Michigan State basketball offers 2026 Saline PG

MSU has extended an offer to an in-state PG with U of M connections:

Michigan State basketball has expanded their recruiting board in the class of 2026, making the move to offer an in-state point guard. Jonathan Sanderson was the recipient of the offer, a 6-foot-2, 170 pound guard from Saline High School.

Sanderson is the son of former Michigan strength and conditioning coach Jon Sanderson, which makes sense that Saddi Washington is taking charge in this recruitment.

Sanderson is ranked as a top-50 player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Rutgers basketball recruit Jonathan Sanderson is a true scorer.

Jonathan Sanderson, offered recently by Rutgers basketball, is one of the most prolific scorers in the nation. The class of 2026 guard can score from anywhere on the court, with a range that is college-ready.

Rutgers offered Sanderson over the weekend. The 6-foot-2 point guard from Saline (Saline, Michigan) is the No. 53 player in the nation according to 247Sports. 

He took an unofficial visit to Indiana last summer.

Sanderson’s offer list includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Michigan among others.

As a scorer, Sanderson has incredible range but is multiple in terms of how he puts the ball in the basket. He has the ability to slash to the hoop but also can score from three-point range.

Last month, he scored 44 points in a game where his team clinched a conference title. He followed it up with 41 points in his next outing for Saline. Included in the 41 points was an incredible buzzer-beater:

Rutgers recently topped off their 2024 class with the signing of five-star guard Dylan Harper. Their class features four recruits ranked as four-stars by ESPN.

One player that is starting to generate big buzz, despite being in the future 2026 recruiting class, is Jonathan Sanderson, the 6-foot-2 point guard from Saline (Mich.).

If that name sounds familiar, it’s because the player Sanderson is the son of Michigan basketball’s longtime strength and conditioning coach Jon Sanderson, who has been known for transforming the team behind the scenes.

The younger Sanderson who is known as a prolific scorer already had offers from Illinois and Iowa. On Sunday, he announced via Twitter that his father’s school (career-wise), Michigan basketball, has extended him an offer to stay near Ann Arbor and become a Wolverine.

The elder Sanderson originally played college ball at rival Ohio State, but has become a household name in Ann Arbor with ‘Camp Sanderson,’ where he completely transforms younger players into viable NBA-level players through the weight room.
