Report: The No. 1 player of the 2026 class will visit Ohio State this weekend

The Buckeyes will entertain the top player is 2026 this weekend

The final Ohio State football home game of the season is this weekend, as the Buckeyes are set to host Minnesota on Senior Day.

Not only will OSU be welcoming in the Golden Gophers for a visit, they’ll also have the top player in the 2026 class in Columbus, USC quarterback commit [autotag]Julian “JuJu” Lewis[/autotag].

The visit was first reported by 247Sports Steve Wiltfong (subscription required), as his father, TC, said they are “looking forward to it.” The family has a good relationship with former Buckeye star C.J. Stroud, who undoubtably has talked up his alma mater. After seeing what he has done so far to start his career with the Houston Texans, Stroud is a very good “recruiter” for Ohio State.

Lewis is ranked as the top overall prospect in the 2026 class by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, and is coming off a season where the threw for 41 touchdowns and just one interception playing high-level competition in Georgia.

If Ohio State is able to flip Lewis, they’d have quite the tandem with current Buckeye wide receiver commit Chris Henry Jr., who is the No. 4 player in the country in their rankings.

Top 2026 prospect and Ohio State target commits to future conference foe

On to the next one for the Buckeyes in 2026 #GoBucks

At one point, it appeared [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] was a contender for 2026 Georgia quarterback [autotag]Julian “JuJu” Lewis[/autotag], but that time has gone.

The sophomore put the Buckeyes in his top eight schools last month, but has made up his mind.

Lewis, the 6-foot, 1-inch, 185-pounder announced his commitment to USC on Tuesday afternoon, effectively shutting his recruitment almost two years ahead of his class’ signing day. He is the top overall prospect in his class on the 247Sports composite.

Now, I’m not saying that the result from his opening weekend’s game helped make his decision, but it certainly could have played a part. Ohio State 2024 quarterback commit [autotag]Air Noland[/autotag] went head-to-head with Lewis, and the future Buckeye came out on top.

The good news is that head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has plenty of time to reset his recruiting board and find another quarterback for the 2026 class to go with the only current commit, wide receiver Chris Henry Jr.
