Solid puns aside, the commercial’s creative looks to highlight the vital issue of food waste at home, encouraging people to do more with what’s in their fridge and ‘Make Taste, Not Waste.’

It’s a continued effort by Hellmann’s, one that brings a focus to Super Bowl Sunday—the second most wasteful food day of the year in the U.S., trailing only Thanksgiving—with past creative efforts toward the overall campaign having looked to big-name talents like Amy Schumer and Pete Davidson.

This time, the brand likes the star-power combo (albeit a shrunken iteration) to help headline the messaging when the curtain lifts on advertising’s biggest stage on February 12.

“We’re so excited to have award-winning actors Jon Hamm and Brie Larson star in our Big Game commercial this year,” said Ben Crook, Vice President/GM, Dressings & Condiments (NA) at Unilever. “With names like Hamm and Brie, there are no better partners to help us inspire viewers to think creatively about the ingredients found in the fridge at a moment like the Big Game, the second most wasteful food day of the year in the U.S.”

Can the USMNT win the World Cup? Santa Hamm believes

The USMNT winning a World Cup may be a tough ask, even for Santa

Santa Claus gets plenty of big asks around this time of year, but the U.S. men’s national team winning a World Cup? That may be one of his toughest challenges.

In Fox’s latest World Cup commercial, Jon Hamm reprises his role as Santa as he reads a letter from a fan who doesn’t want any gifts this Christmas. Instead, they simply want the USMNT to lift the game’s biggest prize.

“You’re the guy who makes reindeer fly, you can make anything happen,” the letter states. “This is the team that’s going to make a run at the World Cup. All we have to do is believe. Last time I checked, that’s like your whole thing.”

The ad then focuses on some of the USMNT’s biggest stars taking the pitch with the team’s signature “I believe that we will win” chant in the background.

The U.S. will begin what it hopes will be a long stay in Qatar with a match against Wales on November 21, which the commercial concludes by advertising.

The ad is the third in Fox’s series of commercials with Hamm playing Santa Claus as the network looks to embrace an unusual winter World Cup.

The second commercial also contains a host of other big names, including Tom Brady, Mariah Carey, Ellie Kemper, and several members of the USMNT.

Santa Hamm joins USMNT, Tom Brady, Mariah Carey and more in latest Fox World Cup ad

Santa Hamm embraces the potential of the ultimate Christmas miracle: the USMNT winning the World Cup

Santa Hamm is back for Fox’s latest World Cup commercial, and he brought along a bunch of his friends.

After Jon Hamm played Santa Claus in Fox’s first World Cup ad, he was joined by a star-studded cast for the network’s second commercial.

The commercial is set at the North Pole and also features Tom Brady, Mariah Carey, Ellie Kemper, and several members of the U.S. national team including Christian Pulisic, Walker Zimmerman, Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, Jesús Ferreira, and Yunus Musah.

Santa Hamm is hesitant at first about sharing the holiday season with the World Cup, which, to be fair, will be an adjustment for us all considering the tournament is usually in the summer.

But by the end of the commercial, he is embracing the chance to spread holiday soccer cheer and even the potential of the ultimate Christmas miracle: the USMNT winning the World Cup followed by a parade in New York City.

In a Fox press release, Hamm said: “Working with Fox Sports to help set the stage for this historic winter World Cup has been a blast. Like Santa, I am also a huge World Cup fan, and I can’t wait to see the U.S. team take on the world in November. I believe!”

Fox’s first World Cup 2022 commercial has Jon Hamm playing Santa Claus

Even Santa can’t hope to match Ronaldo for social media followers

When the 2022 World Cup was first switched from summer to winter, Fox was understandably pretty angry.

The network bid for the World Cup with the intention of filling its open summer months with the extremely lucrative tournament. By contrast, Fox’s winter schedule is already filled up with college and NFL football among other sports.

But time (and, especially, a no-bid contract for the 2026 World Cup to stave off a potential lawsuit) has seen Fox embrace a winter World Cup, as its first commercial for the tournament has shown.

Jon Hamm plays Santa Claus in the spot, and he’s alerted to the uncomfortable reality that the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are about to encroach on what normally is his “time to shine.”

The World Cup kicks off on November 21 and concludes on December 18, meaning the Thanksgiving and Christmas season will, for the first time ever, feature a hefty dose of World Cup soccer on the side. Hopefully Santa can find time in his busy schedule to catch a few games.

This MLB video narrated by Jon Hamm will get you fired up for Opening Day

Goosebumps.

Major League Baseball is officially back today with two games on Opening Day (Yankees-Nationals, Giants-Dodgers) that will kick off a 60-game regular season that will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.

While it’s weird that Opening Day is happening in July, and that Fox Sports will have virtual fans in stadiums, baseball is back and some more normalcy returns to our lives as we continue to battle the coronavirus.

If you need to get fired up for baseball then you should watch this excellent video by the MLB Network. It was written by the great Tom Verducci and and narrated by the great Jon Hamm, who loves his St. Louis Cardinals.

Check this out:

Welcome back, baseball.
