Four-star recruit Kalen Edwards commits to Kentucky football

Defensive lineman Kalen Edwards has committed to Kentucky football.

Just a day after getting a commitment from four-star edge rusher Javeon Campbell, the defensive line got another big-time addition. On Wednesday, defensive lineman Kalen Edwards added his name to the list of 2025 recruits to join Kentucky football.

Edwards is a 6’4″, 315 lb defensive lineman and rated four stars by 247sports. He ranks as the number 342 recruit overall in the composite rankings of the 2025 class. They have him as the 38th ranked defensive lineman.

A Tennessee product, Edwards becomes the sixth four-star recruit to commit to the Wildcats for 2025. His addition puts Kentucky’s class inside the top 20 nationally, something that fans aren’t quite used to yet.

Coach Mark Stoops and his staff have done a terrific job with the roster in recent years, and it looks like 2025 will be one of their best so far. Big Blue Nation is excited to see them play in Lexington soon enough.

Former Auburn commit Kalen Edwards plans to visit the Plains more

The former Auburn pledge struck up a relationship with DL coach Vontrell King-Williams during his recent weekend visit.

2025 defensive lineman recruit[autotag]Kalen Edwards[/autotag] was once committed to become an Auburn Tiger, but backed off his promise following defensive line coach [autotag]Jeremy Garrett[/autotag]’s departure for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars.

Although the 6-4, 330-pound lineman is no longer committed to Auburn, he did have the chance to visit the Plains recently. The Tennessee native reportedly enjoyed his time with new defensive line coach [autotag]Vontrell King-Williams[/autotag]. The new relationship has caused Edwards to have second thoughts, which will lead to more visits in the future.

If Edwards were to come back to the Tigers, [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] would be securing the talents of the No. 38 ranked defensive lineman in the 2025 class. Edwards is also the No. 11 ranked player out of the “Volunteer State.”

Auburn isn’t the only program vying for his talents however, as Edwards has visits to Louisville, Memphis, and Georgia lined up in the near future. The high schoolers decision could come after the trio of visits.

“I really don’t know for sure. I’m going on the rest of my OV’s just to see,” Edwards said in an interview with On3. “Auburn is in the back of my head for sure.”

As the recruiting race continues to land four-star defensive lineman Andrew Maddox, he narrows down his list to 12 schools, including Auburn.

Powerful linemen have been a presence in every recruiting class up to this point, and this year is no different. Many notable programs are out to land these potential future stars and are in tight races. This list includes Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Alabama, Miami (FL), Arkansas, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Maddox was most recently in Auburn in the middle of January for his third visit after visiting during the Mississippi State and Alabama games during the 2023 season. His takeaways on the program have been super positive and now the Tigers are making a giant push to land the standout.

He is currently ranked the No. 116 overall player and No. 8 defensive lineman according to the On3 industry ranking. He is also ranked the No. 5 player in the state of Mississippi.

Auburn can increase its No. 10 ranking in the 2025 class should it land Maddox. The Hattiesburg native would join the likes of [autotag]Jourdin Crawford[/autotag], [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag] and [autotag]Kalen Edwards[/autotag] as a member of a strong defensive line class.

Social media reacts to Auburn landing 2025 4-star DL Kalen Edwards

Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class is shaping up quite nicely.

The 2024 recruiting cycle is in full swing but Auburn is already building an impressive 2025 class. That class got even better on Monday when four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Kalen Edwards[/autotag] announced his commitment to the Tigers.

He is Auburn’s 7th commitment in the class and gives them the No. 5 ranked class in the 247Sports ranking. The class is headlined by four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag], who is from Opelika.

The class is built through the trenches with three commitments along the defensive line and two along the offensive line.

The addition fired up the Auburn fanbase which took to social media to celebrate the news, here is a look at the top reactions.

Four-star DL announces commitment to Auburn

Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers have landed another talented addition to its 2025 haul.

There is less than a month remaining until the early signing period begins for members of the 2024 class. Still, Auburn is continuing to build toward its future by landing a talented member of the 2025 cycle.

[autotag]Kalen Edwards[/autotag], a four-star defensive lineman from Dyersburg, Tennessee, announced Monday that he has committed to Auburn. He chose the Tigers over many Power Five programs such as Georgia, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Edwards earned an offer from Auburn last January, his third offer at the time. Since then, Edwards has fielded 10 additional offers. He visited Auburn during Iron Bowl weekend and left the visit feeling optimistic about Auburn’s future under head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag].

“The environment was electric and Coach Freeze is going to take the program to a special place in the near future,” Edwards said in a recent interview with Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

The Tigers are now No. 7 in 247Sports 2025 recruiting rankings following Edwards’ commitment. The class is headlined by four-star DL [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag], four-star EDGE [autotag]Jakaleb Faulk[/autotag], and three-star TE [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag].

Edwards is the No. 9 overall prospect from the state of Tennessee from the 2025 cycle and is the No. 28 defensive lineman for the class.
