Analyzing Wednesday’s Kansas City Royals at Miami Marlins odds and lines, with expert MLB picks, predictions and best bets.

The Kansas City Royals (18-43) and the Miami Marlins (34-28) wrap up a 3-game interleague series Wednesday at loanDepot park in Miami. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Royals vs. Marlins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Marlins lead 2-0

Miami followed up a 9-6 win in Monday’s series opener with a 6-1 rout of Kansas City on Tuesday night. The Marlins have rattled off 12 victories in the past 13 interleague games while cashing in 7 in a row at home against the American League. The Fish have also posted wins in 6 of the past 7 contests against AL Central foes.

The Royals have sunk to 25 games under .500, and 13 games behind the 1st-place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. Kansas City has dropped 5 of the past 6 games, and it has scored 3 or fewer runs in 6 of its last 9 contests, cashing the Under at a 7-2 clip during the span dating back to May 27.

Royals at Marlins projected starters

RHP Jordan Lyles vs. RHP Edward Cabrera

Lyles (0-9, 6.89 ERA) makes his 13th start. He has a 1.32 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 in 66 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 8 K in a 7-2 home loss vs. the Colorado Rockies Friday
  • 2023 Road splits: 0-4, 9.89 ERA (23 2/3 IP, 26 ER – 6 HR) with 13 BB, 20 K and a .287 opponent batting average (OBA) in 5 starts

Royals at Marlins picks and predictions

Prediction

Marlins 7, Royals 2

Moneyline

The MARLINS (-175) are just below my personal moneyline limit of -180 for a singular wager, and I am actually surprised this number isn’t much, much higher.

Miami has had its way against interleague competition lately, and the pitching splits in this matchup are insane. Lyles is a dismal 0-4 with a 9.89 ERA in 5 road starts, while Cabrera is 4-0 with a 2.77 ERA in 5 home outings. That suggests this is going to be a rout in favor of the home side.

Run line/Against the spread

The MARLINS -1.5 (+115) are worth a look as they look to broom Kansas City out of town.

The Fish have won 5 in a row at home and Miami has won each of those contests — all as a favorite — by 2 or more runs. It also has won 8 in a row against the American League, winning by 2 or more runs in each of those contests.

The Royals have a winless pitcher on the hill with 9 setbacks on the season. Kansas City just cannot be trusted, while Miami is worth backing as it works its way through an ultra-easy portion of the schedule.

Over/Under

The OVER 8.5 (-105) is the lean, although I’d go rather lightly.

While I expect the Marlins to get to Lyles early and often, the same can’t be said for the Royals’ bats against Cabrera. He has been red-hot at home, and runs will be at a premium for the visitors. Miami is certainly capable of hitting the Over without any assistance from Kansas City. Just be careful.

Kansas City Royals at Miami Marlins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Kansas City Royals at Miami Marlins odds and lines, with expert MLB picks, predictions and best bets.

The Kansas City Royals (18-42) and the Miami Marlins (33-28) play the middle contest of a 3-game interleague series Tuesday at loanDepot park in Miami. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Royals vs. Marlins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Marlins lead 1-0

Miami won Monday’s series opener 9-6. The Royals took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning and were ahead 4-2 midway through the 3rd inning. However, the Marlins rolled up 7 unanswered runs from the bottom of the 4th through the 6th inning to earn the victory.

The Marlins might want to petition Commissioner Rob Manfred to move to the American League. Miami has won 11 of the past 12 interleague games while going 6-0 in the past 6 games at home against the AL. It is also 5-1 in the past 6 games at against the AL Central.

Greinke (1-5, 4.19 ERA) makes his 13th start. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 1.3 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 in 62 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 K in a 2-1 road loss vs. the St. Louis Cardinals last Tuesday
  • 2023 Road splits: 0-3, 5.52 ERA (29 1/3 IP, 18 ER – 7 HR) with 4 BB, 23 K and a .267 opponent batting average (OBA) in 6 starts

Luzardo (4-4, 4.05 ERA) makes his 13th start. He has a 1.35 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 in 66 2/3 innings.

Royals at Marlins picks and predictions

Prediction

Marlins 6, Royals 3

Moneyline

The MARLINS (-160) are worth backing again in Game 2 of this interleague series.

Miami has rattled off 7 consecutive victories against the American League, and Luzardo has respectable numbers in front of the home fans. The Royals have struggled against the AL — and everybody else — while Greinke has also had some uneven performances away from home.

Run line/Against the spread

The MARLINS -1.5 (+125) are a solid play on the run line at home.

Miami has been cleaning up against the dregs of the American League, winning and covering each of the past 4 games against the Oakland Athletics and Royals in the previous 4 home outings.

If you like Miami to win, you should like it on the run line, too. The Marlins have won the past 7 interleague games by 2 or more runs.

Meanwhile, the Royals are just 2-6 on the run line in the last 8 games overall.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The OVER 8 (-115) is worth a look in Game 2 after a high-scoring series opener.

The Under is still 6-2 in the past 8 games overall for the Royals, but the Over is 8-3 in the past 11 against the NL East, while cashing at a 22-10-1 clip in the past 33 games against winning teams.

The Over has cashed in 6 of the past 7 games against a right-handed starting pitcher for the Marlins and is 5-0 in their past 5 games after a win.

The Kansas City Royals (18-41) and the Miami Marlins (32-28) open a 3-game interleague series Monday at loanDepot Park in Miami. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Royals vs. Marlins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting since 2019 when Royals won series 2-1

The Royals picked up a 2-0 win on Sunday afternoon at home against the Colorado Rockies, halting a 3-game losing streak. Kansas City has won 3 of the last 8 games against NL teams while going 8-15 overall this season in interleague play.

The Marlins swept the hapless Oakland Athletics over the weekend at home, outscoring the A’s 23-6 to move 4 games above .500. Miami has won 6 in a row against AL teams, also sweeping the Los Angeles Angels in a 3-game road set from May 26-28. The Marlins are an impressive 10-2 in interleague play this season.

Royals at Marlins picks and predictions

Prediction

Marlins 5, Royals 2

Moneyline

The MARLINS (-175) are just under the wire for my personal limit on a moneyline bet.

Miami has been red-hot in interleague play lately, winning 6 in a row, and 10 of the last 11 games. The Marlins are also 5-0 in the last 5 at home against the American League.

The Fish have cashed in 5 of the last 6 tries against right-handed starting pitchers, too, while going 8-2 in the last 10 overall at home.

On the flip side, the Royals (+145) have won just 6 of the last 21 interleague games, while cashing in just 5 of the last 17 tries against left-handed starting pitchers.

Run line/Against the spread

The MARLINS -1.5 (+115) are worth a look on the run line.

Miami has covered the run line in each of the last 3 games, all against the A’s this past weekend. It has also won the last 6 interleague games by at least 2 runs, too.

As an underdog, the Royals +1.5 (-140) have covered 3 in a row on the run line, winning 2 of those games outright. However, Kansas City is just 2-5 on the run line in the last 7 games overall.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The UNDER 8 (-115) is the line in this interleague series opener.

The Under has cashed in 6 of the last 7 games overall for the Royals, while going 15-5-1 in the last 21 games on the road. The Under is 6-1 in the last 7 interleague outings, too.

For the Marlins, the Over is 9-4-1 in the last 14 games at home. However, the Under is 4-1 in the previous 5 series openers, while going 3-1-1 in the last 5 against AL Central foes.
