Ohio State running back commit flips from Ohio State to Miami (FL)

Another one gets away at the eleventh hour. #GoBucks

Head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State football program got some more bad news on the recruiting front on Monday when four-star running back, Jordan Lyle, flipped his verbal commitment from the Buckeyes to the Miami Hurricanes.

Lyle is listed as the No. 11 running back and 145th overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and had been committed to the OSU since April

Miami employed the full-court press on the Fort Lauderdale native as of late and it seems to have landed. Perhaps the pull of being close to home, or NIL money had something to do with it, but either way, the Buckeyes are now out in the cold when it comes to one of its commits in the backfield.

With the news, Ohio State is suddenly looking thin at the running back position. Miyan Williams has already declared his intentions to enter the NFL draft, TreVeyon Henderson is likely to join him barring a shocker, and Chip Trayanum and Evan Pryor have both been sucked in and out of the transfer portal to other destinations.

What the Buckeyes do at the position will be interesting, and hopefully there are no other surprises with four-star James Peoples, and three-star, Sam Williams-Dixon who have also pledged to commit verbally.

WATCH: Ohio State running back commit highlight reel touchdown run

Check out the future Buckeye rip off a huge touchdown run. #GoBucks

Ohio State running back commit Jordan Lyle produced a very exciting highlight reel touchdown run in his high school football game Friday night.

The star running back attends St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida. The four-star recruit is the No. 13 running back nationally on the 247Sports composite.

Lyle put St. Thomas Aquinas on the board first in its 42-0 victory with a long touchdown run that displayed great elusiveness and contact balance. He bounced off multiple defenders en route to the end zone.

Buckeye fans should be excited for the future with Lyle. He has many attributes you want in a running back, including great burst, acceleration, long speed to create long runs and the contact balance to break tackles.

We’ll continue to keep tabs on what Lyle and other Ohio State commitments are doing at the prep level and share interesting highlights and notes with you until these players sign and become official Buckeyes.

Scout’s view: What to expect from Ohio State’s newest commit, running back Jordan Lyle

The Buckeyes got a good one in Lyle #GoBucks

Already with two commitments at running back in the 2024 recruiting class, it didn’t seem like [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] was going to take another.

Jordan Lyle had other ideas and committed to the Buckeyes yesterday. The 6-foot,180-pound back is among the top player in the country, the No. 27 at his position and 320th overall according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Lyle had an extremely impressive offer list which included Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, and others. It’s a big recruiting win for head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag], as he once again goes into a powerhouse recruiting state, Florida, and gets a great player.

BOOM! Ohio State receives commitment from 4-star running back

BOOM! Lyle makes it three running backs in the 2024 class. #GoBucks

There was a lot of news involving Ohio State on Saturday. The NFL draft came to a conclusion with a few Buckeyes hearing their names called throughout the seven rounds, but that wasn’t all.

Ohio State received news of a pretty high-profile transfer from Notre Dame  (a legacy commit in fact) and gained a commitment from four-star running back Jordan Lyle for the 2024 class.

Out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the 6-foot, 180-pounder is ranked as the No. 27 running back and 320th overall prospect in the class on the 247Sports composite, but don’t be surprised if that rises in the coming months.

Lyles is the third running back and the 13th commitment in the 2024 cycle, a class that is No. 2 on the 247Sports team composite just behind Michigan.

Alabama listed in top 5 for 2024 RB Jordan Lyle

2024 running back Jordan Lyle released his top schools list on Monday evening. Lyle listed Alabama as a finalist to land his commitment.

Running back Jordan Lyle of the 2024 class released his top schools on Monday afternoon. Alabama was listed as one of the finalists to land his commitment.

Lyle plays for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. That is the same school that Alabama outside linebacker Dallas Turner once played for.

As a junior, Lyle had 91 carries for 1,015 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He helped lead the Raiders offense last season en route to its 14th state championship and fourth consecutive title victory.

Lyle has taken unofficial visits to Miami, Florida State, Ohio State, and Alabama.

2024 RB Jordan Lyle receives offer from Alabama

Alabama has landed several players from St. Thomas Aquinas in the past like Jordan Battle and Dallas Turner. Now, they are recruiting a highly-ranked 2024 running back.

Over the years, the Alabama coaching staff has been able to recruit within the state of Florida at an elite level. More specifically, they have landed prospects in the Miami area. Recently, the Tide offered 2024 running back Jordan Lyle out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale.

Lyle plays for the same high school that Jordan Battle, Braylen Ingraham, and Dallas Turner once played for. If that is any indication, it is that Alabama will continue to pursue top prospects from that school.

As for Lyle, he is highly rated on every recruiting circuit. He possesses a great build at six feet tall, and 180 pounds. Lyle has a great speed out of the backfield and displays his raw athleticism in the open field making defenders look out of sync.
