGE from Highland Home, will choose between Auburn, Clemson, Florida, and Florida State on Tuesday morning.

One of the top prospects in the state of Alabama is set to announce his commitment on Tuesday, and Auburn will hope to earn his pledge.

[autotag]Keldric Faulk[/autotag], a four-star EDGE from Highland Home, Alabama, will announce his commitment Tuesday. In addition to Auburn, Faulk will choose between Florida, Clemson, and Florida State.

Faulk took an official visit to Auburn during the weekend of June 10-12. While there, Auburn coaches made sure to make Faulk feel wanted.

“Yeah I feel like they want me to sign pretty bad,” Faulk told Auburn Undercover. “I’m taking a real good look at it just to get the feel of it, see if it’s what I want to do. That’s why I came back.”

Cooper Petagna, National Recruiting Analyst for 247sports, says that Faulk has the athleticism and size to be successful at the next level.

:(Faulk) Appears to have a good first step off the line of scrimmage, flashing excellent body and foot quickness at the point of attack. Shows the ability to win consistently with his athleticism and length in pass rushing situations. Can bend the edge and has the ability to play in space. Uses his length well in space and to affect passing lanes. Demonstrates good burst to close ability and backside pursuit.”

For the 2023 cycle, Auburn has landed four commitments, all of whom were four stars. Of those four, running back [autotag]Jeremiah Cobb[/autotag] and wide receiver [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag] have committed over the last four days.
