‘Grossly under-rated;’ 4-star Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey makes case as No. 1 WR in 2023 class

Recruiting analysts are starting to see Jurrion Dickey as in the running for the No. 1 ranked WR in the 2023 class.

If you’re a fan of the Oregon Ducks and someone who is in touch with the recruiting side of things, then the past few weeks have been pretty encouraging.

There’s a certain player in the Ducks’ 2023 recruiting class who has turned heads in the last month and is quickly rising up many analysts’ rankings as one of the best players in the class.

[lawrence-related id=25202]

We’re talking about Jurrion Dickey, a 4-star WR out of Northern California. At the moment, Dickey is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 10 WR and No. 59 player overall in the 2023 class. However, his performance this spring — mainly at the OT7 camp in Las Vegas last week — has made a case for him to rise up those rankings and potentially earn a fifth-star before all is said and done.

According to 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins, Dickey has made a case to be named the No. 1 WR in the class. Here’s what he had to say about the Oregon commit:

We knew East Palo Alto (Calif.) Valley Christian wide out Jurrion Dickey was a very talented athlete but after seeing him last weekend at the Overtime OT7 event in Las Vegas, he deserves to be in the discussion for top receiver prospect in the country.

When you’re rated the No. 88 player nationally in the 247Sports Composite and No. 59 in the Top247, it’s not exactly like you’re being ‘slept on,’ but the reality is, Dickey looks grossly under-rated outside the national top 40.

He’s rated the No. 10 receiver in the country but there may not be another receiver in this class that has his combination of size, length, burst, hands, body control, toughness, and compete level. There really isn’t a weakness in his game no matter how hard you try and nitpick for one.

Of course, we also have an incredibly strong class of receivers in 2023, with Zachariah Branch, Carnell Tate, and Brandon Innis leading the rankings. However, if you were to compare Dickey with any one of those players, Biggins says that he stands up well and can compete with any of them.

Just for the fun of it, if you’re comparing Dickey with those three, he probably has the best all around size/skill set in the group. He’s not as fast as Branch but is five inches taller, 40 pounds heavier and more of a natural pass catcher.

He’s a bigger, better athlete than Innis and looks more explosive than Tate. He’s not just a camp or 7v7 guy either and dominated with the pads on last season, catching 78 balls for 1,300 yards and 19 touchdowns and picked off four passes while playing safety as well.

It’s already impressive that the Ducks got the No. 10 WR in the class to commit to them, but if he starts climbing up those rankings and ultimately becomes a 5-star player before all is said and done, there’s a good chance that Dickey is among the most coveted recruits that Oregon has had in a long time.

4-star Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey continues to turn heads

Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey continues to turn heads this spring, and could potentially earn a 5th-star before all is said and done.

It’s starting to look like Oregon’s 4-star wide receiver commit Jurrion Dickey could turn into a 5-star WR before long.

In the wake of his commitment to the Ducks, Dickey has been impressive this spring, showing out at a number of recruiting showcases across the nation. Most recently, he was at the OT7 in Las Vegas playing with his 7-on-7 team, and he left those in attendance with some high marks, and reason for Oregon fans to get excited.

Here is the takeaway from Adam Gorney, the National Recruiting Director for Rivals.com:

Someone came up to me and said Oregon commit was better than “all those South Florida receivers” as the four-star is playing with the Miami Immortals this weekend. I watched the San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian standout completely dominate his game late on Thursday and I’m starting to become an even bigger believer.

The Oregon wide receiver commit has a filled-out 6-foot-2 frame, he’s fast, sudden, competitive and he makes really tough catches look really easy. There’s also something about his personality where he wants to dominate and show how good he is. Maybe Dickey needs to show a little more over time to be a five-star but currently ranked No. 23 at receiver nationally is way too low.

According to 247Sports, Dickey is currently ranked as the No. 10 WR in the 2023 class, and No. 59 player overall. He stands as one of the marquee members of Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class, which currently is ranked as high as No. 10 in the nation, according to On3.

Should Dickey continue to impress, and even put it all together for his senior high school season this fall, there seems to be a good chance that he will climb up the recruiting rankings and potentially earn a fifth star next to his name.

If that does happen, Oregon fans should be even more excited to get him in Eugene.

WATCH: Oregon 4-star commit Jurrion Dickey shows out, named ‘Alpha Dog’ at recruiting camp

4-star Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey put on a show this past week at a recruiting camp in California.

Oregon Duck fans got some great news a couple of weeks ago when 4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey announced his commitment to come to Eugene to play his college ball.

Dickey, who stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 8 WR in the nation, and No. 59 player overall, but many recruiting analysts believe that he will likely climb in those rankings and potentially earn a 5th star this coming season as a senior.

Those are some big expectations, but this past week Dickey showed why many think it’s possible. At the UC Report Elite Underclassmen Combine in Northern California, Dickey put on an impressive display of what he’s capable of.

The performance was impressive enough for 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins to name Dickey the ‘Alpha Dog’ at the camp, standing above the rest.

“It’s always fun seeing guys like Dickey attend camps when they really have nothing to prove,” Biggins said, via Scorebook Live. “He has already committed to Oregon and the All-American Bowl but wanted to come out just to get in some work and compete. He did all five testing metrics, looked great in position drills and dominated in one-on-ones. When looking at Dickey, it’s tough to find any real weaknesses there. He has a rock-solid 6-2 frame, has both short-area quickness and long speed, is very physical, has strong hands, and plays with a nice edge in his game. He’s a highly competitive kid and is a player we think can come in and make an immediate impact at the next level.”

Music to Oregon fan’s ears. It will be entertaining to watch Dickey’s progression over the next handful of months as he finishes out his high school career and gets prepared to come to Eugene ready to compete. By the looks of it, he should be able to have an instant impact with the Ducks next season.

Oregon gains ground in recruiting rankings after commitment from 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey

The verbal commitment from 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey boosted Oregon up 11 spots in the recruiting rankings.

On Monday evening, the semi-expected news that 4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey was committing to the Oregon Ducks finally came.

Dickey, who stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 8 receiver in the 2023 class, and No. 59 player overall. He has taken multiple visits to Eugene over the past few months, and been predicted by many recruiting experts to land with Oregon for quite a while.

[lawrence-related id=23825]

While his addition to Oregon’s 2023 class is a big one, it still shows how much work needs to be done in this recruiting cycle. Before the verbal commitment from Dickey, the Ducks ranked No. 45 in the national recruiting ranking with commitments from just 4-star CB Cole Martin, and 3-star DL Tevita Pome’e. After Monday night’s news, Oregon jumped up to the No. 34 spot in the nation.

After the heroics from Dan Lanning and his staff allowed the Ducks to climb up to the No. 13 spot in the 2022 recruiting rankings, it may seem a bit underwhelming to have only a top-35 class thus far. However, there is still a ton of time for this coaching staff to get after it and land some major prospects this summer and fall.

Breaking: 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey commits to Oregon Ducks

Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class is taking shape. 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey — the No. 8 WR in 2023 — is going to be a Duck.

[jwplayer 6Go4Ut5x]

A blue-chip player has joined the Oregon Ducks 2023 recruiting class.

On Monday evening, 4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey announced that he will be committing to the Ducks and heading to Eugene to play his college ball. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 8 WR in the 2023 class, and the No. 59 player overall.

Just last week, Dickey released a top-5 that included Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Penn State. However, it has been felt that he was strongly leaning towards the Ducks for some time now, with multiple Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports landing him at Oregon.

The Ducks don’t have a loaded incoming class just yet, but they are still early in the cycle. So far in the 2023 class, Oregon has commitments from 4-star DB Cole Martin, and 3-star DL Tevita Pome’e. With the addition of Dickey, Oregon now jumps up to No. 35 in the national recruiting rankings, just behind Alabama and Arizona.

Oregon lands in top-5 for WR Jurrion Dickey after becoming favorites for commitment

The Oregon Ducks picked up another prediction to land 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey, who announced his top 5 on Tuesday.

Just over a month ago, the Oregon Ducks were given a leg up on the competition when it came to predicting the eventual landing place for four-star athlete Jurrion Dickey, a native of Palo Alto, California.

According to the 247Sports crystal ball, Dickey was likely to pick the Ducks, whom the sixth-ranked athlete in the nation has visited several times. At the time, there was only one prediction for Dickey’s commitment, but on Tuesday afternoon, Oregon picked up a second prediction to land the blue-chip player.

In the 2023 class, Dickey is ranked as the No. 59 overall player. He is a jack of all trades in high school, but likely will play at the wide receiver position at the next level. Earlier this week, he released his top-5 recruiting destinations, keeping Oregon strongly in the mix.

Jurrion Dickey’s Recruiting Profile

Michigan State football makes top-13 for 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey out of California

Michigan State football makes top-13 for 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey out of California

Sure, it can be a bit of a meme at this point how many ‘Top-20’, ‘Top-15’, etc. posts we see from top recruits these days as they narrow down their recruiting process, but it’s still a good sign of a healthy program to see your team included in the process with some of the country’s best players.

On Tuesday, Michigan State football made the top-13 for 2023 4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey out of San Jose, California.

Dickey is the No. 72 ranked player in the 2023 class by 247Sports and their No. 8 ranked player in the state of California.

Oregon Ducks make the cut for elite 2023 WR Jurrion Dickey

The Ducks are firmly in the mix for Jurrion Dickey, and elite 2023 WR from San Jose.

[jwplayer 5vkP2FkJ]

One of the top prospects on the Oregon Ducks’ 2023 recruiting board has narrowed his list a little bit for his decision, and kept the team from Eugene strongly in the mix.

4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect from San Jose, CA, announced his top-13 on Tuesday morning. The Ducks were included alongside schools like USC, Miami, UCLA, Washington, Oregon State, Arizona State, Mississippi State, Washington State, and Arkansas.

Dickey is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 ATH in the 2023 class, and the No. 72 player overall.

Of course, a list of 13 schools may not be considered exclusive, but the Ducks should feel good about where they stand with Dickey. He was on campus a couple of weeks ago on a visit and reportedly was very impressed with how things went.

There is still a long way to go in the recruitment of this elite WR, but the Ducks are in a great position going forward.
