9 early contenders for Cowboys first-round draft pick at WR, OC, OT

The defense might be the side of the ball that needs more help, but early in the process, the offense looks to be a better fit for the first-round selection. | From @cdpiglet

It is hard to knock the talent the Dallas Cowboys front office accumulated for the 2023 season, but the draft class was certainly a letdown. Dallas went into the playoffs as the second seed, and their roster was loaded with talent despite a couple of significant injuries. They had a league-high nine All-Pro players and 10 Pro Bowl players.

None of those players, or even the two tiers below them of key players and solid contributors, were from the draft class. For a team that relies on the amateur haul, another draft like that could set the franchise back a long way. Dallas’ pick at 24 needs to play a significant role in the 2024 season for Dallas.

The Cowboys could find that by selecting a wide receiver or offensive lineman with this pick. The defense needs young playmakers, but at this particular time, the fit is more on the offensive end. The wide receiver and offensive line positions are loaded enough that a high-level prospect could fall into their lap at 24.

10 standouts from Day 2 at the Senior Bowl

Good news for Washington: The offensive line class looks strong at the Senior Bowl.

The Washington Commanders have yet to hire a head coach, but they can take a big step forward with three of the top 40 picks in the 2024 NFL draft, including No. 2 overall.

That work to improve the roster begins this week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. General manager Adam Peters is in Mobile along with others in Washington’s scouting department to check out some of the best prospects at the Senior Bowl. And with needs throughout the roster, the Commanders could find plenty of help.

Several prospects have stood out through two days of practice, including multiple offensive linemen. Washington could be searching for as many as four new starters on the offensive line in 2024, and there are numerous day-one starters in Mobile.

Taliese Fuaga (Oregon State), Jackson Powers-Johnson (Oregon), Tyler Guyton (Oklahoma) and Jordan Morgan (Arizona) are just some of the offensive linemen to make a case for being selected in the first round.

We’re only halfway through the week, but the offensive line is clearly the strongest group at the Senior Bowl.

Who else impressed on Wednesday? From those present in Mobile, here are 10 standouts from the second day of practice.

Full 7-round 2024 NFL mock draft: Blockbuster trade helps Patriots address major needs

The Patriots swing a blockbuster trade early to rebuild their offense the right way in this 2024 NFL mock draft

Everyone is assuming the New England Patriots take a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. That appears to be the most likely scenario, but there’s also the possibility the team goes in the roster building direction before reaching for a new signal-caller.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Caleb Williams, Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels. Any rookie quarterback is going to have a rough go under center for a Patriots team severely lacking in offensive talent at receiver and on the offensive line.

The Patriots might want to avoid another Mac Jones situation by simply focusing their resources at other positions, while utilizing a bridge quarterback for the time being. Whether that bridge quarterback is Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe or an experienced veteran, like Russell Wilson or Kirk Cousins, is an argument for another day.

But this mock draft explores the possibility of a trade down by New England to accumulate more picks and fix other trouble spots on their roster. Here’s an updated full seven-round 2024 NFL mock draft for the Patriots:

List of National team offensive linemen at 2024 Senior Bowl

With offensive line a major need for the Jets this offseason, this group could be heavily focused on by general manager Joe Douglas and company. A good week in Mobile for these guys will go a long way toward deciding where and when they will ultimately get drafted.

Included in this group is a name already tagged as potential option at No. 10 for the Jets, Oregon State offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga. He has a chance to really stand out this week and solidify his standing among the top offensive tackles in this class.

Coaching the National team offensive line this year are Chris Cook of the Cardinals and Jim Dray of the Bears.

2024 NFL mock draft roundup: Ravens reload at cornerback and offensive tackle

We’re looking at the 2024 NFL mock draft roundups and the Baltimore Ravens are projected to land a cornerback and offensive tackle

The Baltimore Ravens are 14-4 and one game away from a Super Bowl appearance after a 34-10 win over the Texans in the divisional round.

Even with Lamar Jackson and company roaring through the playoff field, it’s never too early for a look ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft.

Baltimore currently has about $13,658,828 in salary cap space per Over The Cap, and they’re spending about $120+ million plus on the offensive side of the football.

The Ravens also have 30 players scheduled to hit free agency, and some tough decisions will be made regarding who returns to Baltimore.

With the Reese’s Senior Bowl fast approaching and draft coverage set to begin, we’re looking at an updated mock draft roundup for AFC Championship week.

Full 7-round 2024 NFL mock draft: Patriots trade up to No. 1 overall in post-Bill Belichick rebuild

The Patriots get aggressive and trade up to No. 1 overall in this full seven-round 2024 NFL mock draft

The New England Patriots parted ways with the greatest coach in NFL history, signaling a much-needed reboot last week.

They are slated to pick at No. 3 in the 2024 NFL draft, which puts them only two spots away from the top of the board and complete control of their first-round pick. Quarterback is the clear direction for the Patriots, unless they want to continue playing a bad game of tag between Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones.

They could certainly leave things up to chance and get their guy at No. 3, but they’d run the risk of missing out on Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, who are widely regarded as the top-two options at the quarterback position. Or, they could start the post-Belichick rebuild off with a bang by being aggressive and trading up to get their guy.

That’s what happens in this mock draft with the Patriots trading their 2024 first-round pick, 2024 third-rounder and 2025 first-rounder to the Chicago Bears for the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

2024 NFL mock draft: Ravens reload in the trenches with depth at edge rusher

We’re doing a 2024 NFL mock draft roundup, and the Baltimore Ravens are projected to add depth at defensive tackle

The Baltimore Ravens are 13-4 and set to enjoy a week of rest after claiming the No. 1 seed in the AFC and a much-needed first-round bye.

Even with Lamar Jackson and company ready to roar into the playoffs, it’s never too early for a look ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft.

Baltimore currently has about $19,485,086 in salary cap space per Over The Cap, and they’re spending about $120+ million plus on the offensive side of the football.

The Ravens also have 27 players scheduled to hit free agency, and some tough decisions will be made regarding who returns to Baltimore.

With the Reese’s Senior Bowl fast approaching and draft coverage set to begin, we’re looking at an updated mock draft roundup for Wild Card Weekend.

New mock draft would be perfect scenario for the Commanders

In this four-round mock draft, the Commanders would fill a lot of holes.

We’ve learned this season that the Washington Commanders have a lot of holes. We knew heading into the season that the offensive line and the quarterback positions were huge question marks.

The Commanders created more holes at the NFL trade deadline by trading defensive ends Montez Sweat and Chase Young. However, in return, Washington received a second-round pick and a third-round selection, giving the Commanders five picks in the first three rounds of the 2024 NFL draft.

With a new regime likely coming in less than two weeks and Washington up to No. 3 in the 2024 NFL draft, it’s time for mock draft season.

Pro Football Focus recently did a four-round mock draft, giving the Commanders six picks. This would be a haul for Washington, adding help at multiple key positions, including the offensive line.

Let’s examine PFF’s four-round mock draft.

5 Arizona Wildcats to know ahead of the Valero Alamo Bowl

Taking a look at five Arizona Wildcats to know as Oklahoma prepares for the Valero Alamo Bowl.

Oklahoma’s final game of the 2023 season will see them return to San Antonio for the second time in three years. The last time the Sooners were there, they were coached by legendary Oklahoma coach [autotag]Bob Stoops[/autotag]. Brent Venables will wrap up his second campaign as the head man at Oklahoma, returning to San Antonio to take on the Arizona Wildcats, led by head coach Jedd Fisch.

This season has been a much better experience than his inaugural one, and Venables will look for his first bowl win as a head coach. To get that, the Sooners will have to take down a tough Arizona team that finished 9-3 and third in an ultra-competitive Pac-12. Fisch has a hungry team that certainly is talented, with 13 players receiving all-conference honors.

Oklahoma would be wise to check their egos at the door and remain humble. Arizona won’t roll over, and if the Sooners approach this game taking the Wildcats lightly, they may get run off the field.

Arizona has a surplus of impact upperclassmen coupled with Pac-12 Freshman of the Year quarterback Noah Fifita.

Let’s look at Arizona and break down some key Wildcats ahead of Thursday’s Alamo Bowl.
