Giants sign OT Garrett McGhin, waive OT Kamaal Seymour

The New York Giants have signed OT Garrett McGhin and waived OT Kamaal Seymour with a failure to disclose physical condition designation.

The New York Giants continued their early training camp roster tinkering on Wednesday evening by signing offensive tackle Garrett McGhin.

The 6-foot-6, 302-pound McGhin originally signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina following the 2019 NFL draft. He’s also had stints with the Carolina Panthers (2019), Jacksonville Jaguars (2020-2021) and, most recently, the New Jersey Generals of the USFL.

General manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll obviously have some familiarity with McGhin from their time in Buffalo. The 26-year-old actually made two stops there (2019, 2020).

McGhin has appeared in only two NFL games with both of those coming in 2019 as a member of the Panthers.

In order to make room for McGhin on their 90-man roster, the Giants also waived offensive lineman Kamaal Seymour with a failure to disclose physical condition designation. He had been signed earlier this week.

In addition to McGhin, the Giants also worked out offensive lineman Tyree St. Louis, and linebackers Jordan Evans and Austin Calitro. None of the other three were signed.

Giants sign four players in flurry of roster moves

The New York Giants have signed four players, including safety Andrew Adams, and parted ways with four others.

The New York Giants announced the addition of four players on Tuesday, including safety Andrew Adams.

In addition to Adams, the Giants have also signed wide receiver Marcus Kemp, offensive tackle Kamaal Seymour and defensive end Nick Williams.

All four players had worked out for the team on Monday.

Adams entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of UConn, signing with the Giants following the 2016 NFL draft. He spent the first two seasons of his career with Big Blue before stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2018, 2019-2020, 2021), Detroit Lions (2019) and Philadelphia Eagles (2021).

The 32-year-old Williams was a seventh-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2013 NFL draft. The Kansas City Chiefs signed him off of the Steelers’ practice squad in 2014 and he remained with the team into 2016. After being waived by the Chiefs, he briefly joined the Miami Dolphins and later spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Kemp signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie out of Hawaii following the 2017 NFL draft. He’s spent most of his career with the team save for a brief stint with the Dolphins in 2020.

Seymour joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 but was waived last May with a non-football injury. He has never appeared in an NFL game.

To make room for the four signees, the Giants waived defensive back Henry Black, defensive tackle Jabari Ellis and wide receiver Travis Toivonen, and terminated the contract of cornerback Maurice Canady.

As the Raiders take the field for OTA’s, they made a roster transaction. They have waived offensive lineman Kamaal Seymour with a Non-Football Injury, which means he sustained the injury away from the facility.

Seymour had originally signed with the Raiders last offseason and spent the 2020 season on the team’s practice squad.

The 6-6, 310-pound tackle went undrafted out of Rutgers and earned his spot on the practice squad in part because the team saw potential in his ability to play inside and outside along the offensive line.

It could be due in part to Seymour’s injury that the team [lawrence-newsletter][lawrence-newsletter]brought back veteran offensive lineman Patrick Omameh, who had played snaps at guard and tackle for the Raiders last season.

Even with those transactions, the team still has a roster spot open should they wish to add someone else.
