Wisconsin DB target Kahlil Tate commits to Big Ten rival

Wisconsin misses on one of their top remaining DB targets in the 2023 recruiting cycle:

After making his top two list, Wisconsin’s top remaining safety target, 2023 three-star S Kahlil Tate, officially committed to the University of Iowa on Tuesday.

Per the 247Sports Composite, Tate is the No. 613 overall prospect in the 2023 class, the No. 53 ATH in the country, and the No. 10 player in Illinois.

Last season, the Kenwood Academy standout registered 63 tackles, five interceptions, and two forced fumbles as a junior.

Tate, a Chicago, Illinois native, also held offers from Wisconsin, Purdue, Arkansas, Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, and several others.

3-star DB Kahlil Tate commits to the Iowa Hawkeyes, becomes 17th class of 2023 pledge

Iowa added another commitment to its 2023 class from talented defensive back Kahlil Tate. The Hawkeyes now have 17 commits.

Iowa’s defensive backfield just added its latest reinforcement. The Hawkeyes picked up a commitment from defensive back Kahlil Tate out of the Kenwood Academy in Chicago, Ill.

Tate joins fellow defensive back commits John Nestor and Zach Lutmer and he represents the 17th pledge in Iowa’s 2023 class. According to 247Sports, ESPN, On3 and Rivals, Tate is a consensus three-star commit.

He chose the Hawkeyes over fellow finalist Wisconsin and Power Five offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Syracuse and Tennessee.

Tate picked up his offer from Iowa on Jan. 21 and visited on June 24. Ultimately, it looks like that visit during the Hawkeyes’ biggest recruiting weekend of the year helped push this in Iowa’s direction. It looked good for Iowa after expert predictions started rolling in this past weekend, and now his commitment to the Hawkeyes and defensive coordinator Phil Parker is official.

Rivals ranks Tate as the nation’s No. 31 safety and the No. 8 prospect from Illinois. Meanwhile, On3 ranks Tate as the No. 69 safety and the No. 13 player from Illinois.

247Sports lists Tate as the country’s No. 69 athlete and the No. 12 recruit from Illinois. Lastly, ESPN ranks Tate as the No. 71 cornerback and the No. 14 player from Illinois.

Tate registered 63 tackles, five interceptions and a pair of forced fumbles this past season with Kenwood Academy. He also added 451 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Recruiting experts predicting 3-star DB Khalil Tate to commit to the Iowa Hawkeyes

A series of recruiting experts have submitted predictions for Kenwood Academy defensive back Khalil Tate to commit to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

There’s good news this weekend on one of Iowa’s top remaining defensive targets. Class of 2023 defensive back Khalil Tate out of the Kenwood Academy in Chicago, Ill., has picked up a series of predictions to commit to the Hawkeyes.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu, Badger247‘s Evan Flood and HawkeyeInsider‘s Sean Bock all submitted crystal ball predictions for Tate to Iowa on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, HawkeyeInsider’s David Eickholt submitted a prediction for Tate to the Hawkeyes.

Rivals experts have been issuing forecasts to Iowa as well. Tom Kakert of HawkeyeReport and Jon McNamara of BadgerBlitz issued FutureCasts for Tate to the Hawkeyes on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Tate is regarded as a three-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN, On3 and Rivals. Rivals ranks Tate as the nation’s No. 31 safety and the No. 8 prospect from Illinois. Meanwhile, On3 ranks Tate as the No. 69 safety and the No. 13 player from Illinois.

247Sports lists Tate as the country’s No. 69 athlete and the No. 12 recruit from Illinois. Lastly, ESPN ranks Tate as the No. 71 cornerback and the No. 14 player from Illinois.

It would be a sensational add to the Hawkeyes’ already impressive 2023 recruiting class. Iowa’s 2023 class ranks No. 16 nationally by Rivals, No. 19 by 247Sports and No. 21 by On3. That ranks fourth in the Big Ten according to each website’s league recruiting rankings.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have their biggest recruiting weekend of the year as they welcome 22 potential 2023 recruits to campus. Here’s the guests.

This Friday to Sunday will be the biggest and arguably most important recruiting weekend for the Hawkeyes this year. They are welcoming 22 potential recruits to campus that are part of the 2023 class. Of the 22 visiting, nine are committed to the Hawkeyes and 13 still have yet to decide where they will call home next fall.

The group is headlined by five-star tackle Kadyn Proctor, who is rated No. 10 nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings. He has narrowed his recruitment down to Iowa and the Alabama Crimson Tide. This weekend could play a big factor into his decision.

Another important visitor is quarterback commit Marco Lainez III. His presence could be very beneficial to those uncommitted and be a proponent for the Hawkeyes.

Earlier this week, 247Sports writer Evan Flood gave his Crystal Ball Prediction for 2023 defensive back Kahlil Tate to commit to the University of Wisconsin.

Per the 247Sports composite, Tate is the No. 534 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 48 ATH in the country, and the No. 9 player in the state of Illinois.

The Kenwood Academy standout currently holds offers from Iowa, Purdue, Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, and several other power five schools.

Wisconsin Badgers defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard see’s safety as Tate’s best position at the next level.
