Top 10 uncommitted Offensive Linemen in the 2023 recruiting class per 247Sports

A look at the top 10 uncommitted offensive linemen in the 2023 recruiting class per 247Sports.

The Oklahoma Sooners have had some of the best offensive lines in the country over the last decade. Some of that is due to the talent they’ve pulled in, but the Oklahoma Sooners have also had some of the best coaching in the country during that time.

Brent Venables’ decision to retain Bill Bedenbaugh was huge for the Sooners. It helped maintain continuity on the recruiting trail and in the offensive line room. This year as the Sooners look to replace Marquis Hayes and Tyrese Robinson, two of their more seasoned players over the last couple of years, having a steady and proven voice coaching the offensive line will help with the turnover.

Looking ahead to the future, the Oklahoma Sooners brought in two four-star offensive linemen, Jake Taylor and Jacob Sexton, as part of their 2022 recruiting class. So far in 2023, they’ve got interior offensive lineman Joshua Bates committed and will likely land the commitment from the No. 8 offensive lineman in the country, Cayden Green.

With just four commitments in the 2023 class at this time, the Oklahoma Sooners are still putting together their recruiting class for the next signing day cycle.

As the Sooners continue to build their 2023 recruiting class, let’s look at the country’s top 10 remaining uncommitted offensive linemen, according to 247Sports.

Iowa 5-Star offensive tackle breaks down recruitment with Notre Dame

The Irish are firmly in contention for the 5-Star

The Irish have made the final seven schools for Iowa offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. Ranked as one of the top overall players in the country in the 2023 class, the star lineman took a trip to Texas along with the Iowa Flex 7-on-7 team to partake in the festivities.

In a report from Gabe Brooks of 247Sports, Proctor broke down each of his final seven schools and how his recruitment with them is going. For Notre Dame, he loves South Bend and “coach Freeman really talks to me a lot and he texts me.”

Proctor has yet to speak with Harry Hiestand, but that is due to “letting him (Hiestand) getting settled in because he just go there.” Expect them to get on a call soon as the recruitment starts to heat up a bit.

The other six schools Notre Dame is contending with for Proctor’s commitment are Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State and Iowa. It does seem like Proctor will trim his list once again and hopefully the Irish make that cut as well.

Iowa earns crystal ball prediction for 5-star OL Kadyn Proctor

Iowa earned a big crystal ball prediction from 247Sports reporter Sean Bock on five-star offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor.

No pun intended, but Iowa could be adding a big commitment at some point soon. Sean Bock of HawkeyeInsider submitted a 247Sports crystal ball prediction for five-star class of 2023 offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor to Iowa.

The 6-foot-7, 330 pound offensive tackle is out of Southeast Polk High School in Des Moines, Iowa. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Proctor is the nation’s No. 5 player overall in the 2023 class, the top offensive tackle and the No. 1 player from the state of Iowa.

Rivals rates Proctor as the country’s No. 12 overall player in the 2023 class, the No. 1 offensive tackle and the top player from the state of Iowa. HawkeyeReport publisher Tom Kakert also predicted Proctor would land with Iowa on Dec. 24, 2021.

According to On3, Proctor is the nation’s No. 31 overall player in the 2023 class, the No. 3 offensive tackle and the best player from the state of Iowa. In the On3 consensus rankings, Proctor checks in as the country’s No. 4 2023 prospect, the No. 1 offensive tackle and the No. 1 player from the state of Iowa. ESPN rates Proctor as the No. 6 overall player in the 2023 class, the No. 1 offensive tackle and the top player from the state of Iowa.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu evaluated Proctor on Aug 4, 2021, and wrote this about the elite recruit.

Prototypical height, length and size. Lines up at left tackle and currently projects as a future college blind side protector. Good natural athlete. Shows explosiveness off the ball, twitch and quickness for a big man. Gets out of his stance quickly in pass protection. Has strength and a powerful punch. Can run and get out in front of plays to make blocks in space. Shows few glaring weaknesses, but can still tweak technique and steaily improve on testing numbers. Is a high-end prospect who can play for any school in the country and has the upside and work ethic to play beyond that. – Allen Trieu, 247Sports.

According to 247Sports, Proctor currently has 36 offers. In addition to Iowa, that list includes fellow Big Ten foes Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State and Penn State. He has offers from all over, though.

Out of the SEC, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M have all offered. Big 12 schools Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and West Virginia have also extended offers.

Proctor’s Pac-12 offers list includes Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon and USC. From the ACC, Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina have offered Proctor. Lastly, Proctor also holds offers from Arkansas State, Charlotte, Notre Dame and Tulane.

When Proctor released his top-seven schools on Feb. 9, Iowa made the cut.

Recruiting update: Penn State makes final list for three 2023 recruits

Penn State is in the mix for a handful of big targets in the Class of 2023

As we get closer to the 2022 NFL draft, Penn State head coach James Franklin and the rest of the coaching staff have had a busy past few months on the recruiting trail.

The Nittany Lions have skyrocketed up the transfer portal rankings while still having a few players on their radar.

The first player on the radar for Penn State is 2023 four-star linebacker Josiah Trotter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Trotter recently dropped his top five schools, which included the Nittany Lions in the mix.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CaabKVOJgx5/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Trotter had a good amount of offers across the nation. One team to keep an eye on in his top five is Virginia Tech, who now has former Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry as head coach. However, it doesn’t seem too surprising that a talented linebacker like Trotter would have Penn State as one of his final teams. We all know the history of linebackers coming out of State College.

This next recruit would be a massive addition for Penn State. Five-star offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor released his top seven schools earlier this month.

He has a few visits coming up in the next few months, including Penn State at the end of April. The Nittany Lions have an impressive recruiting class of offensive linemen over the next two years, and Proctor would be a blockbuster recruit for them.

The last player released his top 12 in January, with Penn State making the cut. Four-star wide receiver Christian Hamilton has had an impressive high school career and has proven to be both elusive and reliable as a return man. There hasn’t been too much talk about Hamilton and his recruiting process. So it’s likely we won’t hear much for a while.

Both the recruiting train and transfer portal have been very impressive for the Nittany Lions. All three would be nice additions. Their 2022 class has already opened the eyes of coaches and analysts, and the future of Penn State football looks to be very bright.

Auburn offers No. 1 offensive tackle in the country

Tigers offer the nation’s top offensive tackle.

With the Auburn coaching staff needing to bolster the offensive line, Bryan Harsin has extended an offer to the nation’s top offensive tackle. Most of the major recruiting services have Kadyn Proctor of Iowa rated as the No. 1 offensive tackle. His composite ranking puts him in the top five of the entire 2023 class.

Proctor’s offer list is a who’s who of college football. The Alabama Crimson Tide, Iowa Hawkeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, and Penn State Nittany Lions are among his top offers. He currently holds 35 offers from across the country.

Prototypical height, length and size. Lines up at left tackle and currently projects as a future college blind side protector. Good natural athlete. Is a high-end prospect who can play for any school in the country and has the upside and work ethic to play beyond that. – Proctor’s profile from 247Sports

The Tigers will need to seriously upgrade the trenches beyond the 2022 college football season. Last year Austin Troxell allowed 14 quarterback pressures in 381 pass sets. Which equals just 3.6% of pass attempts. The 2022 season will likely end Troxell’s career on the Plains. He joined the 2017 recruiting class.

It could be a long shot but going after players the caliber of Proctor is what this offense and recruiting class need.

Kadyn Proctor, the No. 1 OT in 2023, expresses interest in Oregon Ducks

Kaydn Proctor is the No. 1 OT in 2023, and No. 5 player overall, and he recently showed some love for the Ducks.

As we continue to look ahead to the 2023 recruiting class, it is becoming clear that the Oregon Ducks are making some headway when it comes to impressing the top recruits in the nation.

Most recently, 6-foot-7, 330-pound offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor narrowed his list down to seven schools and listed the Ducks among his top choices. The other schools that Proctor is looking at are Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Iowa.

[lawrence-related id=19794]

Proctor is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 OT in the 2023 class and No. 5 overall player in the class. So far, Proctor has 33 total offers and received an in-home visit from the Wolverines staff last month.

While the Ducks continue to try and fill out their 2022 class with the possible additions of No. 1 rated OT Josh Conerly, and 5-star DE Lebbeus Overton, it is a positive note to see a player with the stature of Proctor setting his eyes on the Ducks.

Penn State among top schools for nation’s top-ranked OT

Kadyn Proctor, the nation’s top-ranked offensive tackle in the Class of 2023, included Penn State among his top seven schools.

Penn State’s efforts to add quality depth to the offensive line in the Class of 2023 has been clear as day. Those efforts to hit the recruiting trail hard for top-notch offensive linemen have helped carve out a top spot among the top schools being considered by one of the nation’s top-ranked offensive tackles, Kadyn Proctor.

Proctor recently revealed the top seven schools he continues to assess in the recruiting process, and it includes Penn State. In an interview with On3 Sports, Proctor said Penn State has been coming on as a serious contender more recently, so it remains to be seen just how realistic it is Penn State can pry the nation’s top-ranked offensive tackle out of the state of Iowa.

Penn State worked their way in, a really good vibe from their coaches and everyone there,” Proctor said to On3. “I have great talks on the phone all the time with them.”

Proctor is ranked as the nation’s No. 9 overall recruit by 247Sports (No. 5 in the composite ranking, and he is the top-ranked offensive tackle by both 247Sports and On3. The Iowa native, who measures 6′-7″ and 330 lb, would certainly be a massive prize for Penn State, which has already received commitments from five-star interior offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier and four-star offensive tackle J’Ven Williams, but the Nittany Lions may have a lot of wor to do to lure Proctor to Happy Valley.

Other schools named in Proctor’s top seven included Iowa, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, and Notre Dame. There are no crystal ball predictions as of yet for Proctor’s eventual decision, but it is pretty obvious that Penn State is in some tough competition for one of the top offensive linemen in the country.

There is no timeline for Proctor’s decision as of now, and there will likely be a god handful of visits to be scheduled before any decision is made. But this is a big one to keep a watchful eye on in the current recruiting cycle for the Class of 2023.

The No. 3 Iowa vs. No. 4 Penn State game is recruiting central for Hawkeye prospects

Iowa is hosting top recruits like Xavier Nwankpa and Kadyn Proctor in the matchup against Penn State.

As far as the 2021 college football goes, the matchup between No. 3 Iowa and No. 4 Penn State will likely knock one team out of the playoff hunt and give the other a massive achievement to tout when the final rankings are being debated.

Looking forward to the future, the Hawkeyes are using this game to host a plethora of recruits, including arguably the best 2022 safety Xavier Nwankpa and arguably the best 2023 offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.

It’s a matchup that could be pivotal for the present and for the next four years.

Des Moines Register reporter Alyssa Hertel spotted several high-level Hawkeye recruits on the sidelines before the game. Here is a list, and follow Hertel for more Hawkeyes recruiting news.

Caldwell set to check out 5-star, nation’s No. 1 OT

Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell will be on hand for a five-star offensive lineman’s game tonight.

The Clemson Insider has learned that Caldwell will see Southeast Polk High School (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) five-star tackle Kadyn Proctor play in his game at Prairie High (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).

Proctor, a 6-foot-8, 335-pound junior, is ranked as the country’s No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2023 class by ESPN, Rivals and the 247Sports Composite, the latter of which considers him the No. 5 overall prospect in his class regardless of position.

In September, Proctor released a top 12 featuring Clemson along with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.

Clemson has not yet offered Proctor, but he explained to TCI recently why he still wanted to include the Tigers in his top group of schools.

“They’re a school that I think could really wrap up my recruitment with an offer,” he said. “So, I kind of just put them in there, and I’ve been talking to the coaches a lot. Coach Caldwell said he was going to try to get down here sometime in October. So, maybe after he watches one of my games, then I’ll get that offer and we can take that a little bit further.”

5-star, nation’s No. 1 OT likes a lot about Clemson

The nation’s top-ranked offensive tackle in the 2023 class recently narrowed down his list of more than 30 scholarship offers.

Earlier this month, Southeast Polk High School (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) five-star Kadyn Proctor released a top 12 featuring Clemson along with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.

The Clemson Insider caught up with Proctor, who feels a huge weight has been lifted off his shoulders now that he has cut down his recruitment to the aforementioned schools.

“It feels like a big relief,” he said. “All 32 schools, plus a little bit more, tried to hit me up all the time from the start of September 1st (when college coaches could start initiating contact with high school juniors). Just thinking about that, trying to get some schools cut off and kind of narrow my recruitment. It’s kind of been a little laxed now.”

According to Proctor, he has been in contact with Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell, and Caldwell is planning to attend one of Proctor’s games next month.

Although the Tigers have not yet offered Proctor, he explained why he still wanted to include Clemson in his top group of schools.

What has Proctor been hearing from Caldwell in general during their conversations?

“Just different things about the football, the schoolwork, trying to get my grades where it’s supposed to be, doing what I need to do on the football field and different things like that,” he said.

Proctor is looking to make his commitment during his senior year in 2022.

“Probably next year after my official visits, sometime like that,” he said.

There is plenty about Clemson that appeals to Proctor when he thinks about the school and football program.

“Their football success, for sure,” he said. “How many people they’ve got in the league, like the NFL factor. Great coaches that I can trust when I talk to. I know they have great facilities, great education and all that too.”

Proctor is listed at 6-foot-7, 330 pounds by 247Sports. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is No. 1 prospect in Iowa, No. 1 offensive tackle nationally and No. 5 overall prospect for the 2023 class regardless of position.
