Four-Star Defensive End Jospeh Jonah-Ajonye continues to trend to Oklahoma

Oklahoma Sooners pick up another prediction to land four-star DL Joseph Jonah-Ajonye. This time from Rivals’ Nick Harris.

Since last week, the Oklahoma Sooners have become a big-time player in the recruitment of four-star defensive tackle Joseph Jonah-Ajonye. Several predictions have favored the Oklahoma Sooners. Add Rivals national recruiting analyst Nick Harris to the list of people who believe Jonah-Ajonye will end up a Sooner.

Harris issued a FutureCast yesterday, keeping the Sooners at the forefront of Jonah-Ajoney’s recruitment.

The Sooners are contending with Texas A&M, Texas, and Texas Tech for Ajonye’s services. He’s exactly what Brent Venables wants on the Sooner defensive line because of his size and athleticism.

Joseph Jonah-Ajonye made the trip to Norman in early March and then again for the Oklahoma Sooners spring game.

He’s 6-foot-5 and weighs 260 lbs., and will only get bigger once he sets foot on campus and participates in a collegiate strength and conditioning program.

He’s coming out of Oak Ridge high school in Conroe, Texas, and was recruited by Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Todd Bates.

He’s got a ton of potential coming out of high school and is exactly the type of big body that would dominate an opposing offensive line in a Brent Venables style of defense.

Sooners separating from the pack for 2024 four-star DL Joseph Jonah-Ajonye

Oklahoma continues to lead the pack for 2024 DL prospect Joseph Jonah-Ajonye.

Oklahoma’s 2023 spring game will have a lasting impact across multiple recruiting classes. For the immediate future, the [autotag]2024 recruiting class[/autotag] is affected the most as they draw closer and closer to their signing days.

Recruitments for all 2024 prospects seem to be a hitting new gear as summer nears and the time for official visits starts. Oklahoma has gained considerable steam on the recruiting trail for 2024. They’ve picked up five commitments since March 25 and could have several more coming before the end of April.

While he hasn’t made any announcements about a commitment date, 2024 four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Joseph Jonah-Ajonye[/autotag] has been trending Oklahoma’s way the last few days, and the momentum hasn’t stopped.

Fresh off his visit to Norman for the spring game, the connection between Jonah-Ajonye and Oklahoma hasn’t slowed down. Monday morning saw the Sooners earn yet another recruiting prediction in Oklahoma’s direction.

The latest prediction is a Rivals FutureCast coming from Texas A&M insider Landyn Rosow. Texas A&M had the early edge for Jonah-Ajonye, but things have since tapered off while coaches Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis have pushed Oklahoma out in front.

Oklahoma’s defensive line haul in 2024 could range from four-to-six commitments, and Jonah-Ajonye is firmly one of the names that stand strongly in play should he commit.

Jonah-Ajonye looks like a flexible inside-outside player should he continue to add to his already 6-foot-5 frame. Oklahoma will continue to push for the talented four-star Texan. Other teams hot on his heels include Texas and Texas Tech.

Recruits react on social media to spring game weekend with the Oklahoma Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners hosted a number of prospects during their spring game weekend and here are some of their reactions from the weekend.

What a weekend it was at the Oklahoma Sooners’ spring game. A fantastic product was on display on Owen Field as the Sooners hosted a number of former letter winners and a host of potential Sooners for spring game weekend.

The spring game has turned into a celebration of sorts under Brent Venables, who has taken time each of these first two years to address the fans in attendance and honor the Sooners of the past while putting on a show for the prospects in for an unofficial visit.

As they did a year ago, the Sooners put their best foot forward and picked up momentum on the recruiting trail. In particular, the Sooners made progress in their pursuit of 2024 athlete Michael Boganowski.

It was another chance for the Sooners to make some headway in their recruitment of five-star defensive tackle [autotag]David Stone[/autotag]. Stone, who likely will not commit for some time, was among those in attendance, joining fellow blue-chip defensive linemen for the 2024 class, Nigel Smith and Joseph Jonah-Ajonye.

With three commitments last week and five overall in the 2024 class, the dominoes are tumbling for Oklahoma as it looks to replicate its success from the 2023 cycle.

After hosting prospects over the next four recruiting cycles, here’s a look at how a number of recruits reacted to their time in Norman with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Sooners beginning to take lead in recruitment for 2024 four-star DL Joseph Jonah-Ayonje

.Oklahoma continues to widen their net for defensive line prospects and now lead for 2024 four-star defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye.

Oklahoma continues to see its [autotag]2024 recruiting[/autotag] stock pick up major momentum in April. It started with the commitment of four-star QB Michael Hawkins. On Monday evening, it continued with three-star wide receiver KJ Daniels’ commitment.

Mixed in between the commitments, the Sooners have been on the receiving end of a bevy of predictions for several prospects.

The latest prospect joining that group was 2024 defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye.

Ajonye, a composite four-star on 247Sports, hails from Conroe, Texas. He plays a versatile game, lining up inside and outside for his high school team. He looks like he could have the ability to bulk up and play inside as a 3-technique defensive tackle in his college years or outside and play a strong-side defensive end position.

Oklahoma received three projections from OUInsider’s Parker Thune and Brandon Drumm to go along with a prediction from On3 recruiting maven Sam Spiegelman on Thursday.

Once considered a Texas A&M lean, the tide has shifted significantly to favor the Crimson & Cream.

Oklahoma has no committed defensive linemen and awaits decisions from their top two targets, [autotag]Williams Nwaneri[/autotag] and [autotag]David Stone[/autotag]. A possible commitment from Ajonye would not take the Sooners out of the running for either top-10 player.

Ajonye looks like a rapid riser in recruiting rankings, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see such a talented player end up as a consensus top-75 prospect.
