Jules Bernard dominates in NBA summer league game

Jules with a nice showing.

More news from former UCLA Bruins basketball players this summer. Jules Bernard had a big game for the Washington Wizards, as they beat the Sacramento Kings last week.

Bernard scored a game-high 20 points to guide Washington 2-2 for the summer. The 24-year-old from Los Angeles is in the National Basketball Association after being undrafted following his 2018-2022 career with the Bruins.

He spent the 2022 season with the Motor City Cruise, and at the end of the 2023 season, he played for the Capital City Go-Go. As a member of the UCLA Bruins, he played in 130 games, which included 65 starts. He scored 9.2 points per game, with 12.8 per game his senior season.

Taylor Funk added 12 points, including three made shots from downtown. For the Kings, Bookie Ellis led the way with 15 points.

The NBA Summer League continues Saturday and Sunday this weekend, and then will wrap up at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on Monday July 22nd.

Former Bruin Jules Bernard drops triple-double in G-League

Jules Bernard keeps impressing.

Despite a lost season for the Washington Wizards, one former UCLA Bruin has quickly emerged as a bright spot in the District of Columbia.ย Jules Bernard, a graduate of UCLA in 2022, turned some heads for their G-League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.ย On Tuesday, he dropped his first triple-double for the Go-Go, just weeks after scoring a career-high for the Wizards.ย

Scoring 23 points, adding 13 assists, and 10 rebounds, Bernard was active all over the floor all night in the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Despite losing to the Long Island Nets 118-120, Bernard made his mark in the Go Go’s final game of the season and likely an impression on the Wizards’ organization as a whole.ย

Though the Wizards rival the Detroit Pistons for the title of “worst team in the NBA,” Bernard’s play proves he could be a part of their young core.

With an NBA Draft Lottery pick soon to follow, Bernard could make the most of his undrafted journey with Washington as a role player or, if he shows out for the Wizards’ final few games, could attract the attention of other teams looking to add young depth.

Former Bruin Jules Bernard scores career-high for Wizards

Jules Bernard had a career game for the Wizards.

A former UCLA Bruin set a new career-high on Tuesday night.

In the losing effort to the Houston Rockets 137-114, Jules Bernard logged 19 minutes, scored 16 points, recorded four assists, and brought in two rebounds. Seeing an increased workload for the Washington Wizards as they continue to decay this season, with the NBA’s worst record, Bernard is the beneficiary.

Going undrafted in 2022, Bernard played on both the Pistons and Wizards G-League teams before signing a two-way contract with Washington. At UCLA, Bernard put up impressive numbers and logged a total of 130 games for the Bruins in four seasons with the team from 2018-2022.

Though Bernard would likely prefer to play for a contender, for an undrafted player, getting minutes on a poor team can help him improve his game and show out for other franchises.

With a track record of playing tons of games in college, Bernard’s durability and stick-to-itiveness could help him have a long career in the NBA.

Lakers draft prospect profile: Jules Bernard

Our look at University of California, Los Angeles swingman Jules Bernard.

Just because the Los Angeles Lakers do not have a pick in the upcoming NBA draft doesn’t mean they’re not doing their due diligence on draft prospects.

The team is reportedly interested in acquiring a second-round pick, and many expect it to also try to sign at least one undrafted player as a free agent.

One player the Lakers recently brought in for a workout is Jules Bernard, a guard at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Bernard played a full four seasons for the Bruins, and at 6-foot-7, he can play both the shooting guard and small forward positions.
