Oklahoma Sooners pick up commitment from 2025 four-star

Porter Moser and Oklahoma Basketball earned a huge commitment from 2025 center Kai Rogers.

Porter Moser and the Oklahoma coaching staff earned a big-time commitment on Friday as Kai Rogers pledged to play for the Sooners. Rogers is considered a four-star prospect and a top-100 player in the 2025 recruiting class.

He joins a recruiting class that features another top 100 player in California small forward [autotag]Alec Blair[/autotag] as well as one of the top international prospects, [autotag]Andrea Hoist[/autotag].

Despite missing the NCAA tournament each of Moser’s three seasons in Norman, the Sooners have had a strong offseason on the recruiting front. Rogers is the latest win for Porter Moser.

Rogers held notable offers from Florida State, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Indiana, Iowa, Texas, Illinois, and DePaul.

Rogers is a bit of a throwback player in today’s modern basketball world: He wins and dominates from the post. He’s not a stretch four or a stretch five but a true center who scores frequently with his back to the basket, using soft hands and hooks to score over defenders. He’s also unafraid of turning and facing defenses to attack them off the dribble. He can afford to continue to get stronger and play with more intensity more consistently. He has a high ceiling that can be reached with more experience and finding a collegiate team with which he can grow. – Bryant Crews, Sooners Wire

If there’s an area the Sooners have struggled with under Moser, it’s around the rim. Rogers could be an impact player day one with his ability to run the floor, defend the basket, and play with his back to the hoop. They’ve added a legitimate inside presence who will provide a scoring threat to help take pressure off of Oklahoma’s perimeter scoring.

Oklahoma favored to land consensus four-star center Kai Rogers

Oklahoma Sooners favored to land four-star center Kai Rogers.

Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners had one heck of a summer. The Sooners landed not one but two recruits.

Ultra-talented wing playmaker Alec Blair was the first to come aboard; the top 50 prospect pledged to the Sooners in July. Hailing from Denmark with a skill set that closely resembles many modern big men, Andreas Holst committed in mid-September.

As the calendar turns to October, recruiting for the class of 2025 is heating up. Senior seasons are approaching and the early signing period is right around the corner.

Oklahoma is not done for 2025. That was made abundantly clear on Sunday when national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw of On3 dropped a prediction favoring the Sooners to land 6-foot-10 big man Kai Rogers.

Oklahoma hosted Rogers and his family on an official visit over the summer, and the Sooners have made him a priority since. The only competition Oklahoma has to worry about is former Big 12 foe Iowa State. The Cyclones have a history of landing basketball talent from Wisconsin.

Oklahoma nor Iowa State will not have to wait much longer as the consensus four-star recruit plans to announce his decision on Nov. 6. As it stands, the Sooners are gaining momentum. Landing Rogers would vault the Sooners from the No. 44 recruiting class in the country into the top 20 at No. 16.

Wisconsin commit Zach Kinziger moves in latest ESPN100 for class of 2025

Wisconsin commit Zach Kinziger moves in latest ESPN100 for class of 2025

Wisconsin commit Zach Kinziger is now ranked No. 68 in the latest ESPN100 ranking for the class of 2025.

Two months ago, Kinziger was ranked No. 67 in the midst of a hectic summer with De Pere High School and Team Herro in the AAU circuit.

The De Pere, Wisconsin native is considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, On3 and ESPN. 247Sports ranks the 6’3,” 175-pound shooting guard as the No. 128 overall player in the class of 2025, No. 24 shooting guard and No. 4 prospect from Wisconsin.

While Kinziger and three-star center Will Garlock are Wisconsin’s lone commitments in the class at the moment, four other in-state class of 2025 prospects were included in ESPN Recruiting Director Paul Biancardi’s latest hierarchy.

That list includes four-star center Kai Rogers (undecided), four-star forward Xzavion Mitchell (Iowa State), four-star shooting guard Jamarion Batemon (Iowa State) and four-star combo guard Davion Hannah (undecided).

While Kinziger has already offered his pledge to join Greg Gard’s program, both Hannah and Rogers could eventually end up in Madison. On3’s recruiting prediction machine awarded UW a 15.3% chance to land Rogers and a 22.8% chance to secure a commitment from Hannah, ESPN’s No. 22 prospect for the class.

2025 top-100 C Kai Rogers wraps up unofficial visit to Wisconsin

Wisconsin MBB had one of the nation’s top young big men on campus this past weekend:

This past weekend, Greg Gard and his coaching staff hosted one of the nation’s premier big men, 2025 top-100 center Kai Rogers, on campus for an unofficial visit.

Per 247Sports, he’s the No. 72 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 11 C in the country, and the No. 2 player in Wisconsin.

Rogers, a 6-foot-10, 210-pound big man out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, already holds offers from Florida State, Georgetown, Illinois, Iowa, Ole Miss, St. John’s, Texas, and his home state, Wisconsin Badgers.

As it stands, Rodgers is one of just two players Greg Gard has offered in the 2025 recruiting cycle, along with fellow in-state standout Davion Hannah.

As a freshman, he averaged 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks on 69% shooting from the field for Wauwatosa West High School.

Right now, Roger’s strengths are his ability to finish in the paint, using his frame to establish a deep post position, and playing through contact. Defensively, he has all the tools you’re looking for at the Power 5 level.

Rogers is still maturing physically, which is scary considering the incredibly high-ceiling he already has – making him one of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class.

The UW coaching staff has made Rogers a priority early in his recruitment and figure to be in the mix until the end. However, the blue-bloods are already sniffing around, so it’s only a matter of time before they truly throw their hats in the ring.

That said, Wisconsin appears to have put itself in a good position early on for the top-100 recruit.

Rogers, a Milwaukee native, already holds offers from Florida State, Illinois, Iowa, Ole Miss, Texas, and now UW.

Right now, the Wauwatosa West standouts bread and butter comes from finishing in the paint and playing through contact. Defensively, he has all the tools that could make him an incredibly high-upside prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.
