2021 4-star QB Kaidon Salter lists Michigan State in his top-11 list of schools

There has been a little bit of consternation amongst Michigan State fans over the weekend regarding recruiting. Well, let’s be honest, there has been consternation regarding recruiting at Michigan State for a while now. Many fans hoped Mel Tucker would bring in new results on the recruiting trail given his reputation, and while his team has been firing off scholarship offers on a daily basis, the results haven’t really come to bear yet. For fans looking for some positive developments, 4-star 2021 quarterback Kaidon Salter has announced that MSU is one of the top-11 choices in his selection process.

Salter, who plays for Cedar Hill High School in Texas, is the No. 4 ranked dual-threat QB in the 2021 recruiting class and the No. 12 ranked player in Texas according to 247sports’ rankings. This would be a big-time get for Tucker and his staff if Salter heads to East Lansing.

Kaidon Salter is the fourth quarterback Mel Tucker has offered in the class of 2021.

Mel Tucker and company are not wasting any time pursuing the quarterback of the future at Michigan State.

Less than a week after offering three different class of 2021 quarterbacks, Tucker has offered the top-ranked junior signal caller in the State of Texas Kaidon Salter.

Salter, out of Cedar Hills, Texas, is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback and No. 89 prospect overall in the 2021 class. The 6’2 185 lb. quarterback currently boasts offers from a dozen power five schools including Auburn, Baylor, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Utah.

According to a breakdown of Salter after the latest 247 re-rank, Salter, “led the (Cedar Hill) Longhorns to a 9-3 record and a second-round playoff appearance in the Texas Class 6A Division II bracket. Salter accounted for more than 3,100 total yards of offense and 38 total touchdowns. He threw for 2,550 yards, 28 TD’s, and six interceptions on a 60.8 completion percentage. He added 616 yards and 10 scores on almost 6.2 yards per carry.”

Salter is also a standout track and field athlete at Cedar Hill.

With a crowded quarterback room going into the 2020 season, Tennessee has enough options to choose from before the Vols kick off against Charlotte in September.

Tennessee is pursuing another signal-caller to add into the mix, as the Vols offered 2021 dual-threat quarterback Kaidon Salter on Tuesday.

Salter is a three-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite, rated as the No. 19 dual-threat prospect in his class.

Out of Cedar Hill, Texas, Tennessee will have to fend off some in-state programs as the newcomers in Salter’s recruitment. Salter holds offers from Baylor and Houston, as Tennessee is the first SEC school to officially extend a scholarship.

Tennessee’s coaching staff has shown it will bring in quarterbacks of several different skill sets, as the current situation has players that were rated as both pro-style and dual-threat quarterbacks throughout their recruitment.
