‘I see Texas on the rise’ D’Antre Robinson picks Longhorns over 59 other offers

Robinson’s other finalists were Alabama, Florida and Ohio State.

One of the most popular recruits in the 2024 cycle was Jones (Fla.) four-star defensive lineman D’antre Robinson.

Robinson had offers from 60 different college programs around the country, but in the end, he committed to Texas as expected, making the news official last week.

When asked why he chose Texas over nearly dozens of other schools, Robinson (6-foot-4, 315 pounds) said he sees this as a program on the rise, per Chad Simmons at On3.

“I see Texas on the rise under Coach Sark… In the near future, Texas is going to be a top SEC school. Texas is getting great recruiting classes, the coaches are great and I am definitely excited about my future at Texas. I feel like this will be one of the best decisions I make in my life.”

Robinson’s other finalists were Alabama, Florida and Ohio State.

The Longhorns’ class of 2024 now has 15 members. This group ranks No. 20 in the nation.

Both Texas and Oklahoma will be leaving the Big 12 conference in 2024 and joining the SEC.

Nowhere is that more apparent than in the popularity of Jones (Fla.) four-star defensive tackle D’Antre Robinson.

Long underrated and overlooked, defensive tackles are now considered a premium position for the modern game. Programs that recognize how valuable interior pressure can be are taking advantage and pumping up their recruiting efforts at this position.

Nowhere is that more apparent than in the popularity of Jones (Fla.) four-star defensive tackle D’Antre Robinson, who already has offers from an incredible 61 programs.

That’s a ton of competition. However, according to Adam Gorney, National Recruiting Director at Rivals, Texas is way out in front.

“A top 10 of Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Ohio State, Georgia, Maryland, Texas, Colorado, Texas A&M and Florida has emerged for the four-star defensive tackle from Orlando (Fla.) Jones but it feels like the Longhorns are way out in front for his commitment.”

That aligns with On3’s prediction model, which has the Longhorns as the heavy favorite to get his commitment at 94%.

Robinson (6-foot-4, 300 pounds) is ranked 36th among defensive linemen, No. 50 overall in Florida and No. 353 nationally in his class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
