Rams waive Kareem Orr, officially lock in Travin Howard for 2022

The Rams waived DB Kareem Orr, and also locked in LB Travin Howard for 2022 after he signed his free-agent tender

With roster limits being 90 players during the offseason, the Rams have plenty of room in their building. But they don’t plan to have Kareem Orr around in 2022.

On Saturday, the Rams announced that they have waived Orr from the 90-man roster. He played two games last season, making four tackles but struggling in coverage when called into action against the Cardinals in Week 14.

In addition to waiving Orr on Saturday, the Rams also locked in Travin Howard for the 2022 season. He signed his restricted free agent tender, which will pay him $2.54 million.

As is the case with Matt Gay, the tender is not guaranteed so the Rams can move on from Howard at any time before Week 1 without penalty. Howard will likely be the third linebacker on the depth chart behind Bobby Wagner and Ernest Jones.

Former Titans CB Kareem Orr signs with Rams

Orr has landed in a new home in Los Angeles.

Former Tennessee Titans cornerback Kareem Orr has found a new home, signing a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, according to the league’s transactions wire on Wednesday.

Orr was signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and played in seven games over two seasons with Tennessee, totaling 16 combined tackles and one fumble recovery, while also serving as a special teams contributor.

In 2019, he played 46 snaps on defense and 17 on special teams. In 2020, he once again took part in 46 defensive snaps, but saw an increase in special teams snaps with 39.

The 24-year-old started the offseason on the Titans’ roster but was waived back on May 7 when the team added defensive back Greg Mabin and linebacker Justin March.

Orr played his last two seasons of college ball at Arizona State after transferring from Chattanooga.

In 22 games between 2015 and 2016, he compiled 91 total tackles, seven interceptions, including six in 2015, one defensive touchdown, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble.

Rams sign former Titans DB Kareem Orr

The Rams added another defensive back on Wednesday, signing former Titans DB Kareem Orr.

The Los Angeles Rams’ roster wasn’t quite at 90 players, so they had room to add some more depth. They did just that on Wednesday, signing former Titans cornerback Kareem Orr.

Orr spent the last two seasons in Tennessee, playing seven games and making 16 total tackles. He played 46 defensive snaps in each season, as well as 56 total snaps on special teams.

Orr began his college career at Arizona State where he had 38 tackles and six interceptions as a freshman. He had one interception in 2016 as a sophomore but transferred to UT-Chattanooga where he played two more seasons.

He went undrafted in 2019 but signed with the Titans, making the 53-man roster as a rookie.

Titans add three, waive one in flurry of roster moves

The Titans have confirmed the signing of Brian Hill, among four moves.

The Tennessee Titans announced four roster moves on Thursday, one of which includes the signing of former Atlanta Falcons running back, Brian Hill, whose agent revealed the move on Wednesday.

Among the other three moves were the signings of linebacker Justin March and defensive back Greg Mabin, and the waiving of defensive back Kareem Orr.

Hill, who had a career year with the Falcons in 2020 with 664 total yards (465 rushing) and one score, will provide some competition for the backup running back job behind Derrick Henry. Darrynton Evans and Jeremy McNichols will also be vying for snaps.

Mabin was a member of the Titans during the 2020 campaign, spending most of his time on the practice squad. He never appeared in a game for the Titans, but did play in five contests (four starts) with the Jacksonville Jaguars near the end of the season, totaling 21 total tackles and three passes defensed.

March was originally an undrafted free agent out of Akron before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015. He has also spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks.

Orr spent the last two seasons in Nashville, appearing in seven games (no starts) over that span. He finished with 16 combined tackles (13 solo) and one fumble recovered.

The Titans have reportedly chosen one player to elevate from the practice squad.

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly chosen one player they will elevate from the practice squad for the Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday night at Nissan Stadium.

According to Justin Melo of Draft Wire, cornerback Kareem Orr will be elevated from the practice squad. The Titans do have the option of elevating a second player, but there’s no word on if they will do that just yet.

This could mean that rookie cornerback Kristian Fulton won’t make it back in time after being placed on the COVID-19 list. No. 1 cornerback, Adoree’ Jackson, is out for this game.

Orr hasn’t appeared in a game this season, but he did play in two games for the Titans in 2019, totaling nine tackles.

The Titans might not be done making moves yet, as it’s possible some players get activated off the COVID-19 list ahead of kickoff, which is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. CT.
