2024 NFL Draft: Top QB performances from week 10 of college football

As we inch towards the college football postseason, these draft-eligible quarterbacks are showing why they deserve your attention.

Another week has passed and we are getting so close to the college postseason.

That means that draft-eligible quarterbacks are putting their best foot forward, trying to lead their team to either the College Football Playoff or a premier New Year’s Six bowl game.

In this exercise, we list out a few quarterbacks to watch for Minnesota Vikings fans as we draw closer to the pre-draft process.

2024 NFL Draft: Top QB performances from week 9 of college football

Week 9 of the college football season gave us some phenomenal performances from draft-eligible quarterbacks.

This last week has been rough for Minnesota Vikings fans at the quarterback position. Losing Kirk Cousins for the season is a huge blow for a season that had taken a turn for the better after a crucial win against the San Francisco 49ers.

There are many ways that the Vikings can go about the quarterback position, most of which are quick fixes. But this franchise is looking for the next face. With Cousins being out for the season, Minnesota must start looking toward the future. If it’s not fifth-round draft pick Jaren Hall, which is probable, then Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will be looking to next year’s draft for the next franchise guy.

In this exercise, we will look at some of the best performances from draft-eligible quarterbacks from the last weekend of college football.

2024 NFL Draft: Top college QB performances in week 8

These 2024 quarterback prospects stood out in week 8 of the college football season

Another week of college football, another week of top performances from top 2024 NFL quarterback prospects.

After a stellar performance from Kirk Cousins on Monday Night Football, you may be thinking “Why are we still looking at quarterbacks?”

Despite the great performance, there are still questions surrounding the quarterback position past this season.

One of the better ways to mitigate those questions is to find your guy in the draft next April.

The only problem is that this week’s performances from top draft prospects were not necessarily noteworthy. There were a few disappointing performances from top names.

There were also some players who saw their stock rise with much-needed solid to great showings.

Having that fact coincide with arguably Kirk’s best game as a Viking will make things difficult as we inch closer to a pivotal decision at the most important position in the sport.

But we will take a deeper look into the performances from this last weekend of the top 2024 NFL draft prospects.

2024 NFL Draft: Quarterbacks to watch for Week 8 of college football

From Caleb Williams to Jordan Travis, keep your eyes on these 2024 NFL draft prospects during week 8 of college football

There is nothing on Earth like college football.

Unbelievable upsets, fans storming the field, highlights that can only come from 18-to-22-year-olds that have no regard for their well-being. It’s a level of chaos befitting of taking up an entire Saturday.

Amidst all that chaos, there are those diamonds that can help elevate an NFL team to the next level. Most notably at the quarterback position.

Today, we discuss draft-eligible quarterbacks that are looking to take over the reigns of an NFL team in the next year.

Duke seeks first ever win over Florida State in ACC game of the week

The Seminoles and Blue Devils are two of the last three ACC teams without a conference loss with title game positioning on the line.

We’re only four weeks into conference play in the ACC, but the standings seem to already be settling in. After Clemson‘s losses and Louisville’s upset defeat at the hands of Pittsburgh last weekend, there seem to be three teams with their eyes on the conference title game.

Florida State offered a statement 41-3 victory over Syracuse last weekend, a warning shot to the rest of the conference that the path to any trophies runs through the Seminoles.

But North Carolina took down Miami comfortably behind three Tez Walker receiving touchdowns. The Tar Heels only have one more ranked matchup ahead of them on the schedule, a date with Duke in four weeks.

Where do the Blue Devils fit in in all this? They remain unblemished through two conference games, but they’re traveling to Florida to play the Seminoles, a team they’ve never beaten in 19 tries. When you take a closer look at that record, however, the two haven’t clashed since Mike Elko took over the Duke program. Can he do something none of his predecessors accomplished?

Here are the games to watch in the ACC this week, from the contenders to those fighting for a bowl game.

ACC Week 7 Wrap Up: North Carolina inches closer to FSU in FPI standings

The Seminoles and Tar Heels have separated themselves as the best in the ACC after two dominant victories on Saturday.

With each passing week, it seems Florida State and North Carolina are more set to collide for the ACC title game.

The Seminoles, with playoff expectations ever since a season-opening win over LSU, punished Syracuse for a 41-3 victory. The Tar Heels built a three-score lead over Miami before they put the finishing touches on a 10-point victory.

ESPN FPI now thinks there’s roughly an 87.5% chance one of those two walks away with the conference title, especially in light of Louisville’s upset loss to Pittsburgh.

Elsewhere in the conference, Duke was without quarterback Riley Leonard, the Blue Devils’ leading rusher entering Week 7, for its game against N.C. State. Backup Henry Belin IV responded by just leading the conference in QBR over the weekend.

Here’s how the teams and quarterbacks of the ACC stack up by record, FPI, and QBR after seven weeks.

Amidst all the chaos, a select few quarterbacks rose to the occasion to lead their respective offenses to outstanding performances. We use this exercise to list the best ones from last weekend for draft-eligible quarterbacks.

North Carolina, Louisville establish themselves in ACC, per FPI

After huge wins this weekend, both North Carolina and Louisville vaulted up ESPN’s FPI rankings.

Florida State remains atop the ACC, and ESPN FPI still gives the Seminoles slightly better than a coin flip’s chance to walk away with the conference crown. But the ladder behind them jumbled quite a bit in Week 6.

North Carolina, behind a sterling performance from quarterback phenom Drake Maye, enforced their will upon Syracuse, 40-7, a worse beatdown than Clemson put on the Orange the week before. Louisville threw their hat into the ring with a 33-20 upset of Notre Dame.

Miami, whom FPI previously favored as the second-best team in the conference, suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in years when their refusal to kneel out the clock led to an answered prayer for Georgia Tech.

Here’s how ESPN’s models think the ACC stands after Week 6.

Team Record Conference Record FPI (National Rank) Win Out % Win Conference % Make Playoff %
Florida State Seminoles 5-0 3-0 19.6 (10th) 18.8% 52.0% 25.7%
North Carolina Tar Heels 5-0 2-0 15.5 (16th) 6.2% 21.8% 7.3%
Clemson Tigers 4-2 2-2 14.5 (18th) 5.4% 1.6%
Miami Hurricanes 4-1 0-1 14.1 (19th) 1.7% 2.9% 0.6%
Louisville Cardinals 6-0 3-0 12.0 (21st) 4.4% 15.8% 3.3%
Duke Blue Devils 4-1 1-0 11.0 (25th) 0.7% 5.2% 0.3%
Syracuse Orange 4-2 0-2 9.0 (28th) 4.9% 0.2%
NC State Wolfpack 4-2 1-1 2.7 (51st) 0.1% 0.1%
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 3-3 2-1 2.1 (55th) 0.1% 0.2%
Pittsburgh Panthers 1-4 0-2 1.1 (57th) 0.0%
Wake Forest Demon Deacons 3-2 0-2 0.7 (59th) 0.0%
Virginia Tech Hokies 2-4 1-1 -1.2 (72) 0.2% 0.1%
Boston College Eagles 3-3 1-2 -5.1 (89) 0.1%
Virginia Cavaliers 1-5 0-2 -6.9 (96) 0.0%

Miami lingering in FSU’s rearview mirror, per FPI

The Seminoles have a 50.8% chance to win the ACC, according to FPI, but they’re only 5 spots above Miami in the model’s rankings.

Through four games, Florida State has passed each test on its schedule. They took care of LSU by multiple scores on a neutral site, and they beat Clemson in Death Valley for the first time since 2013.

Seminole fans surely hope that’s not the last time they hear the phrase “for the first time since 2013” this season, but just because they vanquished Dabo Swinney doesn’t mean they should start engraving their names on the ACC trophy. At least, ESPN FPI doesn’t think so.

The Seminoles have finally climbed above a 50% chance to win the conference this week, but the models have the Seminoles as the 10th-best team in the country. Their in-state rivalry, the Miami Hurricanes, remain undefeated and sit just 15th, maybe more of a threat than FSU fans anticipate.

Here’s how ESPN’s models have the ACC after Week 5.

Team Record Conference Record FPI (National Rank) Win Conference % Make Playoff %
Florida State Seminoles 4-0 2-0 19.9 (10th) 50.8% 27.5%
Miami Hurricanes 4-0 0-0 16.7 (15th) 18.2% 9.4%
Clemson Tigers 3-2 1-2 16.1 (17th) 2.0% 0.2%
North Carolina Tar Heels 4-0 1-0 12.8 (21st) 8.9% 2.7%
Syracuse Orange 4-1 0-1 12.0 (22nd) 2.6% 0.4%
Duke Blue Devils 4-1 1-0 11.4 (23rd) 7.1% 0.6%
Louisville Cardinals 5-0 3-0 10.3 (27th) 10.1% 0.7%
North Carolina State Wolfpack 3-2 1-1 2.2 (52nd) 0.1%
Pittsburgh Panthers 1-4 0-2 0.9 (58th)
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 2-3 1-1 -0.7 (67th)
Wake Forest Demon Deacons 3-1 0-1 -0.9 (70th)
Virginia Tech Hokies 2-3 1-0 -1.6 (71st) 0.1%
Boston College Eagles 2-3 1-2 -6.6 (94th)
Virginia Cavaliers 0-5 0-2 -7.2 (97th)
